  • In this video B.Tech (Ist year )Experiment is discussed in detail for writing in notebook. How to prepare the solutions in the laboratory for the experiment.
    Note: B.tech students can skip that part that is important for laboratory staff, M.Sc students. How to perform experiment in the lab. The viva questions has also been discussed.
    This concept is important for B.Sc, B.Tech First year, M.Sc, Pharmacy students.

    Is SAP of oil( in the form of triglycerides) less than SAP of the same oil after hydrolysis (free fatty acid formed after reaction)?

    What I remember from our college days we have to titrate complete lot instead of 20 ml aliquot

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We can titrate whole solution, but if we prepare our solution in large quantity then we can titrate 20 or 50 ml and then equate with stock solution like 20 ml contain = x g, 100 will contain= 5x g, only if no further dilution factor is there, thanks for the concern

    please answer can I determine saponification value with Sohlex apparatus. Thanks.

      @ Wai MinHtet you can do, by applying appropriate conditions like you can put your fat and solvent mixture in round bottom rather putting in SOX thimble, and you can take more solvent in reaction mixture. During reaction the solvent collected in SOX thimble you can discard/ reuse that, I hope it may help you. Thank you so much for watching 👍

    Can we use ethanolic solution of Hcl instead of aqueous HCl for titration purpose

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, we should use ethanolic solution of HCl, but if we use less amount of fat then we can use aqueous solution also, thanks for watching

    Why do we take blank reading? Please help.

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching, because to dissolve the fat we used solvent therefore we in one titration we determined (fat+solvent) in blank titration we determined only (solvent) and on substraction we get only fat, that is why it is necessary to perform the blank titration, I hope this will help you, thank you

    Why sap of coconut oil just is 38,7? I think sap of coconut higher than 200

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are absolutely with sap value of coconut oil is around 200, but whatever the results i get I have reported there, but definately I will repeat the experiment and will pin the results again. Thanks for your concern

    How to prepare 0.1N alcoholic KOH solution
    Please explain

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Weight of KOH = N x Equivalent weight of KOH x volume in litres, this is the formula to prepare any solution of any compound. Here N = normality which you wish to prepare; equivalent weight = molecular weight/ n factor for KOH n factor is 1; volume say 100ml to convert it into litres divide it by 1000to convert into litres; so here weight = 0.1N x 56 x (100ml/1000)= 0.56g in 100ml; first add KOH in flask then add alcohol upto the mark . If still you find it difficult you can write me again, thanks for watching😊

      Google statement :
      Dissolve about 6 g of potassium hydroxide in 5 ml of water.Add sufficient aldehyde-free ethanol (95 %) to produce 1000 ml.Allow the solution to stand in a tightly-stoppered bottle for 24 hours.
      I'm little bit confuse
      Please explain what to do

    • @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna
      @SpectrumClassesbyDr.Sulaxna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No it is not necessary to stand the solution for 24h, you can use it whenever you want, one more thing NaOH solution when left for longer while in glass apparatus with tight stopper the stopper sometimes jam due to reaction of NaOH and glass
