I know this vid is ancient, but personally for a turn table, I’ve found a microwave glass plate works FANTASTIC. The glass one from inside any microwave. It’s sturdy and spins effortlessly and there’s loads of diff sizes if anyone u know is getting rid of a microwave. Can’t recommend it enough.
I am so happy that someone of your stature would take the time to show us how to use a paper plate and a plastic bag to make a cake as beautiful as yours. Thank you
Thanks for generously sharing your expertise with us. I appreciate that you recognized that not everyone has all the tools that someone who regularly decorates has. It was really helpful that you allowed all bakers to be able to turn out attractive results by suggesting readily available alternatives.👍😊
The MaGyver of cakes! You slay me Buddy! I loved MaGyver, and I love you! I still remember the episode of Cake Boss when you did the cake for the bikers, and they asked you if you wanted to take the motorcycle out for a spin. They brought it down the back alley, and you got so excited.I remember you revving the engine and taking off while your mom was hollering at you to be careful, and you were grinning ear to ear! BTW,thanks for the cake tips, love it!🏍🎂🤗
Thank you, Buddy. By the way, I loved the episode when you and your wife, Lisa, visited Carlo at school. I was so happy when your little chap said," Who wants some cake!" You not only do cake well, you do family even better.
Thats why i love buddy. He teach for everyone to learn. Wither you have the tools are not. He shows you how to use your reg house hold items to be a cake boss
Thank you so much! My god I love this man!!! You made my sister in laws wedding cake for a steal, before your show came out, and it was amazing! Who would have thought you would be a super star Baker now! God bless
Being generous with the icing is how you get the best results. I've learned you put a lot on top and what falls down helps out spreading on the sides. It takes experience to be as good as the cake boss. He can make a cake out of practically anything in the pantry, as can most of us cooks can throw a meal together in the same way.
Him:”You should get a Nutella jar and keep in the pantry” me- it's actually you should get a jar of nutella and HIDE it where no one else will look. But seriously - these were really good, practical tips that I think I could even do! Thanks!
I love Buddy so much because he is so down to earth & funny to boot! This was awesome!! Loved the paper plate hack but, the star of it all was the peanut butter & Nutella added to basic vanilla frosting!! Thank you so much!
I really appreciate the financial accessibility of this advice, for those of us intermediate decorators out there who get hit up for low budget cakes. Solid tips!
You are the boss, thank you Buddy for sharing everything with your followers. We appreciate all the tricks of the trade, Hope you and your family are doing well.
How awesome!!! I love love love how you make it look so easy for someone like me to try. Really love the DIY tools especially the star piping tip bag, your truly a genius!
I’ve got the be the only one here doing a plank challenge while watching Buddy make a cake ☺️ I’ve been doing this challenge for about 5 months. I’ve been holding it for 4 minutes for the last 2 months. Thank you for your help with my challenge today ♥️
Oh my god !!! U won't believe after so many searches I finally got your channel... Hey BUDDY, I am one of your biggest fans and I do watch your show CAKE BOSS regularly on TLC and I just love your show... Your skills are just awesome... THANK YOU for this channel. Love u and your team 😊😊😊
buddy thank you so much for making it easy for those of us that don't have access or the money to get the tools that we need to properly make a cake. Great fan of your show and of your family both at home and in your workplace I can see how close you all are. You're a very lucky man.I wish my husband was still alive because I know he'd hel.getting all the tools I need to do and I chose cake decorating because it seemed to help my mom after my father passed many years ago. Again thank you very much for helping and please keep on caking.
I'm so glad I've found your channel. I've watched cake boss for years, visited the bakery on occasion but im absolutely in love with this channel. Everything from cake tutorials, to sculpting and cooking. Love it keep doing you buddy, and thanks for this video! I so needed this attempting to make my mother a cannoli birthday cake tomorrow and now I know just how to decorate it.
Actually, if you have a few of those scissors that have serrated edges on the blades (there are multiple options and the handles are usually color-coded), you'll find that using them to cut the paper plate edge is faster and opens up multiple options for the pattern on the frosting.
Butter cream is easy. 1 stick of butter to 2 cups powdered sugar. Just scale up 1:2 add vanilla extract you can do that to taste preferences and milk 1 tbsp at a time utill you reach desired thickness. And it will taste awsome unlike canned frosting. You need a lot for a big cake I usually do 4:8 for a 9"
It is all about demystifying the process and using what’s available to you. I’ve been a professional pastry chef for over 30 years, and this is how I teach people.
@@colleenuchiyama4916 Not arguing the purpose of the video but wonder if the finished product could look better. The top spikes are haphazardly done. We expected perfection from the cake boss. I've piped a whole cascading floral cake with no piping tip and using just a plastic bag. I just expected a neater job from him. That's all.
I can honestly say buddy holds my attention, I look at thousands of posts and I’m straight off to the comments. But I was that enthralled with buds post I never got round to the comments in fact I never even thought about them for one second 🙋🏼♀️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Wow i clicked on the video looking for doctored cake mix ideas and saw this. Not what i was looking for but what i needed. Since I'm making a cake i just learned how to fancy it up. Thanks!
This is an old comment yes, but whipping cream needs a stabilizer and professionals use ones designed to prevent melting. It can be replicated at home to a degree, but some ingredients are not common to have on hand
Ingredients for fondant Icing sugar Milk powder Condense milk Food colour Just mix together the ingredients until you figure out how soft or hard you want your fondant to be or how much fondant you want..just knead together and roll out.make sure less liquid so it can turn out to be a dough.
I've been using ziploc bags for pastry bags for years but it blew my MIND when he cut out the star tip. I'm so going to try that!
meredith wuhrman - same here!
Same here! And I never used tape to reinforce it. It's gonna work so much better now 😁
I literally jumped up when I saw that! 🥰
Right ?? So cool! 😎
Immediately solve my problem of wonder how I can do the churros now!

