    Sharpe is pretty damned smart: he mentioned earlier that the noise and sound of the rockets would wreck havoc on the morale of an undisciplined infantry force, and the first thing he does is has his Chosen Men aim for officers to lower morale and control.

      Sharpe is a season veteran of several battles and campaigns of many years, he probably knows about warfare and tactics than most of the British army officers as he has actually fought on the battlefield with the soldiers, giving him a better understand of soldiers, than most officers

    Generally speaking, a force that's 10 greater then your enemy would not have been stopped by 3 volleys of rifleman and 1 volley of rockets. Rocket don't have killing power, they are only used to confused and disorient, but wont rout a massive force outright.

    so wait, why was the second rank of french infantry holding their bayonets down? Wouldn't they likely stab the men in the front? Don't they normally hold their muskets with their shoulders?

    • @liamdillard2077
      @liamdillard2077 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was actually why they did it that way, it was in case the man in front of them stopped without orders they could stab the coward and continue the fight and moving the musket to the shoulder to fire wasn't a very hard task so when the soldier needed to fire they could do so.

    The book had a far more detailed battle sequence vs the French, using the actual convent buildings. The latter had mortars, unlike in the film. This makes it seem very one-sided, which it was not. Also, Ducos didn’t have replacement glasses to hand.

    There is a common misconception that a blindfold is given as an act of mercy to the condemned. Think about that a sec . If they were going to show The Condemned Mercy, they wouldn't shoot him. You're condemned to a firing squad nobody gives a shit how you feel at the very end. The blindfold is for the firing squad so they do not have to look at the condemned in the eye and also one of the rifles shoots a blank and no one knows who has the blank. So in this clip him refusing the blindfold only shows the misconception of the use of the blindfold.

    The way they killed Teresa felt cheap honestly. She could have shot Hakeswill before he even had the chance to pull the trigger. But to keep that nuisance alive they show let her die instead. He was a well portrayed villain in Sharpe's company but he should have died at Badajoz. Seeing more of him is tiresome.
