    I doubt the Ottomans would survive 'till the 21th century.. I mean if they liberalize and federalize it might be possible, nevertheless it's a better Europe (for most countries)

    • @pomernguy1835
      @pomernguy1835  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes. The Ottoman Empire could change the country's system, although the status of the sultan, in my opinion, had a chance to maintain its prestige and I also think that the Ottomans had a chance to keep the Empire in check. And in my opinion, in the 20s and 30s Mustafa Kemal had a chance to carry out many reforms that brought the country closer to European standards. But that's just my vision of the Ottoman Empire in this universe.

    There are some problems; how did the Ottoman Empire manage to still be alive, did the genocides happen still and how were the Russians able to extend it's control on Central Asia?

    • @pomernguy1835
      @pomernguy1835  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Russians built their trust among the countries of Central Asia, and the region was also under the influence of Russification. The Ottoman dynasty emerged from a difficult situation and managed to win support among the citizens of the Ottoman Empire. Em ... genocide committed by the Ottomans rather took place, although I assume that on a smaller scale.

    I really like the idea, but I think the impact of the soldiers ending the war and not governments is under appreciated in the aftermath of this video. The soldiers were just average people and the officers supporting the truce were mostly people of middle of high middle class, the fact that they would have ended the most important and inevitable war in the world at that point would have been more than just revolutionary. It would have shaken the Europe to its core. The people would now see them selves as the drivers of the nation and embraced the ideas of strike, democracy and revolutionary reforms. It would also have given them a sense of community and solidarity that would last for a while. This sentiment would spread especially to russia, then Italy and over time to the east, as the war got more and more terrible because of incompetence and the new type of war. Eastern Europe would join in on the sentiment especially if Romania still joins the war. The Ottoman Empire would be denounced and ostracized for the Genocide of Armenians and Greeks, the sentiment would be less in Ottoman lands because the war was mainly against Russians and Brits and with both out of the war they wouldn't have experienced too much conflict just enough to show off how unready they were for war leading to a scapegoat. Still they would be proud to have "won" and being running high on that while others would have the feelings of "omg if that hadn't ended the way it did we might have been screwed". The genocide, opportunity for colonialism and the need for the previous governments to prove themselves in control would use this as an excuse to invade Ottoman lands. Greece would get involved for the opportunity, Bulgaria or would stay neutral if Germany and Austro-Hungary don't get involved or might side with Ottomans if Russia doesn't get involved being too busy dealing with a rapid communist/socialist/democratic revolution. Under direct French, British, Greek and maybe Italian attack the Ottomans would collapse but not quickly as they still had fight in them and the Gallipoli campaign would have been a little more successful but still as costly. The capital being in Ankara loosing Constantinople/Istanbul would not have been too important and would play up the nationalist angle of Ottomans saying that the christian Europeans were against them, causing average people to get more involved with the Genocide and the war. The people ended the last war so its likely the Entente Govs would want to avoid at all costs a people ending the war scenario again, it could lead to a lite socialist revolution in all involved as well as Ireland seeing its chance to "let the people choose freedom" as well as the fall of the monarchy in Greece. So they send their most loyal, nationalist soldiers which means they can't simply win by over running the Ottomans with better weapons and more disciplined soldiers making the fight a little more fair (home turf advantage and all). knowing the loss of the war would be the end of the current republic as they knew it in France they would put a lot of money into it and after early victories when things got tough and they needed more soldiers they would draft the men from the colonies, The British would do something similar knowing that Ireland would leave most definitively if the war ended in a loss or the soldiers ending the war, so they would draft Indians to ship in and fight in modern day Iraq. The Entente would win without question but it would take a few years because of the limited amount of soldiers they were using and the crazy amount of money they spending at home to answer the demands of the people, high on their own victory in 1914, as well as this expensive war which could be compared to fighting with one had behind their backs. So they would still get loans from USA for credit and weapons but not as much as in WWI. Greece seeing this as their chance would go all in the people's peace in 1914 would have given the people the confidence they needed to believe that each and everyone of them could make a difference and the hope of bringing back byzantine lands in to Greece would have motivated them to fight hard. If Bulgaria is in the war then the last 2 Balkan wars would have pitted both with desires to defeat the other once and for all which would lead to brutal fighting. Serbia seing a chance to make strong allies in case Austro-Hungary ever tried to reinvade would declare war but wouldn't be too much help because the nation at the time wasn't very centralized and was very very corrupt. Still it helps to open a new front and forces the other nations of entente to send troops to