I prefer bringing cooked shrimp. If fish ain't biting, I take a sip of my Corona Extra and dig in the bait.
I used cooked shrimp for 45 yrs, mostly because its easy to get and it stays on when casting, even without bait elastics, it always worked well.
I have used cooked shrimp for trout here in Michigan. Works very good. If you figure out cost per bait they are cheaper than worms. Plus you can eat the shrimp if the fish aren’t biting. Thanks for the channel!
How do you cook them ?
Buy them already cooked and ready to eat from the grocery store. You can sprinkle garlic powder on the shrimp for extra scent too.
@@Yatsys_Fishing thanks, much appreciated
That’s great your family goes fishing with you !!
Florida GAR love the cooked shrimp.
Hey Skipper....In Denmark we use cooked shrimps for flounderfishig.....and Cod`s
A hot day on Florida pier with a bag of frozen shrimp... 1 hour later the shrimp are cooked from being under the sun and they worked just the same, lol!
I love it when your Dad gets more involved with the video.
In South AFRICA we call those black tail. Good eating. Those are descent size, but they get much bigger. Up to about 2 to 3kg on the transkei coast.
Bass and catfish in our cove go crazy for cooked shrimp it’s my go to bait for the lake
Very interesting - Thanks!
😎👍
Silver bream steam with ginger & shallots nice.
Hey mate, those are Sargos, They are tasty if you fry them. They're seen a lot in the Middle East. I use to fish those. I am from Lebanon.
Wow awesome, thanks for sharing from your experience! I would love to learn a good recipe for them
Gut em deep em in flour and fry them whole until they are golden and enjoy@@HeySkipper
If they are Sargos they are better than gilt-head bream. At least here in the mediterranean sea the price of those Sargos are much higher so its not only my personal taste
@@HeySkipper As Geo said the best way to cook them is to dip them in flour and fry them. They're awesome. I eat them without lemon Juice. some people do. As well as I am sure that you can find Lebanese flat bread there. Fry the bread after frying the Sargos till they are golden color and put the fish mean on them and eat 😍😍
Those are Black Margate
This is great ! And the music is hittin !!
Porgies are very good to eat. lots of restaurants have them on their menu. Can be filleted and makes a excellent sandwich.. Porgy is a keeper.
I am going to try the cooked shrimp next time I hit the beach. Great idea.
Sounds live a good day 👍
Hi mate, we in downunder call those silver bream.
Use bagged medium frozen shrimp from Sam's Club. It's reasonably cheap and the fish eat it just as well as any bait house shrimp.
Even cooked or non cook if fish is hungry...they eat your bait...I like his video.
That’s exactly what my dad said! Appreciate you 🙏
Hi, its called Blacktails. Plenty along the north coast of South Africa." Great eating fried"
great video !
They are also called Sargos in Portugal. Grilled or fried.
Blacktail very good eating!
Bermuda Chubs, black margate, spottail pinfish.
Hi. That is a blacktail. They are alot is south africa on the west coast. Nice to eat
was about to say that. yep good eating fishing, that black spot on the tail gives it away.
Hey Skipper, here in SA we call the fish you cought with the black dot on the tail "Kolstert" or a "Dassie" nice eating on the coles.
lets stick to english names { is spoken worldwide }....its a blacktail sea bream !
The fish which you asked is (Diplodus sargus). We calling Sargoz in turkey😉
Top video gents, those are black tails , im in Durban South Africa. Pleanty here esp in the winter months when the bigger blackies come out on average of 30 cm. Excellent eating when fried...
We have those here in Portugal, tasty fish on the grill
If trying to catch small fish in the surf, try earth worms. They don't last long, but they do catch bait fish.
Pleasant evening, I from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹. That fish you caught the big one is a good eating fish. We call them Lippie.
Aloha from Maui! I've had some great fishing days using both ahi poke and cooked shrimp
I prefer cooked shrimp. Easy to get, catches fish and makes great snacks.
