So good to see you are on the PCT again! Your positive spirit is always a breath of fresh air! Love seeing Mother Nature over your shoulder - safe travels!
Great to see you back on trail. It’s fun to relive that section of the PCT through your hike. Like you, I started in a big rain and wind storm when I left Campo in 2023’. Thanks for taking us along!
4:14 Monkeyflower. This is probably either Southern Bush Monkeyflower (Diplacus longiflorus) or Sticky Monkeyflower (Diplacus aurantiacus). They all vary a lot in color. • 4:50 Pride of Californiia (or Campo Pea, Lathyrus splendens). The Ceanothus behind it is probably Hairy Cenaothus (Ceanothus oliganthus) due to the violet-blue color. • 5:47 Camped under beautiful old growth Manzanitas. There are a lot of big beautiful Manzanita species in this area including Mexican Manzanita, Bigberry Manzanita, Eastwood Manzanita and White-leaved Eastwood Manzanita. The last two were given their scientific name by Alice Eastwood (1859-1953), a female botanist who has 17 species and 3 genera named for her.
Looks like you're having fun back on the trail this year. Your plan sounds like a relaxing time, no crazy goal of Canada with a time limit. Enjoy the hike!
Thank you! It was a mixed bag of emotions doing a section hike only this time around. I was interested to see how I would feel at the end of it. Of course (you know me by now), I’m making plans to get back out there…I still want to make it to Canada, haha. 🌻🤗
Thank you, Patti! We mentioned you when we were around the Julian area….reminiscing around the camp area you stayed. It’s fun how I get past mental snapshots now from the other times I’ve hiked through particular areas. 🤗🌻
Aww, thank you! Have an incredible experience out there. I only wish I could keep going this year…but I’ll be back for sure!! Safe travels all the way to 🇨🇦! 🌻🤗
Absolutely amazing day 1and 2. Nice sound guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak.add this sound in your bucket list.
Great to see you back on the PCT. I'm reliving Section A with you. So bummed my health keeping me off trail for now. 😢I'm hoping I am strong and healed enough by Fall to get back out. 🙏 Looking forward to seeing the rest of this trip and hiking vicariously with you. 🌻💛
Thank you! I sure hope you can get back out there soon. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with health struggles and will be praying for your complete recovery ! 🙏🤗
Love seeing you back on trail! . . . looking forward to the next one and more from you this summer. I’m always on the lookout for purple apparel- I LOVE the purple sun hoodie! Please share what brand, if you don’t mind! TIA
Thank you Nancy! The sun hoodie is the Crater Lake from Mountain Hardwear. I did buy this in 2021 so not sure if they sell these any longer. Soft as butter and very comfy! 💜🤗
Oh gosh! Thank you for your reply! . . . Yes, they still have the Crater Lake and I actually bought one - last year. I think that maybe the lavender one is no longer available (pretty sure I would have scooped one up if still available!)
It was beautiful for our section hike. 13 days total and only two days were cool and damp. Temps were nearly perfect 70’s/40’s. I’m hoping 2025 will be a low snow year…stay tuned for that announcement. 😃
Hurray! My summer "must watch" is back! As someone close to your age, I really enjoy seeing your progress and appreciate how you explain your thought processes. I have a question: Do you have to register with the PCT in some official way to do a section hike? All the best to you on your adventures this summer!
Aww, thank you! That’s so sweet. No, you do not have to register with the PCTA but on their page they list the areas that would require a local permit. So depending on the area you hike, you may or may not need one. The long-distance permit is great for thru-hikers because it covers all of these listed with just one permit. Have a fun Summer ahead! 🌻🤗 www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail/permits/local-permits/
The video with the straps floating in the frame no worries was just joking saw the comments on your strap in the pictures just gave me a chuckle I’ve done that so many times happy trails
Haha! Well, I’m very much just experimenting with something different and am not quite sold on this new song. I’ll use it for this series but may go back to the other for future hikes. 🌻🤗
@@TikiBirdTracy I follow a few hikers for research mostly (I’m in Texas too). Usually my feed plays automatically and I listen more than watch while I go about my day. When a familiar tune comes on (like your original music), I’ll stop what I’m doing and watch. Regardless, keep making content…
Hi I’m a former A.T hiker fixing to leave on my sb pct I had seen your strap footage your name should be Loosestrap hahaha 😂good luck out there be safe watch your feet happy trails and congrats on trail life
Hmmm, not sure what straps you’re referring too. All mine are pretty snug…except the chest strap depending on elevation i’m hiking. It annoys me. Good luck on your SOBO hike. Safe travels and enjoy your time out there. 🌻
Thanks! Not this time of the year. Plus, this area is a favorite of mine and a “shorter” drive. I’ll get back to NorCal and complete that in the future.
Well, yes, hiking to hike a section I love that is convenient for me to travel to. I wanted to combine training with a trail I enjoy. This was a spontaneous trip and not really a long section hike to connect footsteps. I’ve done all the desert section and some of NorCal. 880 miles completed last season.
At the end of this ~ 6 part series I will announce my hiking plans for the rest of ’24 & ‘25. My hiking partner “Pothole” has plans to hike on the Colorado Trail in July. I also use the term “training” loosely in place of general fitness activities. Anytime I workout, I’m training 🤣 But I do have lofty hiking plans I’m improving my health and fitness for. 💪
I use them as needed, just like anyone else would. If I used them, It was because the ground was soft or there was a threat of wind overnight. If there are rocks already laying around, I usually reinforce at least the main vestibule guylines anyways. I keep my tent pretty taut. Preference!
Glad to see you on trail. Happy trails!
Thank you!! 🤗🌻
