Kind of disappointing to see this.
I recommend researching the predatory, unethical, and illegal practices that they employ on their "Customers".
Not trying to pass judgement, just trying to spread awareness.
yeah betterhelp has some predatory practices, I recommend finding a better sponsor
@@PetuniaOnDaBeat You won't, I will. Pass judgement, that is. Betterhelp was caught SELLING PERSONAL MEDICAL INFO to Facebook. Don't use them. Ever.
The folding wooden ruler always makes me think of my grandfather.
Brick layers/masons use wooden rulers here in the States. And you cam buy in big box hardware stores although most don't.
That's the best explanation explanation I have heard on how to set up the miter bit. Great job!
The folding ruler is called Schmieche in Germany and is mainly used to open beer bottles which you can't do with a tape ruler 😊
That's the first time I heard the word "Schmieche" :D. According to a very quick Google search, that word is mostly used in Saxony. I only know it as a Zollstock ;-)
@@MatthiasSchippling doesn't makes sense because not a single "Zollstock" measures imperial. They are all metric. It should be a Zentimeterstock.😄
@@ETOE Well, I also know it as "Metermaß" ;-). But the tool itself predates the metric system, so I think it's understandable that people kept using the old name :D
You can definitely open beer bottles with a tape ruler 😉
@@ETOE Well, in swedish it is called "tumstock". Tum = Inch (Zoll). And no, it is not in inches. I blame the French
since we (by law) have to have a first aid kit in the car and have to replace them every couple years I always kept the old ones in my home shop. even though nothing bad happened as of now, it's really useful to have some bandages for all those small nicks ^^
I used a chinese lock miter bit, but the quality of the resulting joint was very bad. I then ordered one from fraisertools. What a difference! I now order all my router bit from these guys in Italy.
Awesome story telling, great vid! 🙏🏽
👋 , Better Help is great for people with money, But if you don’t have money, listen to music and watch TH-cam, and if you don’t have friends or family to talk to, find something that you enjoy doing, 10/12 years of mental and psychological abuse, I am English living in France, and can speak French, so no one to speak to,
I listen to my music through my transmission line loudspeaker cabinets that I made, they sound amazing, A Great use for the compound mitre router bit, Even one better still, but extremely expensive, Litze , German tool manufacturer , not sure if I have spelt it correctly,
Keep up the great work, stay safe and enjoy music it helps,
Better Help is not great in any way. They are a fraudulent company designed to pray on vulnerable people.
The Swedish Maker, Wow, this made my day brighter! Thank you!
That comment made mine :) Thank you!
"Important part of workshop is safety" wearing ring and watch when using the jointer 😅
If you are knocking a batch of boxes out then this is by far the best way. I have a cutter for this on my spindle moulder (shaper for our friends in North America) and it gets a lot of use.
Microjig Lock miter bit makes it even easier. First time I set it up, got a perfect miter. Sold me.
Sorry, this bit comes only with 1/2" or 12mm shaft.
Does not fit into my Router with 8mm and IT costs also around 100$>
@@Chris-14all It might be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Spend on one bit or more on multiple bits. Running a lock miter bit should be done on a router that is big enough, powerful enough, to run 1/2" bits. Only my opinion :) But some times the budget doesn't allow, I get that.
It’s probably the one set of tools that we all don’t invest enough into.
Nice looking box and a treating router bit.
Awesome video! Love the look of your medicine cabinet too, gonna work on one for me!
Thanks! Hope to meet soon again so that I can pick your brain more on the universe :)
@@TheSwedishMaker looking forward to it! 😊
I can relate, man. Lost mine 12 years ago. I was 25, him - 46. I have not recovered from that still and not sure I ever will.
once it is setup correctly, just pass some wood on both sides, and keep them it will be fast easy to setup the next time using them.
I am sorry for your loss, sadly I can relate to it all too well. I also had no luck with miters, until I built a dedicated cross cut sled. I also don`t use the digital angle-finder, I use a 45 ruler. it is much more accurate for setting the table saw angle. now, with my dedicated sled, I get PERFECT miters every time- on a not-that-good table saw. and if by mistake the saw is not 45, I cant slip the sled through and get the material ready for cutting, and it lets me know I need to adjust it. very quick set-up, consistent and very good results.
