You seem very knowledgable on Geimaiko culture! I've been watching your Geisha Henshin for a while, and I think it's very cool how you're doing all of this. I know a bit myself about Geimaiko and the culture^^
There actually is a point that Geiko stop learning, or are concidered intelligent enough to know exactly what they're doing. It's called a Natori Geiko! I'm not sure if you've heard of them, but these are Geiko who have fully mastered their craft. These Geiko are held in higher regard, I believe. I'm not too sure myself if they stop learning at this point, but from what I know, I think they do.
I've fallen in love with Gion Kobu (it's the most popular Hanamachi, of course I have). I love all of the Okiya, but I think that Tama Okiya is my favorite by far^^
I'd like to know if you have a favorite Hanamachi in Gion, or even a favorite Okiya in Gion Kobu!

@@bunbun08 Thankyou so much! ❤️🙇‍♀️ I didn't know about Natori Geiko, how interesting! 😁 I can imagine they are held in high regard, it's not easy to reach that level of their craft! I imagine there's probably not many of them existing today. But that's dedication to make it to that level! 🌸
Thats a tough one! I think I would have to say Gion Kobu as well, it's so iconic and well known! 🌸

@@thehoustongeisha I'm glad we're able to agree! Gion Kobu is filled with a lot of interesting traditions and cultures, I love it! Especially the Miyako Odori, absolutely beautiful if you ask me. 🙇‍♀️

Ma'am, may I know how to set up a geiko/maiko wig? What are the necessary accessories I need?
I'm currently working on my own "henshin", trying to look like Geiko Mamefuji. It's just that the wig I bought is a machine wig from Taobao, not the authentic one due to budget, sorry.
It's more of a cosplay than henshin but I wish to achieve the authentic look. Thank you.

@@dylan8736 Oohh Mamefuji san is so pretty!! 🥰 Nothing wrong with being on a budget, I understand that entirely! My wig isn't even an exact Geiko wig- it's actually a wedding katsura! 😄 But it is very similar to the wigs geiko wear and was easier to find online. :) But even a decent cosplay wig can work!
As for hair accessories (or as they are called, 'kanzashi'), geiko tend to have more simpler kanzashi. You will need at least a kushi comb, and a tama kanzashi or hirauchi kanzashi (they're decorate hair pins for the back). You can also make maezashi out of a brooch by adding a hair pin to it (maezashi is like the brooch looking pin on the front of the top part of the wig). You can find these items on places like Etsy and Ebay- some are inexpensive. But you can also find very similar items on Amazon or other places online that will have a similar look and feel and are inexpensive as well. :)