balkans outside of just the new Gallipoli campaign. No matter the the army of Ottomans was inferior to that of Entente in quality they would have had a small size advantage even after the colony drafts. Having fronts only in the south and west ( where in the west 1 Ottoman soldier would count for 3 Entente because of geographical help) they could call onto northern peoples and eastern peoples to come help, this would overwhelmingly be Kurds and Turks since the Ottomans were busy killing the Armenians. Still the Entente just gets more money from USA and more soldiers from colonies opening a voluntary system in the mainlands of France and Britain. The British would absolutely do the same thing the did with Arabs in our timeline which would set that chapter of history into play. I can only speculate on the location of battles as well as the human cost yet it seems very probable that with the greeks being a part of the Gallipoli campaign it would be a narrow and costly victory for the Entente cling the west coast of Anatolia before moving on to the Bulgarian threat which would be much more dangerous because they were in need of a redemption from balkan war 2 and wanted to take the greek and Serbian lands in Macedonia as well the occupied Ottoman lands in Europe knowing if Romania got involved it would be over for them just like in the last balkan war the Bulgarians would fund revolutionaries and set up large amounts of soldiers and first along Danube river. The Entente as a whole would be forced to get involved as previously said in balkans and this would slowly but surely roll up the Bulgarian defenses up to their mountains. In Ottoman lands the Entente take Cilicia through French landings, The British finally push through the Ottoman reinforcements in lower levant going north to join another French army fighting in modern Syria/ Lebanon. British do the same in modern day Iraq finally taking Baghdad and going towards Mosul. With breathing room the Greeks and other Entente forces attack the heart of Anatolia but because the Ottomans would have beefed up their defenses they only really take the northern coasts up to the mountains in Anatolia. Eventually through nationalism and figures like Ataturk the turks come to another resistance but its all for not as they will all make peace soon after. The money spent will leave the USA in a strong position though not as strong as our time, the French and British will begin to loose grasp on their colonies as they no longer have enough reliable fighting forces to hold their colonies and having crippling debts to pay because of war and Homefront spending, still not as bad as our time. Ireland will still try to leave and will probably have a similar struggle as our time but end up freed, this was inevitable after everything that happened between the potato famine up until 1914 they just needed the British gov to be weaker the it was pre 1914. Bulgaria get its modern borders but doesn't get strapped with crippling debts. Ottoman Empire dies and the Turkish Republic is made and when the Entente goes too far like in our time Ataturk will do as he did in our time but the Ottomans were more thoroughly crushed this time so they will end up with lands like today minus west coastland of Anatolia and will extend less outside the Pyrenees mountains stopping at Tigris river and staying out of Armenian highlands while staying in side the western half of the Pontic mountains in comparison to Tigris river. The Arab world would likely go through the same experiences up until decolonization. The serbs gain minor lands but the greeks being the leading force in the balkans as well as when the Turkish Republic refuses the Entente's harsh original deal, will get western coast of Anatolia and southern coast of Bulgaria. French and British colonies will get their freedoms as soon as the next European war ends as it is sure to be as harsh as WW2 while perhaps avoiding the genocides. Germany probably goes through a people's revolution lite getting reforms but isn't stuck with crazy debt because of WWI and the Emperor stays in power but nominally,. Maybe because of Russia becoming socialist or communist the German gov sides with the extreme right hopping to avoid an invasion but gets over thrown by am extreme right figure like our time, but this would take a few decades to culminate and the military would still have to down side as Germany didn't have the funds to continue their military spending when peace times were enforced by the people. Because the economy is better in Europe the next war will end up being crazy.

    why did Russia abolish its monarchy? its extremely find to ever find a scenario where Russia remains a monarchy (i personally dont mind if its absolute or constitutional) that has Nicholas II and his hypothetical alternate descendants (as he wouldn't have been murdered in TTL along with his family) continue to rule Russia to present day
    i do like the creativity of this scenario, and i like the scenario itself, but its rather cliche for Russia to always abolish its monarchy in my opinion, as its very unoriginal and is essentially done in every alternate history scenario, and even when its not abolished, it tends to have the incorrect line of the Romanovs ruling over it instead of Nicholas II's hypothetical descendants, presumably through his eldest and only son Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov, as its not impossible for Alexei to live long enough to have legitimate male issue (multiple hemophiliac royals throughout history in OTL have lived till their 60s or even 70s, therefore Alexei should be able to do so as well if hes careful enough and is treated throughout his life)
    the power of the British monarch was largely limited over time throughout history, and yet Britain never became a republic, this logic should apply to Russia as well
    besides that major and somewhat irritating (no offense ofcourse) flaw, the scenario is overall good and creative
