I found your video just by chance. I'm a 61 year old grandma who has not worn much makeup in 35 years! I raised 4 boys and there was just no need/time. I never used lotion on my face. I just washed with Ivory soap and went on with my day. Now, that everyone is gone from the house I want to wear makeup. I went to my Walmart and got a primer, foundation, mascara, concealer, and some blush. I liked the way my skin felt after the primer. The foundation was too dark. (went back for lighter shade). What I couldn't find was a spray that sets the makeup. I sort of felt like a young girl playing with makeup. My hands were shaking when I tried to put on the mascara. I didn't get much at all on the lower lashes. I'll have to try that again. What would you say is best to start with? Before the primer cream. Thanks for the videos. I'm really enjoying them. You don't look old enough to have a daughter. I was shocked when I watched you apply the makeup she picked out. It was so cute to hear why she picked the products.
this is absolutely lovely, I'm so pleased for you! make up can be so fun for self-expression, and anything you do is right, so don't worry about the order - just do what looks/feels best for you and your skin
moisturizing before primer is key! foundations and powders can be drying and they usually accentuate pores and lines on the face so it's good to have a hydrating base on. Also for setting spray at walmart you can probably find flower beauty, they have a good setting spray ❤️
Hi, Michelle! I'm 67. I agree with Mrs. Catfish and Rainbow/Dark, moisturizer is important, especially around the eyes. I have tried many setting sprays, don't see the value, but if you shop at Ulta, Mario Badescu makes refreshing sprays you can use before or after applying makeup, you can usually find for about $5.
I been trying to find a great moisturizer before primer and the best one I've ever come across is the it cosmetics confidence in a cream it helps my make up stay all day!
i know! i was watching and she was like "i don't think it made a difference" and i was like "yeah maybe not" but then i was watching her apply the rest of her makeup and i was like wait something looks very different here... oh wait the lips! like they were just out there and wow!
in Kim's video she talked about how she puts concealer on the sides of her mouth cuz she has darkness over there. I do that too cuz I have the same issue but jus thought I'd let you know : )
I use that trick too. Not for concealing, just becausd I have darkness there and lighter concealer there helps to bring foward the corners of the lips, making them look plumpier. At least for me, it works 😁
Yes exactly! I do the same because I get dryness around my mouth which leads to darker, patchier skin. So conceal don't fear 😁 but Rachel it doesn't look like you have any darkness there so you can skip that step! 😊
you’re correct about the sheet mask. folding and applying the essence on the mask in the way shown in the vogue video defeats the purpose of a sheet mask because you could then simply buy a regular essence in a bottle instead. the fiber sheet is made to hold in the essence and deeply moisturize during the time you keep it on.
I put blush across my nose, and it helps my freckles stand out in a healthy glow way. We use aloe vera as a gel replacement. I tap a drop onto my eyebrows and then brush it thru before it fully dries. I like doing concealer under my foundation as I find that it looks more natural, especially if my skin is having a dry day.
Yes! I've been buffing a little blush on the tip of my nose for years. Has a little bit of contouring effect and gives a sunkissed look. I like to put my concealer under the foundation as well. Looks better on my dry mature skin.
I think the concealer beside your lips was for darker skin! when you’re a bit darker or just darker in general certain parts of your skin gets really dark and hard to cover up!! aka why it didn’t do much for you :) love your videos girl!!💗💗
At first it was a bit off with the lip contour but in the end it kinda worked with the whole pouty eyeshadow brush thingy. Digging that will be trying👍🏻
I don't use the tatcha spray, but I use a Korean aloe/glycerin spray on my beauty blender instead of water. Esfolio has an awesome aloe spray that is 90% aloe juice, and I can almost always find it at TJMaxx. It helps prevent my smile lines from showing up and gives a nice glow. I really recommended it as a finishing spray if you have dry skin.
If you try to use it to set your makeup or put it over lines to reduce them, spray it at a close range into a dry sponge and gently dab/press it into your smile lines while stretching your face so the lines aren't as visible. I notice that the lines don't form again as easily.
@Skincarejunkie I don't, but that's because I found a foundation that stays on my face all day (as long as I'm not viciously rubbing it). I use the L'oreal 24 hr Fresh Wear Foundation in Linen, and it stays on all day. I think it's an awesome foundation. It doesn't cling to my dry patches or enhance texture, my shade has a true neutral/yellow undertone which is so difficult to find, it stays all day, it has a subtle, natural glow, and it isn't drying. It took me forever to find this foundation, because almost everything else I've tried fails in one of those areas. You definitely can use a primer underneath (I use the red Rimmel primer-it's like 5$, or I use the aloe spray as a primer too) but it's not necessary.
This is so funny: I was skeptical about using a powder brush for foundation. I was like, "I don't know, my foundation brush does a REALLY good job." Then, I looked at it . . . And it's a powder brush. Lol, apparently I was accidentally winning at applying foundation.
To get a more natural looking defined lip line(can be used for making it look plumped too) I line my lips with a mid sharp lip liner then tap with my fingers over the line. That kind of smudges & meshes the colour with your skin in such a way that you get precision & definition while making it look natural.
