I discovered Concha Buika's music back in 2012. A female co-worker told me she was planning to spend her Friday evening with her boyfriend drinking wine and listening to Concha Buika. I thought to myself, "what a boring evening". But then she played me one of her songs (Árboles de agua) and I was blown away. Her passionate singing and intensity reminded me so much of Nina Simone.
Honestly this analysis just shows how personal you can be at work at the same time as professional. I really envy this part of your job, is so fulfilling. Thx for sharing.
I really love how you analyse the way people sing. How you really got it, like, she sings the emotion out of her soul. Its so genuine, Buika is one of my fav artists
Jeez, I never expected to see Concha Buika in one of your videos! I come from Spanish stock so she gets me everytime. It brings me back to my dad playing his old flamenco records when I was little, and singing along as he shaved every morning before going to work. I lover her so! Check this out. It'll knock your socks off, trust me. Thanks a bunch for this. Cheers from Patagonia!
she is amazing, no words. I have another incredible spanish song for you. two spectacular voices (live), Pablo Alboran and Pablo Lopez, the name of the song - Peces de ciudad - very touching and mind blowing interpretation. please. You are going to love it.
Buika is amazing, period. And Javier Limón... exceptional guitar player and producer, you might want to check out his works with singers such as Ana Belén (Anatomía), Mariza (Tierra), Eleftheria Arvanitaki (Και τα μάτια κι η καρδιά) and sitar player Anoushka Shankar... oh, and that fantastic álbum called "mujeres de agua"...
l discovered Buika through Limon. He produced that other masterpiece of Bebo y Cigala Lagrima Negro circa 2007. l've been addicted since. This led me to discover a whole host of Spanish musicians. Those collaboration you mentioned, l've listened to a million times.. Buika in particular is very special.
Great reaction to Concha Buika, she is an amazing singer. Please I beg you to react to Diana Navarro "El perdón", you can not believe what can she do with her voice. Grettings from Spain.
You really are good at what you're doing young lady, since most viewers and reactors think the two are an item, but you know that the guitarist is watching her attentively, so as to follow her, not because he is in love with her. He is definitely in awe of her voice, and probably her 😉 too, but in this scenario, it's just art.
Welcome to the world of Flamenco, Beth. You watched Camaron+Paco de Lucía the other day, Gods of Flamenco. Passion instills their singing more than technique. I'm pleased for you and glad that you are enjoying it. Thank you.
Awesome song, awesome lyrics and awesome vocals, so penetrating .. Incredibly beautiful. The way he looks at her ... waw. As if he was aware that they made the most beautiful duet in Spanish that year. Which is apparently true. Or like if he was deeply in love with such a magnificent talent. Which I do not know. In any case, a metaphysical song and interpretation. The lyrics are .... waw
Not trained in music, but I know that this voice was not cultivated in the conservatory. It is the smokey , stressed voice of the common man. I hear this in flamenco and American blues shouters, and even in the Korean pansori singers. It is authentic to a fault and evokes tears more often than the pure, refined opera voice.
Dale bro, el tema más mainstream de todos le vas a pasar? Hay bocha de temas en los que el flaco conecta con su voz y su sonido de formas mucho más profundas que en Bajan. Me parece un embole caer siempre en los mismos temas
Thanks for the video Beth. When I suggested this link in your analysis of Camarón de la Isla and Paco de Lucia, it was largely because of the comments that came up in that thread about Rosalía. Flamenco is an Andalusian art, and for some reason many artists who approach that style are tempted to imitate the characteristic Andalusian accent of the Spanish. Rosalía, for example, is Catalan and when she speaks she doesn't speak with an Andalusian accent at all. However, she imitates it when she sings. Buika is from Mallorca and her roots are from Equatorial Guinea, where Spanish is spoken with a very different accent to Andalusia, although she does not have a Guinean accent either. She sings flamenco in pure flamenco style, with a lot of passion, but she does not try to imitate the Andalusian accent. Although her technique may not be exceptional and her broken voice does not seem to be in accordance with female flamenco, her passion makes her transmit this art much more than many others with better technique and voice, imitating the Andalusian accent.
Very much in the vein of Fado, these dark intense lyrics: Holy Gold In the twilight of this divine and prieta night On the tundra that populates my soul always awakens A lament is heard as a prelude to the dead hours Hours spent in agony of a slow death Silence returns to dress my saint in gold The memory of my grandmothers returns to sweeten my wait The records that taught me to love music are back My father returned after 20 years, alas if you came back! If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold You would keep things quiet so you could hear my singing If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold Let everything shut up so that you can hear my desperate singing In the gloom of tonight's bright dark light You hear the vos of my memory just walking slowly You hear the memory of whoever wanted to die in the attempt Oh as I would like, there is how I would like to love you less Oh as I would like to love you less and darker I would like to love you slow No more hardship when it comes to loving you, no more torment And if all my crazy dreams came true I would stop dreaming so much and worship you slow If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold Callaria things so you could hear my singing If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold Shut things up so you could hear me so much Despairing.

