Plastic siding is junk, I don't understand why people think it is so great. Every car shown was totaled. We are at the mercy of mother nature. She can change or end life in a matter of seconds.
No one thinks its great here locally - People are not given an affordable choice. The builders put that junk on because its available and cheap... if you want to upgrade its so expensive that very few people can afford it. no to mention its fire rating is horrible and the houses are just 4 feet apart in many places here. We need to take the option away on the bases of fire code and bring down the cost of a better product. That will at least force siding manufactures to use a flexible/durable product with some fire rating for what is likely a marginal increase - right now we have not provided them any reason to innovate this product.
@@drone_video9849 You nailed it. Same issue here in the US, So many people have the idea that it is something to brag about, like "It's a great house, it even has plastic siding". I just don't understand why so many people think that way. I have never liked it from the beginning, just the cookie cutter look in different colors. It to me is like living in a house wrapped in bleach bottles. If more people would choose other options it would eventually bring the price down, the more manufactured at a time the lower the cost, We haven't had a hailstorm severe enough here to do this kind of damage since 2002. A lot of the house's just had damage on one or two sides. Even though they were less than 10 years old the siding could not be matched so the whole house had to be re-sided. People just need to bit the bullet and pay more in the beginning for something better than bleach bottles. If they can pay $50,000 to 80,000 for a truck to park in the driveway, that they never haul anything in, then they should be able to afford a better siding.

@@Tsalinger from a building code perspective most of the codes are in place to protect the occupancy. They are not to protect the structure necessarily. Obviously hardie bard( cement ) is going to both cost more and be more durable than vynil.. wood siding would also have been a better choice, of course now you have increased the fire danger, and cedar eventually loses its oils and warps.. there is always a balance. Building codes are more like. A section of vertical to horizontal pipe shall not be connected by means of a sanitary t. This code states that you must use a wye, and a 45 degree fitting if the drainage is to go from vertical to horizontal transition, this is for safety and for function as otherwise the drain will sludge over in time, both a function and safety issue.. Dig ? :)
Awsome comment! and yeah that siding is junk, but I have it on the house too - they want like 15,000 or more back in the day to "upgrade" so almost no one does. My house came with that on it, but if this happened to my place, I would take the insurance money and pay the extra for something else...

Insurance company now are thinking how to make more money
Hailstorm just revealed that those houses were made of pure rubbish
oh look... all the brick and stone siding fared quite well .. the cheap plastic siding ... not so much. Who knew? Not worth buy new houses anymore .. made with cheap junk, plastic and materials that all have to be thrown away and replaced in 5 or less years without a hail storm.
And everyone realised how much vinyl siding is absolute garbage... But seriously that sucks!
Agee! 🙏
Class action lawsuit against siding companies and builders
For what? Vynil siding is not going to hold up against tennis ball hail, this is not the contractor's fault.
Why? Those people knew what they were buying. The correct question to ask is why are the building codes lax when this happens from time to time?
Dig ? :)
They would lose!!😉

Honestly you deserve it because you voted in Conservatives.
Damn, that grey SUV really took a hit. 2:36 Note to self: Avoid a house with vinyl siding in the future.
Awsome comment! and yeah that siding is junk, but I have it on the house too - they want like 15,000 or more back in the day to "upgrade" so almost no one does. My house came with that on it, but if this happened to my place, I would take the insurance money and pay the extra for something else...
The hail tore those doors right off! Crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND the steering wheel. OMG!!!
Hardie board is much better than vynil, much more $$$ too.
@@MrDmadness Insurance companies might start thinking about offering discounts (or increase costs if you dont) for those with something like Hardie Board....
@@drone_video9849 I could not blame them if they did though this would suck for consumers. Hardie as I'm sure you know is way way more expensive, and builders keep the already ridiculously high prices lower slightly without this addition... sold as profit as an extra. Calgary has gotten hail the last few years, in fact the car I'm currently driving was a steal at $500 last year after it got hit by hail and has cosmetic damage. ( gets me from a to b cheap is all I need it for ). Given the amount of hail calgary gets and will get I could see hardie and external shutter blinds becoming a thing, if I was not a plumber already looking for work I perhaps would be moving buisness this direction
