    Really enjoy your videos. I'm thinking about building an RV10 or 14 and you've given me a lot of ideas for many things! Thanks for sharing!

    Great video again. For an amateur built airplane you approach a lot of details with professional opinion and ideas. What is your background?

      @@BuildFlyGo I am currently reading the Aircraft Wiring Guide by Marc Ausman. I am very impressed looking at all the cables running through your RV-10. I am still in the state of gathering information and building an overview. Can you recommend any software you used to document the electrical wiring? In the end I will most likely buy the panel and harness from SteinAir. But to get a better understanding of the components involved I want to at least try to document them using a suitable tool. I am currently using onshape to draw the panel. But I think it is an overkill for documenting the wiring. Enjoy building! Best regards from the snowy Swiss mountains Markus

      @@markusisler8830 Aeroelectric Connection is the Bible of aircraft electrical design, highly recommended. As to design, I used the installation manuals, which have nice diagrams in the back, and annotated those. That plus a spreadsheet and slides for diagrams, everything in a big labeled binder.

    I'm loving your vid series!. I'm nearly done with my RV0 emp kit (back ordered parts). QB fuse is 9+ frustrating months out. As a fellow IT nerd (cyber) I'm also enjoying the advantages of 3D print modeling in my build. Do you post your STL files like the O2 frames or GPS antenna mock ups? Also, your early avionics post included designs for the trays to hold the equipment under the G3X screens. Wondering 1) if you stayed with that design, and 2) if you could share your CAD files for others (me) to enjoy the great design?

    • @BuildFlyGo
      @BuildFlyGo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m posting all the 3d print models on printables.com. Happy to put the antenna brackets up there too but they are so simple I figured folks would design their own :) Same for the tray (which we did not use) it’s just a sheet with 4 bends ;)

    What did you guys use to paint the gray primer in the seat area and cabin area? I also have everything painted. Akzo and want to make the cabin area a nicer color. Did you spray it all after it was assembled?

    Hey my man looks awesome …. I’m about to start fuse but I’m trying to plan for wiring now. Did you guys use all shielded wiring throughout? And how far does data wire need to be from lighting/electrical wire?? Looks great !!!

      COngrats, it's a fun project. We used the wiring called out by the equipment manufacturers in the install manuals. The docs will list exactly what they want you to use to make sure everything works right.

      Angle riveted to the panel. I did screws in the last plane and decided this time rivets would be a better finish.

      In the right side of the baggage compartment, behind the rear seats. This works for us, please make sure to read the manufacturer docs to make sure placement meets their requirements for your aircraft ;)

    • @BuildFlyGo
      @BuildFlyGo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have a Lycoming IO-540. The problem with going with a non-standard engine is you also have to design a new cowl, engine mount, cooling, fuel system, etc. It can easily add another year to the project :(

      @@BuildFlyGo interesting, so no master interconnect diagram for the whole system.

    • @BuildFlyGo
      @BuildFlyGo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, we didn’t find a need. We printed each connector and wire diagram page off from the component manuals and annotated them. That way it’s easy to look at one connector and know what’s pinned and where it goes.

    Would you consider build assist? :)

    • @BuildFlyGo
      @BuildFlyGo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of building for me is the experience of learning and building an airplane, so build assist would take that away. BA is good if you just want an airplane and minimal involvement in the planning and build, which is perfectly reasonable, just different missions.

    • @user-ej9jq2zf1y
      @user-ej9jq2zf1y ปีที่แล้ว

      what does build assist mean"

    • @BuildFlyGo
      @BuildFlyGo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-ej9jq2zf1y someone, usually a company, is paid to build part of the airplane for you. The FAA requires that you build 51% but the other 49% can be a commercial builder. Note that the airplane kit already arrives at some level of completion, so the kit company will need to tell you how much is already done for you to do the math and fill out the form. At the end of the build, you sign and notarize a form saying you built 51%, so it's a big deal to lie and have someone build more of it than they should for you.