Olive or darker skinned people usually have discoloration on the sides of their lips, all over their necks, and even on the sides of the face-- which is probably why she concealed the sides of her lips. Many people also colour-correct. :)
HACK: if you get foundation on your clothes, take a shaving foam, place it on the spot with makeup on it and let it sit for like a minute or so and then dab it off with cold water and a rag :)
So you’re talking about foundation and my dog is snoozing enjoying listening to your voice. Then you say Magic... MAGIC. And he turns and looks at my iPad like ‘HOW DARE YOU SAY THE NAME OF MY MORTAL ENEMY!” (He hates my mother in law’s dog named Magic.)
Rachel, I believe you should be placing the contour just outside the lip line-as if overdrawing-thereby creating a faint shadow and making the lips appear fuller. Re: kkw hack. I hope this helps!
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the tips, it's so helpful to see another mom using them instead of just celebs. I also love how real you are and not editing out dropping things. (:
I really love how you explain why some tips don’t actually work or make sense! People think that you know like models ofc know how to do all the tricks but they rarely do their own makeup in reality. Truly appreciate it Rach! ❤️❤️
Never, ever watch these videos late at night when others are sleeping. Oh my Gawd, I have tears streaming down my face at the dollar signs, the powder, aggressive dots. Thank you so much! My TV crapped out in my quilting room and I was in a really foul mood. Now I am just as happy as anything. You are amazing!!
Ok can I just say Rachel, that your make up skills are SO good these days!?! I started watching you way back when you did the lazy girl hacks videos and I've loved watching you evolve. You're the best. Hugs! ❤️
Stephanije Op de Velt obvs. I’d hope no one would think they’re getting jade for that cheap. But how different could one cold stone be from another? If the point is to massage skin care into your face, it does the trick.
Tina Marie Macias It‘s not only the aspect of an cool stone when ur reaching out for an Jade roller. It‘s the asian aspect of the power which is in every thing on earth... Jade stands for health and beauty. Among other benefits. U can find information about it in the web...
We need the soap on the brow how to please! I’ve never heard that before. Oh and this video is the funniest so far. The $$$$ flying when you are spraying the spray. I was rolling!!!
Beth Neese-Elliott At some point she mentioned it was a tip from Katy and desi- I cannot remember where she said that but you can find it if you type in “desi kati soap brow” hope this helps!! 🥰🥰🥰
I saw someone else do this recently, and the key is to use GLYCERIN soap, not a white bar soap. It's actually the glycerin that sets the eyebrows. Aloe vera gel with glycerin from the drug store will also work in the same manner.
The fluffy brush for foundation does work! I like that it defuses the foundation and makes it look more like skin. You just do it in thin layers until you get a satisfying amount of product on your face. And it looks so simple and beautiful!
I've been following you for a few years (!!) and totally picked up the foundation-in-the-palm trick from you and it's fantastic! No matter what I'm using to apply it, letting my hand warm it up and spreading it out to avoid big globs is such a good tip! Thanks!
I've used blush slightly above my crease for years but it's usually the final step in my look to bring the eyes and face together. I like the setting mist on the blender sponge jack. Fun video Rach!
I don't often wear bronzer, but when I do I always apply it across the center of the face and on the nose. It's the only way I think it looks natural. I get that people love applying it to the perimeter or using it as a contour, but that doesn't look like the person has been in the sun. I just like it for the fake suntan. 😉😉😉
i do the same, but with blush! with bronzer, no matter how light it is, i feel like it just makes my nose look super dirty. i use a peachy blush because it makes me look super sunkissed
Totally agree. I think most folks confuse bronzing with contour. They are two different things & serve different purposes. Bronzing is to create illusion of a sun-kissed look (hence the warmer tones used) & should be placed where the sun would naturally hit. Contour is to create the illusion of shadows that would normally occur in the face (hollows of cheeks, for example) & should therefore consist of cooler-toned products that mimic shadow. The use of bronzer products for contouring just looks weird to me.
Helloooooooo, I love your videos, whenever I see that you've uploaded, I stop the video im watching and come straight to yours. It makes me so excited when you have a new video up. 😂💕💕😊
Hey, Rach! The corners of the mouth highlight is really effective for us medium toned folks. We tend to get darker around the corners of our mouth, so the light concealer counteracts the shadows.
That feeling when people make stuff look easy, then you try it at home and it’s like Fail! Fail! Fail! Fail! Lol. I clicked on the video for some good tips, but ended up laughing my butt off, which ways way more valuable. ♥️ Always love the Rachhh realness! Thanks for a great video. ☺️
I'm glad you added the bit about liquid lipstick on the eyes. I've seen a lot of people using it as shadow or liner and everyone's like "LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS". Do you, BUT know the consequences
Hey Rach!! For the Kim K lip thing... what I've seen her and Mario talk about, as well as have tried and love is to take a true nude liner (like one I could conceal with) or concealer on a small brush, and AFTER I have my lip products on, I put very small lines at the corners and blend it out slightly.. it brightens it up immensely. And in terms in lip contour, I take my contour shade on a small shader brush and use that to line just under my bottom lip - but not to the corners ... I fade it out once I get to the quarter area before the corners. It makes my lips look way more plump! ♡♡

