      Will it still work for zoom if you use a splitter on your phone?

    Hi... I purchased this BOY BY-M1 microphone for zoom using my smartphone... I ran some tests a few days ago and your right it didn't have the option to change the mic however I found that it still worked... I tested with people in zoom and they could hear me clearly... very interesting...

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the mic should work just fine when it's plugged in. But I believe it disables the speaker.

    • @pomz1744
      @pomz1744 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ yes you would be right too. For this case I'm lucky I won't need to hear through speaker as I only need to use the mic only for this type of setup.
      It's for church and I have my mobile close to the lecturn with the mic clipped on it... I'll be controlling and listening from another phone.
      Thanks for the video.

    You do not need a bluetooth speaker.. you just need a "female to two male audio splitter" (make sure to buy a quality one, and aslo make sure that one male socket is for mic and the other one is for only audio output. My splitter has two jacks, one is red color and the other is green) .. then you can plug this mic to the female socket and plug the mic jack (red color jack which comes with the splitter) to the laptop. Make sure that you plug the mic jack.. the other jack (green color) from the splitter will remain unplugged. Laptop will automatically recognize the device as the mic and laptop speaker will not go off.. I used this method to use my earphones as the mic and to get the sound from the laptop speakers. I was struggling at first too.. but finally around 2am today I figured it out by myself.. hope people will see my comment and ease their burden 👍👍🤟🤟

    Thanks Markus, very useful explanation. I had come to that conclusion, but didn’t know why my Boya worked that way on my iPad. Much better to get the dirt from you than bang my head against the wall.... during a contest!
    I got the same microphone that you have but it’s double so I can do interviews and two-voiced webinars. I use it on my laptop while the speaker output is on usb.

    There is a lavalier microphone that allows me to make video calls or video conferences with my cell phone and at the same time use the cell phone speaker. That is, speaking into the microphone (to improve the audio) and listening through the cell phone speaker. I have tried some microphones on my cell phone but they immediately block my cell phone's speaker

    I got this mic today. Works perfect with my phone with the switch in the "Off/Smartphone" position. But my laptop doesn't receive a signal until I switch to the "Cameras" position. Even then the sound isn't that great. My laptop has a headset input and I only got it this year, so pretty sure the port is TRRS. Any idea what's going on?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the sound is bad, are you sure it's coming from the mic and not from your internal laptop mic? One way to check is to scratch the mic and see if that generates sound.

    • @sandungoonaratne9747

    Thank you! Could I use this microphone with my smartphone just for streaming? I mean the others hear me but I don't hear them?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could potentially work! However, there are a few challenges. One is that if you don't have a native headphone jack, you need an adapter. The second one is making sure that the phone uses the external mic. The phone may or may not choose the external mic automatically. And if not, you'll need to choose it manually, which is not really an option in all streaming applications.

    • @vilneleskulturoscentras8749
      @vilneleskulturoscentras8749 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ Thank you for your answer! Could you tell me what is native headphone jack? I have one with three strips (TRRS) for my microphone.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's the one I mean, a TRRS jack. It's just that many phones these days have gotten rid of headphone/headset jacks. On my OnePlus 5 there was one, on my OnePlus 6T I have to use an adapter. On the Boya mic you can switch between TRS and TRRS with the, well, switch.

    Can you have the BOYA BY-M1 and a Polysync 20 connected to a laptop at the same time and be able to speak in the microphone and the polysync 20.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that should work fine. Just select different mics and speakers on Zoom or any other application. In fact, I often use the Poly Sync 20 with a separate USB boundary mic. It's the MXL mic I have listed here: kit.co/markuspresents/hybrid-meeting-setup

    My laptop (Dell Latitude 7390, with a single 3,5 headset jack) doesn't take input from this mic. There's no problem connecting headphones via Bluethooth the problem is the input from the mic doesn't work. There are 100 of confusing videos about this problem with conflicting solutions. Some say you need battery/camera mode, others that you need an adapter etc. I don't find many TRRS to TRS. Or will the splitter help getting the input in? Great value though if you get them to work...

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a pretty confusing topic! On my laptop it works well in phone mode.

    • @frida507
      @frida507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Christopher Smith Yes! I bought an adapter, not sure what it's called. It has two separate jacks for mic and headphones and goes into a combined headset jack on the laptop. I think it's the same type you could use if you have a gaming headset with two separate lines (green and pink) but you want to plug it into a laptop with one single headset jack. Sorry I don't know the proper terminology. But the staff could figure it out when I explained in a computer/tech shop.

    Thank you. Can you recommend mic / mic setup for a teacher who needs mobility within the classroom where the Zoom training is being presented. For example, there is a teacher desk and a lab type table setup for teacher demonstration with white board behind. Is there a reliable quality wireless or other setup that you could suggest for this scenario? This is not a hybrid Zoom with both live and remote groups... Just a remote group attending the class/meeting that includes lecture plus demo at more than one location within the room.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have two choices. One is a wireless lavalier mic. The Rode Wireless system is great:
      amzn.to/2ZdBuR1
      The second choice is a conference speakerphone. I use the Calisto 7200:
      amzn.to/35ME57m
      The benefit of this approach is that you won't get the problem I mentioned where the laptop switches off the speaker.
      You can hear how it sounds at different distances (3 ft to 15 ft) in the second half of this video:

    For a phone a 3.5mm jack, I think you could get a 2-1 adapter that split into a mic cable and a seperate speaker cable, then play phone audio through the speaker.
    Not sure if they offer the same thing for usb-c.

      Perhaps that could work! Never tried that kind of cable. I've just seen the splitter cables for using two headphones.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing if it's a desktop motherboard, there should be separate mic and headphone/speaker jacks.

    What about the latency?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since it's a wired connection, there are no latency problems. Bluetooth would be a different thing.

    can we off the mic from the button on the mic itself without touching my laptop

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you connect to a laptop headset jack, the mic should always be off. If you're asking whether you can mute it on the mic, the answer is no when connected to a headset jack.