Hola Beth, great review of Buika one of my favourite singers, I am an admirer of unusual voices and she has a beautiful unique voice. Can you please do a reaction to Benjamin Clementine an amazing artist with a very beautiful voice, Adios live is an incredible show of his great talent as a singer/composer. Cheers!
Always love your analysis and breakdowns! Would love to hear your thoughts on PJ Harvey's The Dancer (live 1995 recordings) lots of interesting and surprising vocals to dig your teeth/ears into
If you liked Buika, you probably like Diana Navarro ("Adiós", "Sola", "El perdón" or "La gitana) and Miguel Poveda (" Triana, puente y aparte "). Merry Christmas!
Hi Beth, I really enjoy your videos. You provide great insight on the human voice and your reactions are so charming. Would you ever consider doing a reaction for Glenn Hughes? If so I would like to recommend Live In Australia Mistreated. It's of good quality showcasing his voice and you are the best person to talk about him. He is highly regarded in the rock community for his singing ability but no one has ever done a reaction video to him that I know of. Thank you so much and take care.
Beth, this is fantastic! Please, please, make a reaction to Lole and Manuel "y tu mirá". Your expert descriptions enlight my already vast taste for all flavors of music!
Your channel is so informative. I have no idea about how to sing properly. I just know what sounds good to me. Have you ever reacted to Cock Robin? They have a song I've loved since I was a kid, "When Your Heart Is Weak". I didn't see any reactions to them by anyone and I always thought their lead singer was very unique.
Wonderful reaction as always BEth!! Could you react to this wonderful girl called Melani and her song ´Marte´ live performance in Eurovision junior contest? Believe when I tell you that you´ll love her vocals since She can sing opera. This girl needs to be recognized by everybody cos she is incredibly good!! Greetings from Spain! ;)
I now I already requested that, but... PLease react to "Singing till our voices get lost" by the Berlinists. You do an amazing job, can't wait to see you reacting to that amazing performance by the Berlinists. That's deep, emotional, and from a videogame.
Hello Beth, thanks for such wonderful reviews! Your music commentary is always very detailed and accurate. Please review "Tú y Yo" by Tessa Ía ft Carla Morrison. This song features some amazing vocals and it's quickly becoming a fan favorite. Thanks!
MUCHAS GRACIAS, podría usted reaccionar a PABLO ALBORÁN ( Solamente tú,Por fín,Quién ...) o a DIANA NAVARRO (EL PERDÓN,vídeo, SOLA from Salamanca) muchas gracias dama.
I would love to see your reaction with Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy (Jimmy Somerville, Steve Bronski and Larry Steinbachek), I think this song must have been a milestone for British homosexual society at the time. In addition to the unique voice of Jimmy Somerville.
You should react to Eddie Santiago "tu me quemas". In my opinion one of the best salsa singers ever. His live singing are as good as the studio version.
I discovered Concha Buika's music back in 2012. A female co-worker told me she was planning to spend her Friday evening with her boyfriend drinking wine and listening to Concha Buika. Concha Buika's voice is otherwordly. Her voice is earthy. It is deeply soulful, and full of emotion.
she is amazing, no words. I have another incredible spanish song for you. two spectacular voices (live), Pablo Alboran and Pablo Lopez, the name of the song - Peces de ciudad - very touching and mind blowing interpretation. please. You are going to love it.
I agree. Two of my favorite interpretations of all time from brilliant singers

Ole ole ole, Buika is incredible, i love her. Another awesome performance is "jodida pero contenta"
Thanks for choosing Buika ❤️♥️
You really are good at what you're doing young lady, since most viewers and reactors think the two are an item, but you know that the guitarist is watching her attentively, so as to follow her, not because he is in love with her. There is a mistake on the caption. Buikais singing "Oro puro". Buenafuente is the name of the TV show
I was waiting for this!!!! I'm so Happy I never Thought that you would review a Video from Buika
1:53, right away I felt like not only is her tone "husky", but she reminds me of kind of a female Seal ["Kiss from a Rose" singer].
They have actually done a duet together: th-cam.com/video/uBbbSETsxnU/w-d-xo.html
Buika broke my heart the first time I heard her, i have never been the same.😂
Laaaaa amo a concha. La escuchaba en mi adolescencia
QUE GUAPA ERES.UN ABRAZO DESDE SEVILLA❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
As far as you know, flamenco is a music of passion and that music is a soul of Spain and the reason why we are SPANISH!!😊😉
Awesome song, awesome lyrics and awesome vocals, so penetrating .. Incredibly beautiful.

Pls pls pls react to Luis Alberto Spinetta!!!! I think that reacting specifically to "Bajan" is a great option! Greetings from Argentina

Concha Buika es maravillosa

Let everything shut up so that you can hear my desperate singing
In the gloom of tonight's bright dark light
You hear the vos of my memory just walking slowly
You hear the memory of whoever wanted to die in the attempt
Oh as I would like, there is how I would like to love you less
Oh as I would like to love you less and darker I would like to love you slow
No more hardship when it comes to loving you, no more torment
And if all my crazy dreams came true
I would stop dreaming so much and worship you slow
If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold
Callaria things so you could hear my singing
If you came back, my saint would dress you in gold
Shut things up so you could hear me so much Despairing.