Folding rules are awesome and my favorites have the "inside measure" feature. First aide should be in every shop along with at least one fire extinguisher
Honestly if theres 1 thing you shouldnt worry about hiding for 'looks' its that tourniquet which should almost have its own spot on the wall and be easily accessible. If you pass out after an accident it could be very bad.
You are killing me.....using that valchromat for a jig...... // Good video. I see those miter bits on IG all the time, and they definitely looked like a lot of work to setup, and you've just confirmed it. Seems like with that amount of setup, you could just get it right on the table saw.
Or a cheap router and have it permanently set up (says the hand-tool guy who would rather make full blind dovetails...).
I've had one of those bits for a year now (in yellow) I'll be able to set it up now Thanks Pierre.
Nice vid 👌
A folding ruler! Must be something new :) It's not like my great grandfather allready had one
I bought a similar bit three years ago and I had a small router table that used the rotating collar on my dewalt router to make adjustments. I struggled with setup but made a 1/2" plywood cabinet and really liked the corners. Now I have a router lift in a large work bench but it's in storage until my new house and shop are built. I look froward to trying it again with the new setup.
Can you explain the tool you used to rout out the plus in the cabinet door?
BAND-AID HYDRO SEAL bandages are the best to keep around they are fantastic
Great video I’ve heard the same thing in other videos that this bit is hard to set up up once you get it set up it works great. Great job on the first aid kit box looks great
I bought that same router bit a decade ago and tried it a few times. I found it a bit fussy to set up and tucked it away in my router table as a figure it out later project.
When i bought a bit like that it came with set up blocks for 3/4". However, i don't tend to mill stock to exact nominal dimensions, so make my own set up blocks by keeping the final test pieces for future use. Then set up is super quick.
I got a folding ruler in a tool box from my great grandfather
I like the video and the build. I will definitely have to put a medical cabinet in my shop, way overdue. As for the router bit, each to his own really. I'm trying to use my router more, but continue to use the table saw because, to me, it is quicker to set up and I feel as if I have more control with it (just not enough practice with a router I suppose).
I would recommend some steri strips. As they make a good replacement for stitches. I don't think they make them in black though.
I've been thinking about trying this bit and now i have to buy it, great video and see you soon
See you soon! :)
Nu tänkte jag att " nu jävlar har han hittat någon produkt som kan sälja som fan! " 8min senare.... -Plåster ! 😂😂😂
hahaha - ja det var inte världens grej 😂
You can buy setup blocks made of HDPE plastic. They save a lot of time!.
My first aid kit is blue role, CA glue and accelerator. But I do have a one handed tourniquet incase stuff really goes south.
Hello, what material do you use to make the door?
Folding rulers were quite common in the US some decades ago before tape measures got popular; at least in the Northern US. My dad had one as his main measuring device. Pinched my fingers on those things numerous times.
haha yes they can be a bit pinchy :)
I think that’s a European thing. German contractors have folding rulers, a guy measured my garage h yesterday with one
This is a really beautiful first aid box.
Better help is a scam stop supporting it
This folding ruler is not anything special, I have owned it for 55 years and it belonged to my grandfather and it is normally available from various brands in do-it-yourself stores.
IMO, miters on the table saw or miter saw, if table saw, offcut side for safety, and lots of practice. Just too fiddly on the router unless you're doing a lot of the same cut.
For real short runs (one), short edges and serious precision... shooting board with support for miters.
1:55 tell me about these work pants, please. Where can I find them?
So I use superglue on my cuts, I've spoken to a few doctor friends who agreed with it... They best way to use it is to out a few drops on any blood that comes out to form a superglue scab.
I started doing this afyer i went to the ER once and thats exactly what they used. I asked wht the adhesive was and they said cynoacrilate (medical grade superglue is slight different than the shop stuff, but not that much)
You can reaserch it if you feel sceptical about this and you'll find a lot of stydies that corroborate the safety of this method.
If the cut is big a few steristrips and superglue on top works great.
I keep them in my shop too!
Might have to make a fancy cabinet for it like you did 😍
We used it all the time as medics in the army for small wounds.
Same here 😀 Stanley Knife through to the bone on my left forefinger while wiring the new office and, after a reasonable wait in the local walk-in emergency centre, that's exactly what they did. Superglue and Steri-strips.... Won't be wasting valuable NHS staff time again... I've got handy stocks of both in the office and workshop.👍
Possibly need some bigger ones next to the log store... the chainsaw can make an awful mess 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers 🍺
This bit confuses me as I would have thought a simple 45° router bit would do the mitre. This bit seems to give a different profile for enhanced gluing / surface area, but if we’re just thinking about basic mitre to compete with the table saw, then I’m not sure why the simple bit wouldn’t be the option here?
