Happy Anniversary! In July it will be 36 years of marriage for my husband and I. I have a good marriage with 4 kids, my oldest having a degenerative condition since a young boy. It’s been tough at times but it’s also brought us closer to God through prayer for enduring what’s to come. With my son being totally dependent and not even being able to communicate anymore the many times we consider an inconvenience has become an offering and a blessing instead. I see God in my son! I would have loved to have more than 4 kids but under the circumstances with our son, God just allowed us to have 4. Aside from praying individually our daily prayers, we also come together in the evening and pray as a family. Through prayer, and putting God first, we have had many spiritual blessings. 🙏
Congratulations! My husband and I are approaching 24 years, with 8 beautiful children, a son-in-law, and a grandbaby on the way. Nothing i dreamed about growing up or in college came close to where I am today, but I chalk it up to God's Providence, His timing, and He knows better than I do! ❤
We are celebrating 25 years this summer. It's a miracle because we were divorced 10 years ago but have been healing for the last 5 years. Our children's lives are turning around too ! The best piece of advice I think I have received during our marriage is to never go to bed angry at each other, and that's scriptural-"Do not let the sun go down on your anger." Ephesians 4:26 When that happens, going to sleep upset with your spouse, the evil one has permission to "work" on you, affecting your perceptions and influencing your thoughts, keeping you upset. This carries over into the next day and can keep affecting you. As a result of that long ago given advice, if there is anything that we need to clear the air with each other about, we are sure to do it ASAP, and so it never makes it to the next day. You start each day new in God's Mercy with each other and that is the greatest thing that has preserved our love for one another. We have been married going on 31 years this October.😊❤️🙏 Loving God first together, where love for God is the first priority makes it easier to love one another well. Congratulations on 14 years of marriage. We have been married 38 years. It is so important to have very deep and hard conversations before marriage about the important things and priorities in life. Parents should definitely have these conversations with your children as far as choices of friends and those you chose to spend your time with and then as they get older those they chose to marry. Keeping God the most important focus is key, communication is also very important for a healthy marriage. Attending marriage encounter every few years is a great tool for a healthy and happy marriage.

Never lose hope in the Lord. He has great plans for you. Give him your list...what you want in a woman, and be specific. After a long and disappointing dating time, I realized I had not given it all to God. So I gave Him my list. Within a week, for real, God "opened my eyes" to a great friend I had known for six years. 36 years later, God is still faithful to our marriage that He destined. Our son will be 33 soon and he is in the same spot as you. I will be praying for both of you. 🙏❤️

I have been married for 31 years and for the most has been a very bumpy journey to say the least, you see I come from a long line of hot headed women’s that took nothing from their husbands, including my mom . So you can imagine my conduct in my own relationship with my husband. He as well had his baggage, being adopted, and not having his adopted father around much . We were always arguing but something kept us together, I believe it was those words for better or worse. I am sharing this because , the 2 of you are so beautiful together, but at the same time, I want people to know that God can transform even a broken marriage he did for us . The best lessons I learned from our 36th yrs of marriage is patience and understanding aside from loved. We all not perfect and we have indifferences on something and somehow having patience to one another is a big role. You both are a poster couple for a good marriage. I married too young and frankly I didn't know what a marriage was suppose to be like. My parents were married until my father passed and then my mother passed two years later. I believe it was a good marriage. I had an idea of what a perfect marriage would be but we were young and dumb. We stayed together for 47 years but in reality had little in common. The last few years we were retired and a month before he passed, I told him we should separate. So of course I feel somewhat responsible, but he didn't take care of himself. We also lost a 13 year old grandson six months earlier unexpectedly. You need to have work shops for young couples so they can evaluate if they will be good for each other. Happy anniversary, Janelle and Ken. Well , DIgna and I have been married for almost 23 years after 7 years of dating. I do understand the challenges of Catholic married people in the US. It is really different from us here in Indonesia with most people still value traditional morality. I guess you make a good point of having a community with people who share the same values. When we were in the States, the Indonesian community is our bedrock. We had our routine prayer group meetings with our whole families. In addition, we have special sessions among dads and moms. By so doing, we kept our strong faith in Jesus in His teachings.

I've been married for almost 4 years in July. It has been a roller coaster. My advice would be pray for your spouse. I prayed a 54 day rosary novena and it was amazing.
Just popped up on my feed a year later… my wife and I just celebrated 15 yrs in April, and now have 5 kids. The love truly does grow exponentially, not that I didn’t love my first children, but I can’t believe just how beautiful our 6 month old is, and how much more I appreciate all of our children with each child we have. It has taken us a long time, but we are finally starting to learn how to have genuine belly laughing fun as a family… like recently at the dinner table we started playing a really dumb and funny game called “what am I saying?” - the primary way of communicating is using our eyebrows😂 and then we usually say something like I love you… or some really random extremely long run on sentence that you obviously couldn’t have said with just a few eyebrow gestures! Fun for the whole family - I love how every family has it’s own quirks and inside jokes - find yours and embrace them - and absolutely make sure you pray everyday, and bless your entire family, frequently, not just at night! Oh yes, and kiss your spouse in front of your kids and show them how to honour their father or mother.

I've been married for almost 4 years in July. It has been a roller coaster. My advice would be pray for your spouse. I prayed a 54 day rosary novena and it was amazing.
Just popped up on my feed a year later… my wife and I just celebrated 15 yrs in April, and now have 5 kids. The love truly does grow exponentially, not that I didn’t love my first children, but I can’t believe just how beautiful our 6 month old is, and how much more I appreciate all of our children with each child we have. It has taken us a long time, but we are finally starting to learn how to have genuine belly laughing fun as a family… like recently at the dinner table we started playing a really dumb and funny game called “what am I saying?” - the primary way of communicating is using our eyebrows😂 and then we usually say something like I love you… or some really random extremely long run on sentence that you obviously couldn’t have said with just a few eyebrow gestures! Fun for the whole family - I love how every family has it’s own quirks and inside jokes - find yours and embrace them - and absolutely make sure you pray everyday, and bless your entire family, frequently, not just at night! Oh yes, and kiss your spouse in front of your kids and show them how to honour their father or mother.

My husband and I have been married for 19 years. My best piece of advice for marriage is 1. God must be first. 2. Put each other before yourself. 3 You and your spouse must be on the same page for raising kids. 4. Pick your battles. Not everything is worth the fight.🤣
It cracked me up when Ken used that analogy. I used the same one with my kids, but instead of a chair I mentioned a table. I don’t remember hearing anyone else use that one. I guess as the old saying goes, great minds think alike.🤣
