Recently i have been watching young mothers on you tube Hilary, and it's been hard to watch, moving to house's that are huge, ultra modern, and must so expensive, too the point i just can't relate to them anymore, you Hilary have you head screwed on, you have a beutiful home that is way more stylish, you spend money on things you genuinely need, thankyou for being real Hilary x
Have to say, I think you found the perfect gray that is timeless. It adds depth and warmth to your home, making the space look cozy and livable. This is coming from someone who avoids neutrals because to me (personally) most neutral colored walls just don't look like a family lives there, but yours does and it was refreshing 🙂 Every room was beautifully maintained and has the classic character every home should have. I'd say it could be on a home decor magazine because of how welcoming it looks.
Wow great job. New sub here. You are a refreshing change from all the channels that have the Hobby Lobby/Joanna Gaines decor that they will be sick to death of in a couple years. You don't even have a large EAT sign in your kitchen and yet you manage to do it. I am older and my husband and I have renovated seven houses. Something that came to mind while watching was in one house every time we ripped something out or started a big job our elderly neighbor would say the same thing "And that's why you bought this house, because you loved it so much." Haha. One suggestion you might consider, in the 60's house we are in now we took the upper cabinets down and removed the soffits and installed the cabinets back almost at the ceiling, leaving just enough room for crown molding. Then we added a shelf under the cabinets. I love the extra storage of the shelf, it keeps my counter clean and raising them made our kitchen look so much bigger. Plus the cost was almost nothing.
Oh I love the mantle that you did on this fireplace that is my favorite thing you did to that fireplace that really makes everything so much nicer in your living room
I'm four days late to the party and you may never read this comment, but thanks for the reminder (the Holy Spirit and you) to be grateful for my home. It was built in 1900 and she's showing her age, so often it's not so "fun" or "pretty" but I am grateful for a roof over my head!!

I watch other channels and I am silently comparing them to you Hilary, since I started watching you a couple of years ago, you have really opened my eyes to what is important in my home and what is not! I have purged and looked at the items in my home in a whole new light! I watch other channels and it bothers me to see such clutter and yet they are still doing dollar tree hauls and thrift store hauls of lots of items but they no idea what they are going to do with them!! I was never a clutter bug, I love things organized and in its place, you have taught me how I can live with so much less though and I am truly grateful for that! God bless you and your family, I love your videos and look for a new one all the time! Lol

I love lots of things about your videos. I love the fact that you guys are doing things slowly and obviously a lot of DIY yourselves and that you live in an older home. I live in a farmhouse that dates from 1898 9 (Queensland.Australia) and when I first moved here in the late 90s belonged to my husbands parents. It had lots of dark pine, outdated wallpaper and a very run down old blue bath and bathroom. We have slowly renovated and updated over the years as we have saved and then done most of the work ourselves. It is refreshing to see that others take a slower approach also. Thanks

It's really an amazing transformation. From dated to timeless. 💜 I am shamelessly jealous of your lilacs. It has been so cold in Michigan that the poor things haven't bloomed yet. I always put lilacs and lilies of the valley all around my house for Mother's day, but this year I cut azaleas with a little bleeding heart. Pretty, but they lack the scent I associate with Mother's day. Maybe Memorial day! 🤞

I really do love your home. So interesting and warm and cozy all in one!! We bought a small home when the kids were 6 and 10. We are still there. They are both in their 40’s now and of course live with their own families. Our house was the neighborhood go to house. When it made sense to buy a bigger house, they wouldn’t hear of it. So it is just the hubby and me plus the dog. Plenty of space now! And I love it!! Thank you for sharing! Take care.