Agreed.Everyone can wear makeup if they want, so have fun. You could start with maybe a moisturizer before applying primer, if you want to do so.

"That sounds like a future Rachel problem that I don't feel like dealing with right now" literally me all the time 😂😂
Absolutely crying with laughter at the dollar signs sprayed all over your beauty blender 😂😂😂
Me too! 🤣🤣🤣
Same 🤣
Same!!
The few seconds before that when she waved the beauty blender in the mist cloud, saying, “gather it all up”!! I literally watched it 6 times.
It's no joke! Tatcha is SOOOO expensive. That tiny bottle was probably $60 or more.
Girl that contour made your lips look HUGE
Gonna try that! I've got tiny lips.
@@tracyfrederick5606 yeah me too
i know! i was watching and she was like "i don't think it made a difference" and i was like "yeah maybe not" but then i was watching her apply the rest of her makeup and i was like wait something looks very different here... oh wait the lips! like they were just out there and wow!

Sania Mohamed I do this as well. I have darkness there too.
Its not a trick? That is literally what concelear does
I use that trick too. Not for concealing, just becausd I have darkness there and lighter concealer there helps to bring foward the corners of the lips, making them look plumpier. At least for me, it works 😁

Rach is the real MVP for testing stuff like this so we don't have to! You're the best!
I found Rachel about 4 days ago and I can't stop watching.. it's more for her sarcasm and dry humor than for the products at this point 🤣❤️🤷🏻♀️
Me too lol
Hehe, grabs a $50 tatcha spray, sprays it a few times. “There goes $400”. Hehe love it 😋
😂😂😂 that was funny
"That sounds like a future Rachel problem, that I don't want to deal with right now"
SAME GIRL
I think the concealer beside your lips was for darker skin! when you’re a bit darker or just darker in general certain parts of your skin gets really dark and hard to cover up!! aka why it didn’t do much for you :) love your videos girl!!💗💗
I'm really pale and I do it too cause I get redness around the corners there.
TheMintfulMinttymint oh! never knew because my skin doesn’t even get red😜 more than one reason then!!
Im white as snow and I have dark corners
Oh I was wondering that! Thank you 🥰
Jahsmine that happens to white people too. We all have hormones.
Rachel: "Let's pick up some powder off the floor...Just kidding, I wouldn't do that"
Me: "I would."
😂😂😂 The $$$ spraying out of the Tatcha!! You're so awesome!!
At first it was a bit off with the lip contour but in the end it kinda worked with the whole pouty eyeshadow brush thingy. Digging that will be trying👍🏻
i thought the same thing!
I love Rachel’s commentary😂
"OH! What happened to my ear?!?" LOL

