The NRG Quick Release is an SFI approved unit. We use it because it only goes on one way and self centers. Also there are no splines to get dirty. For me it is opinion because after using a bunch they work great. Esp in Ultra4 when your in the rocks getting in and out a lot. I know my wheel goes back on the same way every time.
Quick Tip: When you do this modification, the whole point is to weld it on a piece of pipe/tube. You want the steering wheel closer than the OEM position, that's the whole point + bonus being able to remove it (theft or bucket seat) which is why so many people combine their steering wheels with 50mm Sparco spacers or buy those deep dished versions.
Good job taking precautions by disconnecting the battery but the reason why people "fry their electronics" is really from the high frequency when TIG welding. I still remove it either way just in case lol
