as it continues to sink into the abyss of Germanic, authoritarian societal practice and divide even Lutheran families from each other, mis-handling our precious Lord's Supper in weaponizing it against other Christians deeming to have sinned worse than they do. I want a shepherd, not a judge; a sanctuary, not a courtroom and mercy/grace/forbearance instead of harsh judgment with sentences applied. I'm mostly German but clinging to the old German ways will end poorly. I pray daily for the LCMS but so far, God is allowing it to disintegrate before our very eyes and now the colleges are going away. Matthew 25:29-30, 40. Don't forget Matthew chapter 7 and Luke 6:36-38......
I continue to pray and advocate for the disaffected Christians cast out and shunned by the LCMS and the WELS who sadly utilize a 'precious Means of Grace' (Holy Communion) in the judgment, sentencing and punishment of believing, saved sinners somehow deemed worse than they are. Banning professing believers in Christ's PERFECT atonement from coming to HIS gift, a gift unmatched in this earthly realm, because why? They don't believe every single article of the LCMS doctrine? They don't carry an LCMS membership card? At least the LDS is up front and ope and requires such a Temple Recommend card to worship and worse than those, using sinful men's judgments of other believers' heart, faith and sin and putting up the yellow police tape to cordon off the chancel and restrict the distribution of JESUS' pure gift is simply un-Gospel-like. Synod leadership bemoans our declining numbers and backdoor losses and encourages the masses to produce more children all the while using legalistic, "command and control" tactics to beat down fellow sinner/saints and exclude them from FULL WORSHIP and yes, even to access the precious Eucharistic Gift that Jesus bestowed even upon the betrayer Judas and the thrice denier Peter. There is only ONE judgment allowed in the church: full excommunication of anyone stating unbelief or heresy. That's it. No "self-exclusion" or "church discipline" is recorded in any of Christ's teachings. And yet, the LCMS continues to practice the inanity and even insanity of doing the same bad things over and over and expecting different results. The sick need the doctor and hospital and the spiritually sick (ALL OF US, especially the faithful) need pastors and the church as a SANCTUARY and not to be subject to court room antics. We need the pure Gospel, not more 'Ugly Religion' and until our leadership realizes their follies and repents and educates the misled lay folks as to this rotten doctrine, the declines will continue. At what point of decay will they and many of you decide that we need to go back to ministering the pure Gospel, preaching Law and Gospel both....mentoring, coming along side hurting people caught in chronic sin and instead of pounding them with putrid punishments fit for criminals and unbelievers?
Agree, the way they treated Ryan Turnipseel is appallingly. He brought up legitimate concerns in the large catechism, and they simply label him a supremist. The LCMS needs to wake up.

All they need are the big hats and some smoke 'n incense. They live in the uber-Germanic past of authoritarianism, droll lack of humor and understanding of 21st century society and cling to their ghosts of Wittenberg. Banning a professing, forgiven Christian from any precious 'means of grace' tells God 'You dear Sir are WRONG to love, have mercy on and to forgive them! We know best!" Yeah, right........if looking for people doing bad things trumps finding ways to bring them to hear the Gospel (and Law) will end poorly as our once-relevant and meaningful LCMS slides into the abyss of Country Club Religion. They've divided my family several times and feel no shame, remorse or sadness....they are like the teacher who screams "I AM NOT HERE TO BE YOUR FRIEND!".
