    I made orange cookies, and they are so delicious. What I did was put chocolate chips in them. The combo is so good ....great recipe ❤️

    Done. 12/18/23. Saw it and immediately made them.
    Didn’t taste the orange much. I had an orange so I added zest and squeezed the orange. So flavorful now. I forgot about the coconut, but I have wafers and pecans ground ready for rum balls so they will be switched to orange and coconut in the morning. YUM! Thanks ❣️ MERRY CHRISTMAS

    My momma and us girls used to make these but instead of regular OJ, we used the frozen orange juice concentrate. SOOOOOO good!!! Then rolled in coconut. Mind you this was 45 to 50 years ago! Timeless and Classic recipe! Brought back so many beautiful memories!

      What a great idea! I’m headed to the kitchen to make some for book group tomorrow morning. I’ve got rum balls started but I know not everyone can have rum. I saw the comment for coconut roll. Going to try some like that.

    For some reason I feel like these are special to make during the holidays. Maybe it’s the OJ and people used to say how special it was to get an orange in their stocking on Christmas morning. I wonder if putting in a little orange zest would make them extra good?

    I love your easy recipes 🩷. Can you possibly do the cookies - “Russian/ Mexican” this may be wrong terminology.
    They are also called wedding cookies. This reminded me of them, I’ve had them a couple times around Christmas. Thank you ❤keep up the good work🙏🤍
    I also subbed after the strawberry crk salad.

    I've made these for decades, but instead of rolling them in powdered sugar, I roll them in coconut. Family members have requested them for special occasions, including wedding receptions.

      I started making these in the early 80s, but I use orange juice concentrate, and roll them in coconut. They are delish!!

      @@kathyrama4570 That's what I use as well. I think the flavor is more intense than with regular juice.

    I was born in Nashville but grew up in Orlando. I went to Colonial HS and my husband went to Winter Park HS and then Rollins College. After we were married we moved to Deland. Our oldest son was a policeman in Apopka. Know the area really well. Now we are in Utah. I also only buy Simply Orange 😊

    would I be able to reduce the 1 c amount of powdered sugar in the cookie dough by 1/3-1/2 c without affecting the dough texture it sounds too sweet?

      I would need to omit the powdered sugar completely and am thinking about rolling in unsweetened coconut instead. The sugar in the cookies and OJ would be plenty for me!

    Do these need to be refrigerated. Thinking of making for a wedding reception.

    • @sherylsmiles141
      @sherylsmiles141 ปีที่แล้ว

      She recommended refrigerating for 15 to 20 minutes, this would "set" them...
      but I am sure that you could do it for a bit longer.
      Leaving then out would depend on what temperature would be in the environment

    Would these be good made in advance...like a day or 2? How do you store them? Thinking of doing for a small get-together😊

      Air tight container is fine. You can even keep them in the freezer for a bit too!

    It seems like you could just put the balls in the bag of powdered sugar as you form them and then shake them up to coat.

    • @sandraolsen6596
      @sandraolsen6596 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She used 1/3 cup but you can add up to 1/2 cup if you needed. Others commented and said they have made them before but there recipes called for the frozen o.j. Concentrated but thawed out beforehand which gave it more flavor. 🎉 ❤ 😊😊😊

    For anyone who has tried these...do they taste "orangey" enough?
