    Please pray for me that through these 40 days of lent I will be able to regain back full and eternal Faith, love, trust, obedience, confidence, devotion, and believe that I will be able to get through the battlefield of spiritual warfare defeat the bad thoughts that I can’t control, keep my eyes on the cross and not on the distractions of the world, not feeling doubt when praying, keep the helmet of hope and the 🛡of Faith with me, and like last year but this time keep the faith and hope to my last breath. Giving up Instagram and Junk food. Plz pray for me that I will stay with Him and always need him in comfort in the desert.

    Did Christians ever user Lent to fast like Muslims do for Ramadan?

  • @christiandpaul631
    @christiandpaul631 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I tried searching on line for the answer to this and didn't find it. The question is 'Did Jesus spend His 40 days in the dessert immediately before He entered into Jerusalem to be crucified?' (Some crucifixes show Jesus with His bones visible and very emaciated. I was wondering if that is because the artist was showing the reality of Jesus fast in the desert. The other thing I thought was that the artist was showing that Jesus gave so much... gave His all, and making the point by showing a complete drained and emaciated Jesus on the cross). So was Jesus fast right before Good Friday? The reason was because I wondered how Jesus was able to endure for so long the trauma of beatings and crucifixion for as long as He did. Pilot was surprised that Jesus died so quickly. It seems to me how Did He last as long as He did as opposed to dying quickly? Details such as this cause me to believe more strongly the things that the bible tells us. He died quickly because He was weakened from His fast. These details show that the story could not have been made up. How would the writers have thought all of these details without slipping up.

    • @6williamson
      @6williamson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is wonderful you are following the ministry of Jesus. Most authors put the 40 days in the desert as just preceding his public ministry (matt 4:1-13). However, regading your other questions, there are many things that we will not know before heaven. Even scripture tells us that the Gospels have things that were left out (John 21:25). However, one can be sure of the truth of the gospels, as Paul recounts later about the resurrection, "next he appeared to more than 500 of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are STILL ALIVE..." (1 Corinthians 15:7), which would have been an easily disproven fact (and embarrassing to Paul) if not true.

    You're Luke warm
    -We should be praying ALL the time. We should be speaking to God more than we speak to ourselves.
    - Lent Friday? Wednesday?
    We suppose to lent 40 DAYS .
    NOT JUST FRIDAY. You fostering the profit marketing seafood devil's game. And you should give up something you seek enjoyment thru.
    Because the only enjoyment we should seek is of Christ .

      My brother in Christ, maybe you are already doing this but I figure it’s worth a shot. Go to Mary! Consecrate yourself and be devoted to her! She is our kind and gentle mother and I can assure you that she will never abandon you and she will help you. She will lead you with loving maternal care to the peace and love of her son Jesus. If you faithfully persevere under her care she WILL transform your life. Remember what Christ said from the cross; “Behold thy mother.” Our Lady of Fatima requested that all Catholics pray the rosary daily, offer the sacrifices of our daily lives for the conversion of sinners, obey divine law to stop offending our Lord, and make the five First Saturdays in reparation to her Immaculate Heart. If you do this it will change your life, it certainly changed mine.

    • @MissPopuri
      @MissPopuri 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charity/Almsgiving is outward expression of what is in your heart. Whatever is causing hatred, anxiety, or confusion, we need to figure out how to spread love, peace, and order. God can help with that. Sometimes it is a gentle nudge to talk or ask questions about something that bothers you, we have to look at the story of Finding Jesus in the Temple at Age 12 as a stepping stone to how we must grow in our own hearts.

    Away and stop talking your self righteous nonsense. All your 'Lent' does is gratify the flesh and is just religious twisting of scripture to make the sinner 'feel' better.

    • @gabriellelittlefield5956
      @gabriellelittlefield5956 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Smeaton Lighthouse: so, like the Israelites, God rescues us from sin as he removed them from Egypt. And yet, the Israelites still contained a love for sin and idolatrous worship (ex. Golden Calf Episode). As they traveled through the desert, the Lord had to purge them of their fleshly desires and of their love for sin. He strengthened their will to choose the good. Fasting doesn’t satisfy the flesh but rather does quite the opposite. Just like intermittent fasting, you actually aren’t gratifying your flesh, but learning to submit your passions and desires for food to your will. You aren’t enslaved to your hunger. As we fast, we, like Christ himself-who fasted from both food and drink for 40 days and told us to fast-detach from things that can overshadow our love for God. It is a great season in which we can die to ourselves, that we may all the more rejoice in his resurrection! Hope this helps!

    • @6williamson
      @6williamson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not sure what tradition you are from-- since the scripture is loaded with talk about fasting, I'll assume you think we are some sort of crazy religious people that give up things to make us feel better. A perhaps practical thing you might see in fasting and 'giving up' is this. As a physician i take care of a lot of people who have little money. I find that living a simple life with lots of prayer and fasting makes me much more psychologically available than I would if I drove the typical doctor cars and lived a wealthy lifestyle (and this has nothing to do with how 'good' I am). Patients often keep coming to me just because I listen to them and understand, perhaps how not having a lot affects the way you look at the world. Not sure if that helps, but I tried. Peace
