I love how Anna stroked Alice's hair and we can tell what she's thinking ("How can be someone as beautiful as she is being cheated?"). And at the same time, Alice knows that...
@@rebelraccoon9018 I don't know how the character (Alice) works in the play but for me, Alice is a survivor (at least in the film). I love the story and everything behind it but I cannot stand the actual dialogue it sounds like they gave artificial intelligence instructions to have Americans who are in a relationship but are breaking up speak to each other with British slang terms and it is painful to listen to and sometimes makes no sense because it sounds utterly unnatural
So Alice (or Jane) already knew something was going on between Dan and Anna but the security and safety he brought to her didn't let her leave him for 4 years... Even tho she came across as a pretty independent woman. And maybe she didn't fully understood the lenght of Anna and Dan's relationship until he confessed but she always knew they were involved. She wasn't stupid or naive. She was just really in love with him.
I love about how unapologetic her character is and still not come off as rude. She knows how to deal with the people and she's always the smartest in the room.
Anna appears to be a very rigid reserved & slightly timid individual. I don't think she ever had a real interest in Dan. I don't think she was ever in love with him even though she claimed to be. I think she cared about Dan like one would a wounded animal. I think her timidness is why she never completely cut ties with Dan. She's never really honest with herself nor with Dan & Larry. When she is honest she becomes apologetic about it. Anna seems to allow her guilt to dictate her actions. A good example is when she leaves Larry. Also even if Anna & Dan had managed to be together it would've been a good relationship, let alone long lasting
I think the key to why she was interested in Dan is because Anna's ex-husband left her for someone younger (as referenced in the above scene). Anna wanted to prove to herself that she's "still got it" and could woo a man away from a younger woman.
No cap, I don't know how this movie has such a low rating on rotten tomatoes and IMDb. Even the play got nominated for a Tony and this movie, which is almost word by word identical to the play gets barely any recognition