It's not just a replacement for a 45 degree cut on a table saw but actually an improvement because two sides are locked together in this miter, making clamping much easier than for a standard miter while at the same t7me enhancing its strength.
nice joints!
My grandpa always had and used a folding ruler. I have such fond memories, thinking it was SO cool! Looking for a good one here in the US now
The original is from Hultafors, should be able to get it in imperial units too :-)
@@Lib3x the good ones (Hultafors and Bahco) usually come with both metric and inches.
Tak!
Thank you so much for the support! Truly appreciate it
I need to check my first aid kit as Ive had it over 20 years (luckily Ive never needed to use it and most of the stuff will be out of date!!😂
I’m looking forward to using my folding ruler great video as always I’m loving them
Thanks bud! Yeah you can maybe replace some of the old band aids with some new black ones :)
Yes I’m on it just need some black bandages
You seem like a decent man. I would assume you dont know what "Better Help" actually is. So I would strongly suggest looking into it. Upper Echelon made a video about them recently showcasing in detail their scummy business practices.
Very nice 😍
Thanks Ola! :)
That folding ruler was invented by germans and is used by every single german craftsman/woman
Can you join two pieces of plywood with this bit??
absolutely!
@@TheSwedishMaker 👍
Vänta lite... är tumstockar en typiskt svensk sak? 🤯
Never seen a folding ruler ?! Are you kidding me? Go to any garage or estate sale in America, and you will find them. Why don’t we use them anymore? Can you say Angstrom Swedish man?
Bandaids? No, you're selling novelty stickers, not for medical use.
Brilliant!
The old "Not a flamethrower" trick. 😂
Lightbulbs? No they are electric heaters with E27 fitting an glass covers.
@@keithviolette5870 I call it the "For novelty use only" trick
Tak!
Folding rulers are used in Denmark too.. I don't think a pair of work pants can actually be considered work pants without that ruler. Even the clothes in Denmark has a special pocket that fit the size of a ruler. Love them
Agreed! A pair of pants without a holster for the folding ruler is useless :)
Not better help😭
My folding rule has a built in level as well as a protractor.
Hope for the best - prepare for the Worst. A First Aid Kit & Fire Extinguisher should exist in any place where Personal Protective Equipment is also called for. Additionally, Eye Wash baths should also be included when you're using Spray Paints, 'fast'-adhesives and solvents.
Du har en likadan rikt/planhyvel som jag =). Har du spiralkutter i den?
Folding ruler are also the most basic tool in Germany. I heard that UK and USA aren't aware of this tool.
Hey boss what is that black material you are using? not the wood you painted, the other stuff? Cutting at 6:40
Jag bor i Malaysia och här har vi svarta bomullstops 😉
Bra videos 👍
Normal bandaids look awful with time because they become dirty. It is a great signal to change one.
Once you will have a bacterial infection you will throw away all these black bandaids 😊
Also, it is a great idea to practice using items in your new and shiny first aid kit. Even applying a tourniquet in normal conditions might be a tricky task to some, and imagine what will happen when you will be in stress situation
Yes - I actually tried it and it wouldnt be the easiest thing to do yourself. Hopefully I'll never get to use it :)
A chop saw?
The very first thing I made for my mancave was a wall mounted first aid cabinet. I made it during lockdown. Guess I had to make one really as my day job is as a medic/first aid instructor 😁
I prefer to use something like the LTX tape instead of regular bandaids. It's a tape that only sticks to itself and not to the skin, so it doesn't leave any annoying adhesive residues. The only downside is that from what I have seen it only comes in "skin" color or blue, black certainly looks a bit better!
Does your folding ruler have the brass extension? With that it is an excellent tool for inside measurements.
Hey Pierre, great video as always!
It might be worth keeping a small bottle/tube of super glue in your cabinet as well. It works great for sealing smaller cuts (like the size of a papercut), where you get a twinge of pain every time your skin moves.
I really wish I could get that PVC board (or whatever it is) here in the states. It would definitely come in handy for some projects I've had in mind recently.
Just bought some more today! Thanks for the tip :)
My father was a carpenter and he called that type of ruler a zig zag rule.