I am so happy that someone of your stature would take the time to show us how to use a paper plate and a plastic bag to make a cake as beautiful as yours. Thank you
I FORGOT ABOUT HIM! I USED TO WATCH CAKE BOSS EVERYDAY FOR LIKE 3 YEARS WTFFFFFFF
Same
Me to same
Samesess
Uff sameee
Lol same with me 😆😆
Love how generous he is with the icing. That’s how it should be
Well, It Is The Icing On the Cake!
I'm the opposite, I hate huge piles of frosting 😂
When you're combing away a bunch of it, you have to start with excess, or you'll scrape down to the cake!
Yes! The cake to icing ratio should be 50/50😃
If the icing isn't soft and fluffy excess icing is kind of gross
Him:”You should get a Nutella jar and keep in the pantry” me: hahahahaha nooo it doesn’t work like that in our house 😂😂😂
Sad
K
Shaaz Per5be 6 why is that sad lol? A Nutella jar cannot be resisted unless you are a Jedi lol
Same ahahhahah
IKR....doesn’t last long at all in my house 🤷🏽♀️

Oh Baby! I'm a Boss! Thanks CB Buddy! The enforced corner, the paper plate cake comb, the red crumbs, and the lazy Susan. Brilliant!

Awesome, thanks for watching!
Wow, am humbled by this great lesson.
Thanks buddy you're amazing God bless you and your family
Love you Buddy! Thanks for sharing these secrets. Hope your hand is healed now.
What kind of store bought icing did you use? Certainly did not look like any out of a can. It looked nice to work with.
REALLY ENJOYED YOUR TIPS. I HOPE I CAN FIND MORE VIDEOS OF YOURS.
P.S. I LOVE THE WAY YOU TALK.😍
My thoughts EXACTLY. That was to perfect to be anything In our markets lol
When I was a beginner. I used to buy store bought icing. And I added a tiny amount of milk and it really turns the texture into a homemade icing.
You can buy regular store bought frosting, and whip it up to stiff peaks
I buy cheap icing at aldi all the time. Put in kitchenaid and whip on high for a few minutes. It is fluffy and amazing!
How does this guy and also his customers not die of a heart attack?
Lovely outcome and wonderful tips
Thanks for sharing your tips Buddy. You're the real Cake Boss. One love from Jamaica
I'm not a cake person but this is awesome. Thanks for the tips!
I watch cakeboss so much...I couldn't get the channel in America. So happy to see you on youtube
Thanks for sharing your tips Buddy!
I had never thought of Ziploc bags! Used grease proof paper. Man that's an obvious one, love it!
Love this! Can't wait to try the comb tip. Thank you!
Actually, if you have a few of those scissors that have serrated edges on the blades (there are multiple options and the handles are usually color-coded), you'll find that using them to cut the paper plate edge is faster and opens up multiple options for the pattern on the frosting.
its called a pinking shears
i would love to see how to make the PERFECT BUTTERCREAM for all cakes!
They have many of them right here on youtube.
I would too
Butter cream is easy. 1 stick of butter to 2 cups powdered sugar. Just scale up 1:2 add vanilla extract you can do that to taste preferences and milk 1 tbsp at a time utill you reach desired thickness.
