I was about to say this! Early half of high school I literally didn’t care about school, but halfway through my high school years we got this new teacher who turned things around for me. Also the people you surround yourself with can help a lot too :))

in my opinion, being a nerd isn't necessarily about academic stuff, it's more about being really knowledgeable or really into a certain topic, even if it isn't related to academics so I do think Shu is still a nerd. I'm glad he got to where he wanted to be,that he's doing well and that he seems satisfied with how his life turned out :>

I was like shu until i found out putting even just a little more effort to some subjects is enough to get an 80% so i minmaxed my studying to those subjects
Man... Shu is sure lucky... Ive tried so hard in high school and kept a 4.00 gpa, but i was truly depressed cause it didn't have anything to do with my goals and I forced myself without a meaningful purpose.

I also have cool parent who doesn't forcing w/ their kids to be great on their grades, as long as i have my passion and being serious on it, they'll support me and pray for me, i love how my parent didn't being stricts abt it and always gave me permission for my passion, they'll only get lil' disappointed w/ me when i'm not being serious with my passion, hearing shu's story makes me even love him more now and bless Shu's cool parent:)
I need a man like this in my life. A calm n kind person. I've anxiety n some ppl around me always push me hard in everything until mine got worse n more worse. Idk, maybe i need smone who can calm me n talk to me if im scared or having a low confidence. Maybe in the future, maybe..

I see so Shu's inherently smart but he decides what he wants to learn so when it comes to something that he doesn't care much about he won't feel the need to pay any attention.
school is actually not that hard as people make it seem to be(atleast for me) put enough effort in paying attention in class and doing projects and homeworks and all done. the problem really is motivation,, the only reward i get for being a top student is some paper and my parent's affirmation to keep doing what im doing. i really hate it here

To be honest, aside from just listening well in class, one should work hard as well to understand the subject further. Knowledge is like a talent or a hobby, if you don't try to improve it then it will never improve. Unless the teacher is a menace and does the "this topic isn't discussed but here, have a quizz" card on students, that's just straight up evil (based on experience 😭)
