Thanks for posting this. I remember I was about 7 or 8 years old and my mother took us to this park. I remember the hedges either side of the path which looked quite tall to me, but then, I was only wee and there was a bothersome wasp annoying my mother ha ha. Imaging remembering a wasp back in the 1960s when I can’t remember why I came into the kitchen now lol. I wonder if my memory serves me correctly that there was flowers in the park too? although I could be mistaken. I remember mum pushing the go-chair, as we called the baby buggy, with my we brother in it and the rest of us kids following. A few years later I used to go to Johnny Miller’s barber’s shop/shed, across from the Red Lion. Thanks for the memories. I was telling the wife about the park a few months ago so now I can show her this video.
I seem to recall there being more flowerbeds over at the cross (outside ‘The Store’ / Co-Op) rather than in the swing park itself. You’re going back just a tiny bit further than I can remember but there may well have been. The groundskeepers in the White bothy would have maintained them, no doubt. Not sure if you use Facebook but I’m part of the admin team on a page called New Stevenston - Past & Present, That has some fantastic photos of the areas I’m talking about and many others. Check it out. Glad you enjoyed the video.

The wife has Facebook and has just requested to join, cheers.
The putting green was .... across from the maypole (shed where you paid for putting) and down to the now play area.
Looks like Joe Fraser "the man wi the razor" is no longer the NS barber. Shame, got a flat top there when I was in P6 😂
