You want to reposition to be in the outer ring of the arena when Placidusax starts disappearing (phase 2), then look out for the tell of Placidusax's ruin, which is Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike followed by him disappearing early in the animation. After he disappears, stand at the edge of the arena and dodge roll his Thundercloud Form swoop down. Then all the fire and laser will miss and you should be close to Placidusax to punish him.