Skincarejunkie I have same issue with foundation-yellow undertones but redness on face. I have found neutral tones in physicians formula and cyo.
Skincarejunkie cyo is a new brand at Walgreens. I’ve seen a lot of reviews on TH-cam for the foundation.
This is so funny: I was skeptical about using a powder brush for foundation. I was like, "I don't know, my foundation brush does a REALLY good job." Then, I looked at it . . . And it's a powder brush. Lol, apparently I was accidentally winning at applying foundation.

I've just come back from holidays with no internet and I'm so excited to binge watch all the Rachel that I've missed
A wedding cake under her eyes lolol

lovinglaurenx pinky promise it does! 😊
U ARE A LIFE SAVER
Thx for sharing 💋
Girl, where were you when I got MAC on my favourite skirt???! 😢
You are the first make-up/beauty channel I started watching onTH-cam, and you remain my favorite!
Rachel, I believe you should be placing the contour just outside the lip line-as if overdrawing-thereby creating a faint shadow and making the lips appear fuller.
Re: kkw hack.
I hope this helps!
Do you know what product she used for the lip contour?
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the tips, it's so helpful to see another mom using them instead of just celebs. I also love how real you are and not editing out dropping things. (:
I just looooove watching your videos, you always put a smile on my face, thank you for that! Can i ask what pink powder you used for under your eyes?
Theresa D not sure what she used but makeup revolution makes a baking powder in the shade “lace”. very good quality!
Not only are you gorgeous, but you are hysterically funny!! A total riot. Loved the video, adore you! Great job, Rachel❣😘
You are 100% my favorite TH-cam “guru” and you make me laugh ALL THE TIME and I just go back and watch random videos
I really love how you explain why some tips don’t actually work or make sense! People think that you know like models ofc know how to do all the tricks but they rarely do their own makeup in reality. Truly appreciate it Rach! ❤️❤️
What powder brush are you using for your foundation??
Thank you so much for literally making me L O L with that Tatcha waste when spraying the beauty blender 😂😂😂

Jeffree star liquid lips are eye safe if you want to use liquid lipsticks on your eyes!
Giulia Cogliati i actually use his lipsticks as eyeliner every day just cause it does not budge! stays all day
Okay dude THANK U for recommending an affordable face roller!! I have never found one for a reasonable price but I really want 😍😍👏🏻
The ice roller is amazing check on Amazon it's pretty cheap
There’s also tons of cheap jade face rollers on Amazon.
Tina Marie Macias beside that their not out of original Jade
Stephanije Op de Velt obvs. I’d hope no one would think they’re getting jade for that cheap. But how different could one cold stone be from another? If the point is to massage skin care into your face, it does the trick.

