Man I love this guy. I listen to the Jammin at Hippie Jacks concert about once a week in the shop, drives my wife nuts. That concert on TH-cam, Wanted! The Outlaws, and Highwayman on cassette get tons of play while I'm working on bikes or whatever. I don't have RWH on cassette but I keep my eye out. Reminds me of being a kid working in my dad's shop and is one way I try to keep that connection alive and will hopefully pass it on to my boys. Long Live Ray Wylie Hubbard, Willie Nelson, and Chris Christopherson. RIP Waylon and Johnny.
my long time wife and i saw him at billy bobs in fort worth back in the 80s. nobody knew who he was then. I rediscovered him lately. MUCH better now. experience matters.
@@reggiemarsh4269 Ray Wylie Hubbard is the perfect illustration of the old adage; Artist's gotta suffer for their art! Ray's been there, done that and now, he's "The Coolest Cat" of 'em all.
Have you been sleeping like Rip Van Winkle? Ray is legendary, since the 1970's not only here in Texas, but also nationally, he was on Dave Letterman's show numerous times. Not only a singer but as a songwriter also. Let me guess, your young?
Telecaster, bottle neck slide, sings like a...drunk Chrissie Hynde. RWH is one of the greatest song writers that I've ever had the beautiful pleasure of listening to. Every song tells a story and each one just a little bit cooler than the last!
Lucida's "Changed the locks" Has the feeling of desperation on a near sycosis level. And, IT IS ALL in her voice. I've heard others try including the great Tom Petty but Lucinda Williams makes that song HER very OWN.
Only a great writer like Ray can take such simpleness and make it a fucking masterpiece
So many of Ray Wylie’s songs sound like the answer to, “ Hey Ray what’d you do last weekend?”
“I wish I’d a been there!”
