  • It was a difficult weekend for Verstappen and Red Bull, but he took home the race win after being hunted down by Lando Norris in the closing stages.

The driver that gets the most praise this weekend is definitely Verstappen. Dont downplay that result given where his teammate qualified and finished, 47s behind.
Yes, people did simulator work but the car still wasn't great on race day. To beat two faster teams on a fast track is quite impressive

F1 is one of the great team sports,, it’s easy to credit the drivers because on the track they are out there alone and they make those tiny differences that get you poles and podium’s.. But,, it’s the thousand things by hundreds of people working round the clock back at the factory and in the garage that make that possible..

Red Bull is over 50 points ahead of Ferrari and over 100 points ahead of McLaren in the constructor's championship. That's not as far ahead as they were after 7 races in 2023 - but it is further ahead than they were after 7 races in 2022.
Red Bull are still the favourites for the constructor's championship in 2024. McLaren will continue taking points away from Ferrari, which is to Red Bull's benefit.

I feel like Lance wasn't given enough credit here, that Aston is clearly not good, despite upgrades, and through Alonso's struggles, Stroll put in a very strong performance to wring 2 points out from a P13 start in a car that didn't deserve it

While the car definitely struggled, I don't think they're straight out of the points. If Alonso hadn't had a nightmare of a weekend, they'd easily have a double points finish. This was more a weekend where Lance FINALLY performed at the expected level right when Fernando hit a dip.

Look at China,, Max took the lead in the sprint at lap 9 of a 20 lap race and won by 13 seconds.. and the last 2 weekend the car has looked bad and Checo was no where …Only Verstappen brilliance is dragging that car on the pole and wins and podium’s… I think RB got cocky flew too close to the sun with their extreme car design,, they should of played it safe and went with updating the RB19…

All serious F1 fans know that Lando had less than no chance of beating the dominant RB team/ Max combination, with out a Max mistake or an RB mechanical failure, so the final outcome would not have changed. Ha-ha

This race really highlighted all the biggest issues in current F1: outdated tracks where racing is nearly impossible, way too big cars that contribute to that problem, the fact that no one can take over without using DRS and that fans and media are getting way too desperate for entertainment that they would turn even something minnow into a spectacle.