ughhhh rach i love you for all these creative video ideas!!! ❤️❤️ FAVE
What pink toned powder did you use under your eyes? Really liked this video Rach!
Loved the one with lip product and eyeshadow brush! It turned out so pretty!
I love that trick with the eyeshadow brush on the lips! That looked so gorgeous!
I just died seeing those dollar signs flying out of that bottle 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rachel, you make me laugh so much. I could watch you all day.....and have. Oh the time stuck that is youtube! Thanks again for another great video.💜
She has a video I think, how to do brows...
I saw someone else do this recently, and the key is to use GLYCERIN soap, not a white bar soap. It's actually the glycerin that sets the eyebrows. Aloe vera gel with glycerin from the drug store will also work in the same manner.
Linda Hallberg has a video on it and it's great!
I liked the lip contour+brushed on lipstick, it REALLY made a difference, and looked great!
Yeah it looked really nice
The fluffy brush for foundation does work! I like that it defuses the foundation and makes it look more like skin. You just do it in thin layers until you get a satisfying amount of product on your face. And it looks so simple and beautiful!
I've been following you for a few years (!!) and totally picked up the foundation-in-the-palm trick from you and it's fantastic! No matter what I'm using to apply it, letting my hand warm it up and spreading it out to avoid big globs is such a good tip! Thanks!
Watching you Rachel is instant cheerfulness!!! 🤣🤭
Thank you for explaining the liquid lipstick on the eyelids, that makes so much sense! The eyes are SO sensitive
This video made me laugh more than I do in any of Rachel's videos. Good watch for sure! :)
Love your videos Rach! I am dying over here with the dollar signs when spraying the Tatcha spray!! LOL You are so much fun to watch!!
I’m dying with the $ $ $ coming out off the sprayer, almost choked, I was laughing so hard.
I actually do, too. I do think it makes more sense to have that color there if you are legit trying to look like you got some color.
Seriously!
i do the same, but with blush! with bronzer, no matter how light it is, i feel like it just makes my nose look super dirty. i use a peachy blush because it makes me look super sunkissed
Me too i always put my bronzer and blush across my nose!
Totally agree. I think most folks confuse bronzing with contour. They are two different things & serve different purposes. Bronzing is to create illusion of a sun-kissed look (hence the warmer tones used) & should be placed where the sun would naturally hit. Clicked so fast! Love your videos! I love that you test out these beauty tips and other things like buzzfeed recipes!
What pink toned powder did you use under your eyes? Your lips look fuller and better with the contour. It's a keeper .
I love you “gathering” up all of the spray!! 😂😂😂👌🏼
I love that soft lip look! You look gorgeous! Def gunna try that out next time I find the motive to put makeup on!
Helloooooooo, I love your videos, whenever I see that you've uploaded, I stop the video im watching and come straight to yours. It makes me so excited when you have a new video up. 😂💕💕😊
Amazing idea never seen before !! You are doing such a good job!! Congrats !!
I didn’t understand why she was wiping the sheet mask on her face either. I watched that video as was very confused about that one 🤣 I love you Rachh
i love vogue’s beauty secrets series & i love your videos!! 🙌🏼🤩 best of both worlds!!
You do such amazing job in every video , thank you for being you
You explaining how Kim K bakes was hilarious! This video is the best! 🤣
I love all of your videos. You have so many great ideas.
Hey, Rach! The corners of the mouth highlight is really effective for us medium toned folks. We tend to get darker around the corners of our mouth, so the light concealer counteracts the shadows.
You always look amazing and so entertaining!!! Is the powder brush for foundation synthetic or natural hair?
That feeling when people make stuff look easy, then you try it at home and it’s like Fail! Fail! Fail! Fail! Lol. I clicked on the video for some good tips, but ended up laughing my butt off, which ways way more valuable. ♥️ Always love the Rachhh realness! Thanks for a great video. ☺️
Your channel always puts a smile on my face. Thank you 🌸🌻💐🌷🍀
Applying the lipstick with the eyeshadow brush does give a really pretty effect, probably the only thing I'm going to try! A fun video ☺
First time to Rachel's channel... and I freakin love this girl! Glad I found her!
🤣🤣🤣I was cracking up during this whole thing! Your add ins with spraying dollar signs and such were so on point! I needed this today💜🤑
I loved this video. I totally want to try the soft lipstick look using an eyeshadow brush!
I'm glad you added the bit about liquid lipstick on the eyes. I've seen a lot of people using it as shadow or liner and everyone's like "LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS". Do you, BUT know the consequences
Certain liquid lipsticks are eye safe, you just need to know the products to use 😁
Jeffree Star always talks about how his lipsticks are eye safe, dunno about any others tho
Thank you, I absolutely love the hack for putting on foundation with a powder brush it really does work much better
“GATHER IT ALL UP” 6:51
😂😂😂 that would be me hahah
I just like all your videos no matter how it turns out. LoL. I just love your energy and personality. LoL. ❤️
Yes! Thank you so much for the tips! Love your channel.
The $ signs flying away as you spray your beauty blender is everything 😂
Lol at the dollar signs when you're spraying the Tatcha spray! 😂😂
The dollar signs being sprayed on the beauty blender had me laughinggg 😂😂 your videos always cheer me up!
OMG the dollar sign animation is hilarious. Loved this.
really love the little editing bits #hilarious xx :)
Pretty sure this is the earliest I’ve ever watched one of your videos.. 6 minutes after posting! pretty proud of myself actually 💁🏻♀️
♡♡
I think we should make a drinking game out of every time you drop a product XD I look forward to it every video.
