  • A sense of entitlement has been more apparent in today's generation. But do you know that the older generation has so much to do with this current predicament? In today's episode, I'll be sharing my insights on entitlement - how it's incubated in a person, and ways you can help empower, and not enable, the people around you who are struggling with it.
    To your abundance!

      Entitlement has been around since the beginning of time. the problem with our country today is the entitlement has spread throughout the population. It used to be a very small percentage of the population now it's a large percentage. And it keeps growing. Smart phones / social media / cancel culture / I'm offended culture. Everyone thinks they deserve something just cuz they were born.

    Trust fund kids never do well. We just lost an someone aged 45. Chronic alcoholic, obese, and self entitled. His narcissism eventually killed him. The world is better off without him, to be honest. A complete waste of time!

    Such a refreshing video really coming from a gentleman who seems to be the exception in your generation!! From my observation, it isn't that the Millennial generation is lazy, per say, but the fact that we can work just as hard as our parents before us, however the profit we make today are simply MARGINAL. My boyfriend and I both work full time and make just enough to pay our rent, electric, internet, food, gas and monthly phone bills. We decided to start a firewood business. We went broke just for a glimmer of hope that we could ditch our corporate office jobs for a glimpse of the outside world. We enjoy the newly found time together, the profits, the physical work, and the great outdoors! It seems my age group really has to take some dangerous risks if we ever want to get ahead.

    The sources of entitlement are not fully understood, but researchers have pointed to factors such as how people are treated by their parents and other authority figures, messages from the media, and other life events, especially those that make people feel that they are special.
    Self-entitlement is when an individual perceives themselves as deserving of unearned privileges. These are the people who believe life owes them something; a reward, a measure of success, a particular standard of living.
    THIS HITS HARD!!

    I'm not wealthy by any means, but come from a family of poor farmers. Because I'm the only one that kinda sorta "made it" by completing my graduate studies my family now feels entitled to my time, labor, and money. I want to help them, but they act so hapless and afraid.

    My husband wanted out of his last marriage so badly he gave his ex 17 yrs of alimony. She wants us to move to a smaller place so she can have more money I can not change her but I have learned not to let her live in my head Despite her exclusive address and money she is the most unhappy person you could imagine. The trap of trying to solve inside problems with external “things” is a long cold road. . .

      Cut him off if you can. If you can’t, it comes down to saying NO and being okay with the consequences. If the people around you take his side and not yours then leave those people as well. It’s hard, but if you cut out bad people it will make room for good people to show up

    Honestly I think you shoukd have included companies in the introduction. There are companies who do adopt the " mememe" mantra, maybe in a covert manner. When companies take advantage of their employees, what about that??

    I think this is great advice. However all the example are based on entitled people from an extrodinaryly wealthy background. I hope people take that into consideration when applying the logic of the argument to other social classes.

    Not everyone has equal opportunities to say that is to be blind to the world around you. People from babies can have multiple problems different health issues that have none thing with choices they made or others made.

    How about people who are entitled who aren't white? If you knew me, you would know. I didn't know bedside manners. Not everyone is the same. I wish that someone would love me. I wish that people stop insulting and screaming at me. I hate being me. Because I get these mean people call me cuss words. My friends talk like they have it worse. Remember the song, "Wouldn't It Be Good." If you have any empathy, you would listen to this song and understand it. It 's about the grass being greener on the other side.

    At 1:45-1:52 you said they would come back 20-30 years later to say/discuss issues with their kids having entitlement issues.. the problem here is: 1. Your age and agenda to knowing these thousands of cases you referred to.. 2. Your current age now. 3. Assistance from already known psychological response to previously studied examples of cause and affect... Leaves me asking simply how? When? And who were the references you mentioned? How old are you? How would you be associated with those people 20-30 years ago?
    The point is that your example of how you know what you're talking about is simply lacking in explaination.

    • @ecaldwell9
      @ecaldwell9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What difference does it make how old he is? The validity of what he’s saying stands regardless. His explanation was very clear - simple as that.

    • @williamorr3084
      @williamorr3084 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ecaldwell9 because he's Targeting a specific age group and claiming to associate with them. Biblically, inheritance is entitlement and is being removed today by people like this... Why do you think parents kick their kids out at 18 years of age? To avoid legalized entitled ownerships from being allowed to occur... 20 years of living in the home means legal entitlement.. so assholes like this take that away by spreading things like this... Entitlement is as old as the Bible and as old as man kind...
      If parents weren't allowed to kick their children out at age 18... At age 20... The children so long as they've lived in or on a single property for 20 years in the state of NC can legally take ownership of the land and the home..

      Its a fact I seen it too many tyms n I'm only 29, if u want all the nitty gritty details u ain't hear to learn go view something else if something is true its valid. Its like sayn if characters in the bible weren't real people then it has no validity yet the story is not the point but the truth u can learn from.