I've not seen an Asian family fish together. This was a nice video.
From the visual from the space ship going up, you're in south east Florida. I lived in Vero and caught the same fish and found out they are called Melanouria, or Saddled Sea Bream. For some reason, they ended up in south east Florida and are native to the Mediterranean/Greek area and are a delicacy there. I thought they were a version of the They are great to eat...a little bony, but they fried and baked up great.
good video
You were right. Spottail pin fish.
W I use cooked shrimp aswell works really well
it does wonders, no doubt 😁

@@HeySkipper we dnt have a special recipie for this fish but my country is known for tastiest food in the world . i hope you can came to try it her withe ur wife . lot of youtubers came her evry year to enjoy the moroccan food th-cam.com/video/RE8meifwBZI/w-d-xo.html mark did like 5 episodes lately over ther. forgive my english its my 4 or 5 language and self-taught
ok, I am a complete beginner at surf fishing so I have a question. what do the colored beads do?
I would try shrimp scampi
Hey Skipper, I've never seen you guys use Octopus as bait. Why is that? That's actually the best bait ever. Even better than squid. You guys should try it and I'm sure you'll catch much more fish.
the last one is very very good seson it with salt cumin paprika and olive oil and gril them on charcol
The invisible line does it dissolve? Kinda bad to put line in the water as the animals get tangled in it.
“Momma, put your fingers in there.”
Momma resisting: “Why?” 😂
The sun is going down and it’s dinner time for the fish.
I'm from Taiwan
It turns out that you can also fish with cooked shrimps👍👍
4:53 what’s size hook are you using?
We like to use bells to let’s us know of a strike!
Just above the reels at reaching distance..
hey skiper try turtkey skin its very good bait and stays good on the hook
We call this Sargo. Very tasty
Nice. Only take ones you like to eat
Amazon sells invisaline but says that it’s elastic nylon. Does it stay with the hook when you bring it in or fall into the ocean?
Our invisithread stays on the hook until you specifically pull it off in our experience. Thanks for watching!
@@HeySkipper how much is your invisiline?
8:55 we call this fish Blacktail in South Africa, it’s a very nice edible fish
Pliers are essential for fishing. It amazes me how many people don't carry them. Extracting a hook from yourself or a buddy is tough without them.
❤
Some of those fish are Spotail Pinfish,
Hey skipper Tony from Jacksonville fl can u give a maintenance on reel that’s been stuck from not wanting to turn going to George crady bridge tomorrow morning trying to get everything setup so family can go fishing without any struggles with reel thanks for all your setups, new ways to catch fish love the vids if you can help me out and others I’ll appreciate it thanks.
When all else fails, keep trying 😂. I've used brighleaf hotdogs, corn, cheese, chicken, and so many other things that worked at that moment.
lol
yep, sometimes I use pizza, cheese burger, spaghetti with meatballs, success at times....
👍
In Italy we call it Sarago
those fish are called Sar we have them a lot in morocco but we only take bigger ones 1kg and above they are super tasty.
Here's a little hint from an old man. Cook your own shrimp and store them in the water you used. That way they keep more flavor slash smell to them and will attract better.
Thank you for the hint sir
Be safe
Black margate (Anisotremus Surinamensis) , That fish is named after the country I come from and yet I have never seen it before. It looks like a kind of sea bream to me and it must be really good to eat. But tastes differ.
Those fish with the black spot on the tail are called blacktails in South Africa, we call them that ,need to be 20 or 25cm to keep I think in our area and people fish for them ,and the ones that looked the same but were dark are part of the bream family and need to be 30cm to keep ,they grow pretty big
Hello, this fish is found in the Mediterranean Sea. It is called Sargus, and it is delicious to eat
Spottail Pinfish that one u asked about
It worked for me in the med
What did you catch?
Those fish you were catching was spots and the other is a beach crocker with the black on it.
Welcome back daddy
Haha 😆 he is baaaaack!
