One of my pet peeves in this fandom is the people who insist on calling the band "one o'clock". It sounds fine when you're speaking Japanese but it's so awkward when talking in English. Even the band calls themselves "one okay rock" overseas so it's stupid for fans to tell others not to call them that. In Japanese, not many people even call them the full name "one o'clock." They're usually called by the shortened "wan oku" (sounds like "one oak") amongst fans. So yeah. Ignore the people who tell you to call them something else. They can go pound sand. Saw these guys in LA a couple weeks ago and they were a-freaking-mazing, as always. Hope you get to see them live soon. They already said they'll be touring next year.
Just for clarification, it's absolutely right to call them "one ok rock". It's what they call themselves too when they're abroad. Another option would be to call them "one okrock". Their band name comes from the time, one o'clock, when they used to practice back in the days. And because it's hard for Japanese people to pronounce the letter l, they changed it to an r. In the end it became ONE OK ROCK. For the next reactions, I think you might like these two: "ONE OK ROCK - We are [Official Video from AMBITIONS JAPAN DOME TOUR]" and "ONE OK ROCK - Wasted Nights [Official Video from "EYE OF THE STORM" JAPAN TOUR]", both from the official OOR channel.
please check out the acoustic guitar version of One ok Rock wherever you are. it gives me sailing down the aisles of Milan with that significant someone vibes. wherever you are jibun x kimi tour. it's the video that is 8 minutes long
I make a lot of those same noises when I listen to OOR, lol. Save yourself is one of my favorite songs instrumentally/composition-wise. I strongly encourage a live version of Stand Out Fit in Next (my favorite is the one with the orchestra)
So... The spelling is the same-ish in Japanese. It IS pronounced One o clock here, but we don't even call it that. We say "One Oak" for short. And there are a ton of bands/groups with names like that, because we gonna read them in Japanese anyhow. 16 years in, I still have no clue how to pronounce "Kis-My-Ft2". lol Anyhow this is one of my fave One ok songs vocally, along with Renegade. For story, I love Stand Out, Fit In. Still mad that I had the opportunity to see them when they just started out, but I did not go because I had not clue who the heck they were.
He sounds exactly like this live.
Loooove One ok rock! It's an older song, but "Wherever You Are" is beautiful.
I love piano version
