SO sorry to be nitpick-y but you can't "go" nonverbal, you just ARE nonverbal, People who are nonverbal can not physically produce speech. It's either an issue on your motor skills that keep you from producing sounds and, therefore, speech or a language impairment in which your brain doesn't understand language overall. "Going nonverbal" can't happen. What happens to most of level 1 and 2 autistics is that you can perfectly produce speech but there are situations that affect you psychologically and you are unable to speak for a certain period of time. This is what people like to call autistic mutism. Not trying to be rude but just wanting to shed some light!!

I want to learn more about it so I can understand them better when it does happen, one of our other friend just tries to get him to talk when this happens and I know that that is not a good way to handle it, what I do at the moment is just talk about something that doesn't necessarily require a response. if its okay with you, could you explain it a bit more and what to do in these situations? sorry if this is a bother!
