I have had the rare privilege of attending Lectures of Prof JB Goodenough and Prof Menyuk for three weeks at the Indian Institute of Technology during 1972 summer arranged by Prof CNRRao. Prof Goodenough’book on mahnetism in chemistry was like Bhagavadgita for us and we often reserved the book in TIFR/ BARC libraries till I retired from BARC in 1995. That book was referred to in five of my publications. I am ever grateful to John even today at the age of 83. I have great respect for him and he deserved his Nobel prize decades back. Life lessons here to be learned, don't give up even if you lack talent, don't let the failure to become what you dreamed of make you think you're not going to make a contribution. He changed the world while failing multiple dreams of football glory, being a high level lawyer or a prominent physicist. Just because you're not the smartest person in the room, doesn't mean you will bring less value.

What a bucket of cold water. But still after 3y from this recording of this interview he won a Nobel Prize. Guess is never too late to do something important.
Goodenough inspires so many people who understand the energy makes it possible to manipulate matter & that more energy + energy storage will unlock renewable energy technology to replace oxidizing carbon for heat & power in mobile energy systems : that battery electric vehicles solve the tailpipe emissions problems for which the dieselgate debacle is emblematic. Nissan & Tesla showed the world that BEV's are the future of personal mobility!

Man everyone talks about how inventing the lithium and solid state battery made this gentleman a rockstar but what about his contribution to the invention of RAM (random access memory).
so now it is only a matter of impedance in the plated out lithium or sodium and the trick will fly. hmmm maybe bragga will get it or john. maybe he will get the nobel he deserves. I would think since the water she added being desiccated out would finally get the impedance it needs reduced through another heat treatment after battery function was produced for a few hrs.

As a german who often watches scientific content in english i can say that it is true. Especially ted talkers....XD (happens everywhere also in germany) AND those creepy women voices.... this croaking when the woman gets silent at the end of sentences and they start finding themselves very sophisticated.... XD
The man himself is as extraordinary as his mind and his ideas in it. I wish we had a way to quickly improve humanity by using the genes of people like him to create the next generation. I know I'd gladly give my life up if it could provide the "space" for people like him who actually solve problems and not just write reviews and comments as I do. I think for humanity to evolve, something like eugenics must be employed because a planet of idiots is doomed. I'm one of the idiots but I can see this much. In any case, such great people make me feel useless and my IQ is quite high but my genes make me sick. So I'm seriously not having kids. But why not make the next generation better with genes from better people? Let's evolve. Why not be intelligent about the future of our species? I'm not suggesting eliminating folks. Just select better genes to give birth to next time. It's too radical for the public right? As I said, it's too bad we can't breed ourselves to the next level of health and intelligence.
He may have invented the modern Battery but he's still a member of Skull and Bones. Let's just hope he wasn't to deep into it and just focused his attention on physics

Until they are ready to get the economy off of fossil fuel. To make sure they can still regulate power in the future. They know it will be easy to make. Goodenough is a code name for what level of tech they allow us to have. Solid state batteries will be good enough for the public for now.
