    Almost all the bales here in West Texas are large Square. With lots dairy and beef countless bales come by here day and night. There is no need for bedding but is used in feed rations. Hay is expensive here as it comes here from long distances to feed millions of beef and dairy.

    I wouldn't stack them too close together because those 40% bales could catch fire.

    The amount and variety of equipment on farms these days always amazes me.
    Just curious. What’s an ideal moisture content for bedding? for silage?

    Just my 2 pennies worth of advice I would wrap it now instead of waiting and letting more moisture in. Even if there is moisture they won’t cake up if you wrap Now! Not a lot of experience wrapping cornstalks but wrapping other stuff like straw for bedding I would rather have it dry from future moisture it will shake out fine and they may even eat some of it😂 Thanks much young man.

    Ryan: love your video production like always. Question: did you shoot the slo mo unloading bales with the camera setting or slow it down in post with your editing software. The cloud movement and the subtle shift of the shadows on the ground were cool.

    Hey Ryan got some questions for ya! Would having the bales not wrapped so tight by the baler help with moisture or even having smaller bales help? When you plan on replacing big red with a higher clearance truck?

    Hey Ryan question let’s say you’re in the middle of harvest season and the combine for some reason decided to break down and you want to harvest the rest of your crop but you can’t because the combine is broken down so in the long run wouldn’t it be better to have two combines that way if one breaks down you can keep harvesting with the other one

    • @Blackwellll3066
      @Blackwellll3066 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not worth having 2 combines especially with how much they cost

    • @karlrovey
      @karlrovey ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Blackwellll3066 Exactly, if you can't run both, it isn't worth having both.

    • @randykovalenko1236
      @randykovalenko1236 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need another person to run the combine and with Ryan hauling so much grain to the terminals he cant keep up to one combine. Another truck or large grain cart would help more than another combine.

    It's strange that you guys don't have a tractor with a front end loader for hay.

    • @ericrisch9616

      Might be the operator, we have a 7210 with over 9000 hours just for our hay operation. No problems.

    I see Grant County along with Lafayette and Iowa were mentioned in Steve Lehto's video on his vault channel though not for the best reason as a committee member wanted to make it law to lock up journalists who didn't print exactly what they told them to. Not exactly the brightest thing to say if you don't want something getting out.
    I believe they have been taking lessons from the RSPB who after blaming farmers for falling bird numbers got really defensive when questioned why they don't release the numbers for their reserves or the predation figures for them either.

  • @bobjohnson9603

    What did you expect, baling when you did? Ground is to wet, no way to keep stalks dry. Let them sit and make frozen stalk bales…..better than trying to wrap and making mush.

    I cant see how you justify the expense of bailing bedding for beef cows. The nutrient value you remove from the field alone is a big consideration. Then the fuel, ware on equipment ect. You handle that fodder three times by the time you haul it back out on the field. Millions of beef cows are wintered every year without bedding in far more inhospitable climates than yours with no ill effects.
