    Hi there, thank you so much for this video. Am I the only one who doesn't get any information in the open line section in the Packing form ? Actually, I succeeded in following all the previous steps (setup, item reservation on the SO, picking and putting work to the Pack location) but the content of my order is missing in the Packing form and there is nothing to pack. I have the error message "Item xxx cannot be packed because it is not in the packing list."Any idea please ?

    Hi Scott,
    I have the following warehouse process for sales order: Pick from inventory to packing station-->Pack-->Pick from packing station to final shipping location.
    When reversing the transaction of a packing slip updated sales order, I need to do the following (because the goods are WMS-enabled):
    1. Go to load and cancel packing slip
    2. In the load, I am then able to reverse shipment confirmation
    3. Once shipment confirmation is reversed, Cancel work becomes available.
    However, when I click on Cancel work, it gives me an error saying "Work Packed container picking cannot be reversed".
    I tried to reopen the closed container but got an error "The container has related work with work ID XXXXXXXX, which is either in process or closed."
    What am I missing to get through the reversal process?

    Believe it's missing a lot of steps in this video, there way more to explore on this functionality that's not been covered.

    Hi Scott, Great videos as always. I have one question. Is there an option to do packing from scanners instead of doing it from application? I would like to scan LPs in packing location and pack them into respective boxes.

      Not that I know of. That packing screen though is really meant to use a tethered scanner. I know that's probably not what you want to hear, but a tethered scanner and a laptop on a cart is the way to go if you want to be mobile :)

    I'm new to D365. When we create a container, on your screen you can specify what box to use. Can we do the same thong and allow us to modify the size? Reason why is we have standard boxes but we're not filling up the box, we will cut down the box to make it smaller.

    • @Scott-Gaines

      You cannot really define it on the fly. What you would have to do is create different boxes sizes then choose the specific size you are cutting them down to.

    Hello Scott, As usual, great stuff. One question though. If work is created to move containers from packing to shipping location, how is that work executed. The mobile device will ask for an LP. How is the user going to know the LP? Is an LP label printed to be applied to the container? A PRINT step is not allowed in the Packed Container Picking work template.

      I have a similar question. I want to print a label when I close the container. My container packing policy has the "print container shipping label" turned to "always" and I have a ZPL print emulator running. My question is how do I associate the label I created in the document routing layout screen to the container packing policy configuration of "always" and will it trigger when I close the container?

    Nice Video. I have a question->> Container type has Length, width and height. But released product>Physical dimensions has Width, depth and height. Labels are inconsistent. Does that mean that length (in container type) should be compared with width (in physical dimensions). Assuming depth and height are same

    • @Scott-Gaines
      @Scott-Gaines  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do believe that they are the same fields even though they are in a different order. The main thing to remember is to keep these dimensions consistent across all products. i.e. use the height as the same dimension across all products. When using containerization the system will turn the product length and width wise to try and fit the item. It won't turn it height wise.

    Hi Scott,
    Do you know any standard way to measurement time between scan license plate and close container ?
    In our business we would like to track efficiency on packing station to easy scale.
    I really appreciate what are you doing for all WHS comunnity !

    • @Scott-Gaines
      @Scott-Gaines  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question. The only thing that I can think of (it's not perfect) is to measure the creation time of the container in the packing station against when the work is generated to move the item to the baydoor.

      @@Scott-Gaines Thanks a lot for Your answer :) For now it works in PowerBi. But we have to develop some extension to catch inital Licenseplate or shipment, because container creation time is a little to late.

    I love the video , thanks , i just have one question, every time you a packing a shipment in the packing station, you are creating a new container, I am not able to find a way to fill two shipments in the same container, why is that not possible?

    • @Scott-Gaines
      @Scott-Gaines  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct separate shipments won't pack into the same container. You can combine shipments though and then pack them in the same container.

    • @timdownie9623
      @timdownie9623 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not possible because a single container (box) can't be shipped on two separate shipments.

    Nice video, what if packing happens on picking. After the picking finished, you have few completed packed containers. So pick und pack in the same time.

    • @Scott-Gaines
      @Scott-Gaines  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is such a thing. On the wave process there is a method called containerization you can add. It basically creates the containers needed as the wave is released. The problem I have with it is you can't change the containers.

      for better understanding the business scenario is: the worker takes a pallet in the beginning, labels it with new number and picks the goods, as soon as the pallet is full, he drives it to staging place, simultaneously he get bill of lading for the that pallet, so the pallet has all identifications now like a label and list of goods , shipment number, address etc, on them. The picker takes new empty one and continue the picking the picking, the route is built by goods weight descending to place heavy goods on the bottom.After last item comes to pallet it moved to the staging location where reside the rest of picked pallets. The pallets are moved to the truck and sent to customer, each pallets has own identification. This all was done based on older AX WMS,off course with additional programming. I am wondering how much of that is possible out of box in WHS.

    What process do you use for packing your items after picking? See full post at dynamicspost.com/packing-station-in-dynamics-365-advanced-warehouse/

      Are you packing the items for final shipment? If not what process are you using?
