and the verdict was nonsense because the plaintiff would have had to hire an electrical contractor anyway because other contractors would have informed him that since the outlet would need to be moved then he would need to hire an electrician to make any needed repairs or adjustments .

That plaintiff was shady and Judge Milian wasn't listening to the defendant when it was patently clear she was talking about an imaginary outlet and he was talking about the only outlet he handled. In all possibility however, the defendant snagged the power feed to the AC during his shenanigans
How do they know the first guy didn't do it? The plaintiff kept saying "they" not "he", regarding work done, and the defendant said he had a guy working for a week (the one who ran off) so what about what he did? He said he moved a wire, meaning he basically pushed it to the side. Was very frustrating for the judge to not understand that (and by the comments, I'm not the only one who understood that.)
"Hey, don't blame me for breaking your stuff. I was doing you a favor." I hope everybody sees this and doesn't do business with that guy. Because any mistake that he makes is going to be the customer's fault.

It sounds like he meant he literally just cut a new hole for the outlet, and literally moved it from point A or point B. He didn't miss with the actual circuit layout.
And once again, the defendant "didn't get to tell his story." From what I heard, he couldn't have made his situation any better by giving his prepared speech. He did something to the wiring, and I'll give him the benefit of a doubt by saying maybe he didn't realize it.

And if you say something like that, even though he wasn't saying it in a disrespectful way, you are toast. She can be great sometimes, but often she is biased, sexist, emotional, or ego driven.
What I believe the defendant was desperately trying to explain was that when he put that door or window in the second floor he moved a wired that was in the wall out of the way of the opening he created without actually disconnecting or fiddling with the actual connection of the wiring … therefore he did not do electrical work… and the outlet that was in the room he was working in was still working as far as he knew But JM literally talks over people and he was quite flustered, having said that, seems the work wasn’t the best and some of it should have been reimbursed anyway, but not sure he should have been responsible the downstairs outlet or the air conditioner
Installed a door, moved an outlet unrelated to the a/c unit and in an entirely different location of the house, but yet the defendant is now liable for any issue the plaintiff claims?
@benjie128 I’m thinking when the defendant was installing the siding, more than likely he’s ran a tack nail through one of the wires without even knowing it. I’ve seen it numerous times. Most people get in a hurry and start slapping the siding on without even thinking of marking the location of the wiring. It is easier on new construction cause you know exactly where not to nail, but on these preexisting homes that are already sheet-rocked it’s impossible to be completely accurate on the location without a Borescope. Most homeowners think just because the outlet is there then the wiring is directly above it but that’s rarely the case cause you just never know how someone ran the wires. I’ve seen wiring go horizontal and vertical with junction boxes and all kinds of cobbled up mess. The plaintiff should’ve just hired a licensed insured contractor. There’s just too much liability on jobs like this. Just think if the house would’ve caught on fire and someone got hurt or killed. I know the defendant was probably just trying to make some quick cash but sometimes it’s better to skip on these kinda jobs.
clearly the judge doesnt know how this works even though her dad supposedly was a licensed contractor . there are different types of licensed contractors , general contractors who mainly just build but dont do any electrical or plumbing , then u have electrical contractors , and plumbing contractors . the defendant was hired as a building contractor to install doors and windows , so the plaintiff would have had to hire an electrical contractor as well NO MATTER WHO HE HIRED to install doors , windows or walls . homeowners need to pay their own bills and not try to make other people making an honest living pay . this verdict was wack .
I’m kinda thinking when he messed with the outlet upstairs he didn’t hook everything back up. Like the outlet downstairs was getting it’s power from the outlet upstairs. Ideally they’re wired by rooms but 90% of houses aren’t.
I’m not all the way through but I really feel JM didn’t understand what the defendant was saying and didn’t bother to listen. He kept trying to tell her he didn’t do any electrical work. He moved one wire, he didn’t mess with any outlets and the wire he moved was working fine. She seemed to want him to have done electrical work when he didn’t. It just finished and I think she didn’t even bother to hear him at all. One of the few times I feel she made a bad call.
Don't comment until you are all the way through watching. Because, the defendant admitted that he moved the outlet, which is considered electrical work. The affidavit the plaintiff got from an electrician who examined the problem is the key evidence in this case.
