The great thing about Medford pivots is that they are locked down tight. No wiggle when properly tightened from the factory. A great deal of other knives on the market have slight wiggle/play when trying to force the blade to one side or the other. Unfortunately the only drawback is the proprietary pivot screw prohibiting disassembly via Mr. Medford's warranty policy.

I like that review mostly because you didn't use the word pry bar. When it comes to survival and field crafts this is the exact type of Blade you need. Anything else is pretty much just good for cleaning your toenails.

The way the red on that vulcanized finish is placed makes it look like the knife was used to stab someone before you got it haha. My only folder that could really be considered "hard use" is my Cold Steel American Lawman (I have the old AUS8 version), but my Benchmade 746 could maybe be counted too. Beyond that it's all fixed blades. My favorite hard use knife that I don't own would have to be the Benchmade 275 Adams, I would love to get my hands on one. Greg Medford is the type of guy that you either love or hate. He's very in your face, and has the "I don't take shit from anyone!" type of attitude. I also think that the Praetorian seems quite impractical, but I can't help but think it would make a great collection piece, even for the awesome name alone.

+mooseclappin11 The 275 is a great knife, xiuxiu1313 recently made a great video beating one up quite a bit. If you get a chance to pic one up you won't be disappointed. The lawman is great I have an older one as well and love it I really want to pick up the new 2015 version it's apparently lighter and thinner than previous years.

My hard use folder right now is a Benchmade 710. Also love D2 steel. If there was one thing I'd change in general about knives that are sold as "hard use folders is blade thickness. Like you said hollow grind gives the best of bolth world's tough but still able to cut.

Interesting knife. I think your analogy of Casio and Rolex fits because a Casio keeps time just as well if not better than a Rolex, yet who wouldn't want a nice Rolex? Please consider making a separate video discussing the costs differences between knives. I consider the obsession with high cost materials like titanium and super steels, to be a bit over done in the last few years. It gives the knife producers one more reason to be able to charge $400 for a knife they could have made for $150 with normal materials, IMHO. The high end knife market seems to be more of an "exclusive club" lately, then a place to find real value. But maybe I am just reading it all wrong? I would love to hear your thoughts or maybe a video on the topic.

+Kevin cleary Awesome, I love knives, but feel just a bit "left out in the cold" by some of today's offerings. Can't wait to see your video.

Definitely wouldn't call a Medford knife a Midtech.

I'm not much of a knife collector but I like Medford knives because many of the other people that review knives or a little bit lefties and they don't like medford's conservative stance. So just like the Trump haters. I adore everything that they hate. Like for instance the Lockheed F-35. If the s*** hits the fan give me a Medford...

You must’ve had a bad Strider. Mine cuts good and everyone I’ve had is thin bte. .015”-.020” anywhere along the blade.
