Thank you for showing! It’s so nice to hear ppl on the internet say…… in shorter words that everything and everybody isn’t perfect and we all make mistakes. I appreciate that! I’m a stay at home mother of four for the first time I whole life up until 2020. When Covid hit my husband work about a month into it before they laid him off. We’ve been putting off some housework well just because money is always tight even if you work. Being stuck at home I decided to watch some TH-cam videos and start to tackle them. I redid my whole front bathroom for the kids including drywall patch a bunch of holes in the wall from boys with 20 minute mile and actually done a lot and learned a lot my farmhouse style bench is my greatest creation. I’ve been thinking about selling myself but I’m scared to because I am nowhere near good enough to sell. My husband just bought me a circular saw he bought me a chopsaw a few months ago & recently a whole ryobi set of things. I’m going to look but if you haven’t uploaded a video yet, I’m curious to see how your first sale went!? Thanks again for the encouragement

Thanks for the feedback, Candace! My first sale was scary, honestly. And what I found out after that was it gets easier as you go. That table in the video was the best i could do at the time and it was good enough for someone to want it. Of course I've improved greatly along the way and dozens of pieces sold later the scariness has gone away. Watch my videos on selling on Facebook Marketplace. It really is more of a mental hurdle that you have to navigate. It will get easier. I have a similar background as I remodeled our kitchen after I retired from the Postal Service. I, like you watched many TH-cam videos and they helped me get it done. That's why I started this channel, to encourage others like I was encouraged. I have a farmhouse style bench build video too. Those benches are very popular selling items in my area. Please keep me informed with how it goes. I know you're right on the cusp of something good with selling your furniture. You may think you're "not good enough" but someone out there will think your piece is worth buying. Just take action... get past that fear!! You can do it.

Good to see someone wearing hearing protection. A lot of the videos I watch people use eye protection but not hearing protection. Congrats on the sale!!!

I have to admit I’m guilty of not using it plenty of times! Thanks for watching

I like your videos. I’m new to woodwork. You seem very down to earth. I haven’t posted nothing yet. Not sure when. Still learning

I love what I just heard you say! "I'm not to the point talent wise to be able to do that."
It's one thing to see the experts do what they do everyday and it looks easy. But, when I see a newbie doing it, I find it very inspiring.
Your case is special to me, in that I've seen this very table design built by dozens of experts and less woodsmiths. I always wondered why they didn't do the half lap.
I'm planning to build my first one soon. The look on your face as you admitted guilt was priceless and convinced me to hold off on trying that skill for now.
Thank you, I'll continue the video now.

Thanks Buck. Just trying to keep it real. I've gotten to the point where I can do a real nice half lap with tight joints. I do it on the miter saw.

I retired just over a year ago and started wood working.....I’m hooked. I started with a small end table similar to yours and it turned out well. My family said I should think about selling my pieces. Your table looks very good and congrats on your first customer.

Thanks Randy, my story is very similar to yours. My family encouraged me to start selling. It was very hard for me to put that first advertisement up on Facebook Marketplace. I had so much doubt. But it has turned out to be a very nice business. I'm getting orders all the time. I encourage you to just do it! Put that first ad up. Good luck. And thanks for watching!

    Hi Ronnie,
A tip on doing those cross pieces (with no measuring, and no math).
Get a piece of cardboard (old packing box). Place it on the side of the piece, then trace your legs and rails onto it.
Then use a 2x4 (or what ever you are going to use for your cross section) to draw your cross in place on your cardboard template.
At this point, I like to label and cut out my cardboard and use it as a template to mark out my wood.
    Hope this helps.
Similar to you, I am just a hobbyist, who got into the grain in my 50's.

Thanks, I’ve improved quite a bit since that video and am now able to half notch two pieces to fit pretty good. Good tip, though!

@@andrewdavis9021 hey, still a good idea for those starting out. I’m actually creating an app that does all the angle calculations based on height, width, width of board used, along with variations of where the cross pieces are attached (tops, sides, etc). Plus, it will have both Imperial and Metric! I will do a video on it once it’s in the app stores

Thanks, nice sites. Have you built and sold anything yet? If so, what's been your experience with the process? From building to advertising, promoting, etc?

Hey Ronnie how do you like those tekton clamps. I was considering them but worried about the strength of them. Whats your honest review..

    • @RonniesWorkshop
      @RonniesWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm still using those same ones 3 years running now. I am very satisfied with them. A while back I ordered some Powertec ones and they don't clamp as tightly as the Tekton. There may be a better clamp out there but I can only go with my experience.