And it will taste awsome unlike canned frosting.

I usually do 4:8 for a 9"
wow! out of all the cake videos on here, this was the best!
SO GLAD I FOUND YOU BUDDY!!!!
I am a subscriber NOW!!!!

Totally awesome 😉. Amazing tips 👏👏
Only recently found cake boss on Amazon, love it, now I've found you on TH-cam. Nice work Boss.

How did I not know these awesome videos were here before!?!? Thanks Sooo much! I love it!
It looked amazing until you sprinkled the red crumbs. But really amazing tips 😍
Agreed, but I figure he was using this one cake to show all the techniques. So he is forgiven. 😊
Hahaaaaaa

Less is more!
😍😍😍😍😍😍

Wow! love the video and using the store icing. Would like to see video on making and working with fondant. 🍰🍰🍰
Wow i clicked on the video looking for doctored cake mix ideas and saw this. Not what i was looking for but what i needed. Since I'm making a cake i just learned how to fancy it up. Thanks!
A good cake recipe that ,you can male more than one recipe from. Like a basic vanilla recipe that can be used for a red velvet cake .
Great idea!
That piping star hack was awesome oh and the scraper was amazing. Thanks you just saved me a trip and money and time . Thank you Buddy!
That's amazing will Def try these out until I get your products of course 😉😍
Thank you! Not all people can afford to but a lot of different things for baking. Or have the space for it. This helps a lot.
Could you plz make a video about icing?
Man. You're the man. The cake man. Loved it.
Sir, please, make a video about crump coating and steady , stiff long lasting, whipping cream design techniques, specially in hot climate.
This is an old comment yes, but whipping cream needs a stabilizer and professionals use ones designed to prevent melting. It can be replicated at home to a degree, but some ingredients are not common to have on hand
Been adding peanut butter to vanilla icing for YEARS!! And recently started adding nutella. So yummy!
It’s weird hearing him talk at a regular volume or without stupid expression for the tv show.
U said it👍
I speak spanish, is more weird.
That’s homemade star tip was dope! I’m baking a cake tomorrow just to try it!!
What about making fondant without a fondant machine? (By the way, my mother loves your tv show. She hopes to meet you and visit your bakery some day!)
Insanity_Runs I saw someone on a BBC baking show make fondant from marshmallows and powdered sugar, microwaved it, kneaded it and used a rolling pin.
Dr. Simple Beauty 300 There’s a difference between fondant and marshmallow fondant. A big difference.
Ingredients for fondant
Icing sugar
Milk powder
Condense milk
Food colour
Just mix together the ingredients until you figure out how soft or hard you want your fondant to be or how much fondant you want..just knead together and roll out.make sure less liquid so it can turn out to be a dough.
I am so glad i found this channel, i am now feeling like a pro
...the McGyver of cakes👍
Wow... Thanks for showing how to improvise basic buttercream tools.