I caught a stocked trout and wanted to use chunks as bait for pier fishing does anyone know if any saltwater fish would bite onto trout? Since trout is a fresh water fish
Try it. I've used cut up sunfish in saltwater and caught fish.
In south Africa we call cooked shrimp pink prawn. It's deadly bait. We catch tons of bluefish bronze bream and cob with cooked shrimp/pink prawn we also catch spotted grunter with pink prawn. You can buy it here in the stores cooked and frozen as bait.
Ja Boet! You make me homesick 🙂
I like those invisible threads..it works…
yes and the good thing is we have them in stock too.
So, you can check if you want to.
www.heyskipperfishing.com/product/invisi-thread-bait-elastic-bait-saver/
in france the unidentified fish is called " sar ", really good to eat taste like sea bream !
Yeah that's good, really good to know a bit of French culture.
Btw i make lot of awesome fishing products. Take a look, may be you find them helpful.
www.heyskipperfishing.com/
Cheers! 😁
All the fish you caught on the cooked shrimp/pink prawn you can eat. They are all delicious good tasting fish. You will see you will only catch a few different types of species but they are all good edible eating fish
Haven’t even started watching the video yet but cook shrimp works way better for freshwater catfish and drum versus uncooked for me! Guessing it’s the color combination and probably the smell that comes off of them when they’re cooked in the microwave for about 30 seconds along with stinking up my house
Where do you find invisaline?
I make my own version called invisi-thread that is available on my website 😁
What are the best places to fish at? Im in north carolina. Whats your recommendation?
Hey, I believe Florida and Texas are very good places for fishing.
Btw to let you know I've got some killer fishing gear over at www.heyskipperfishing.com.
Check it out-I think it'll help your fishing game big time.
I spotted pitfish pen fish sailor's choice a spotted seller's choice fish and the sheepshead family spotted pinfish wonderful to eat
Sargo de beiço e pinta no cabo. Tá no ES?😂😂
Good day fishing even if you blank. It's always a bonus if you catch fish. It's not called "catching".
this ☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼
I’ve used cooked and raw shrimp for years as bait. Catfish love them.
This was my first time trying 🙃 thanks for watching!
Its called a black tail in South Africa because of the black spot on the tail.
I'm a guide on the st lawrence River. Canadian side and US side. I've been using cooked shrimp as bait since 1990.
That fish with the spot on the tail is called a black tail in South Africa
Dude I love how you spoofed your mom about buying shrimp cocktail from a bait store ha ha ha . She made me laugh by saying why do you always do this to me. lol
i used cooked shrimp the other day on a pompano rig and caught 8 whiting on 8 casts
We call that black tail in South Africa😂
Those fish are called bream. Also Margate Grunt
you need to come aver and fish with me at méxico
Blacktail
💪🏿👑💯🔥👍🏿
🙏🤩🦑🎣🌊
How Many feet si your fishing rods??
That first fish you caught, we.call it a lippy, for obvious reasons. They are one of the best tasting fish in sea.
Due to their high protein diet.
In Brazil fish's name Marimbau or Marimbá he is very tasty!!
Have you tired shore line fishing in Southern California such as Huntington Beach, New Port Beach, etc. I can never get past the waves. Also, I’m not talking about pier fishing.
I would like to see you fish in aggressive waves like the ones we have.
The beaches you fish always look for calm.
What rods are you using?
the 9ft Hey Skipper rod that is about to be released in April and the others are phoenix rods. Thanks for watching!
...the fish at 8:40 in the video is known as (1) a spot tail pinfish, (2) sailors choice, (3) porgy...the are a pinfish's bigger cousin , and are delish to eat, hence the name sailors choice...that was a keeper...
...I cook spot tails on the grill...heads off, scales on (scales on protects it from the heat of the grill...I only use charcoal), butterfly cut from the dorsal, through the ribs to the belly(but not through), leaving it in one piece...the same as you would do for smoked mullet...some lemon pepper and butter...fish don’t need to be huge to be good eating...
