Their music evolved over the years, like another band recently featured on this channel. But you take their greatest hits, which you have heard, the few gems from earlier reactions ,plus what you have liked from the first album shows that a studio discography is necessary for the channel. Rock on Buddy!

It is a Beatles like song. They were a major influence on the group and I know Freddie, Brian and Roger were big fans. I love the twenty seconds of build up at the end at then suddenly cuts off. Thanks for your reactions!

It’s an irresistible thread to pull on watching them progress. Not only is each song an album in itself each album song choices is well crafted. For instance the last chord of this song leads into the next song and is a rebellion against it

I love this song .. gives me a definite Beatles vibe! ☮️ 🌻 There’s a nod to Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds by the Beatles with the lyric, “Lucy was high and so was I .. Dazzling, holding the world inside.” 💎⭐️✨

Great perspective on this. I agree alot of their early stuff had Beatles influence. I noticed the drum difference to when I first heard this. Such a legendary band.

Deacon is playing a stand-up double bass on this song. That's why it sounds different. 🙂🎶

Listening to this almost unknown for mankind pearl gives me a sensation of finding a never seen treasure. It mixes a lot of different feelings inside my mind like being high without the need of any drug to make this to me. It also transports me to the 1970 foggy efervescent musically innovative London with all those creative musicians going around with their incredible compositions, wishing to be known and applauded for their art. I wish I had lived there. That would be my very best desire.

Yup!! Loved this album the first time I listened to it back in the early 70s', (Why wouldn't I, It's great!) You must react to the next few albums and discover the style change which propels QUEEN to the forefront of "Stadium Rock" greatness! ☮

Norman Sheffield is famously skewered in two Queen songs. Trident management benefited a bit too much from Queen’s efforts. “Flick of the Wrist” &, most famously, “Death on Two Legs” dis songs calls him out.

Wow the sound is different! Many pluses but some minuses as well. The original seemed to be muddier and rockier. This so clear, the beginning up to the opening vocal is the most changed bit.

Trident dumbed down the drums, that was kind of their signature sound, you can hear it on Carley Simon's music from this same time period too, as she also was with Trident. Roger and the rest of Queen hated that sound but it was past time to get the album out so the original of this song and much on this first album is missing that signature Roger Taylor sound. Interesting lyric "Lucy was high and so was I" since Brian never did drugs, ever. He just made that decision and stuck with it.

Right when you said it, I was thinking yeah, you can really hear the Beatles influence here. The bass sounded flatter to me, it didn't have the resonance I usually hear from John. The drums also, at times they felt like they had no guts to them. But this was their first album, and it would be a while before they got the sound they were reaching for. It's such an exemplar of the 70s art rock kind of sound. It's so cool to see and hear their progression and development, though.

Go for it. It reminds me of most of the 70's bands I loved. The earlier stuff is better and as we crossed the 80's threshold I lost interest...

:) Well you're two for two on my most favorite bands. No complaints here. :) Add in Jethro Tull, Dire Straights, Pink Floyd, The Who, Kansas, Moody Blues and a half dozen other staples of the early to mid-70s and you've covered most of my rock listening from that era. You'd have to put in the whole classical/romantic/baroque repertoir along with the Soul music station to really get me all around, but then for fun my first year in college I had a Punk Rock loving roommate and he was also a jazz drummer so we pretty much agreed on Rush and many other things but also agreed we did not like REO Speedwagon. He's actually still a friend so there is that too.
While I have listened to some Beatles they were not a huge favorite of mine. Same with a few other very popular bands. Just did not work for me... Oh well... Life did go on. :)

It is also interesting that the band's writing credits (over the course of their whole career) are similar to the Beatles with a twist... Instead of most songs being "Mercury/May as in Lennon/McCarntey", most songs are Mercury *or* May (im oversimplifying, of course, but it's still a valid point...), plus usually at most 1 more song Taylor/Deacon (George/Ringo - again, oversimplifying, but still a generally valid point...). I don't have a punchline. Were you expecting a punchline? It's just an observation that I think needs to be said to this channel's community 😗

Can't believe the 2024 version just released (along with a crap snare and crap mix) has AUTO-TUNED Mercury's voice!.

@@user-xm3ll3pz5r i dont even remember this song… thats how impactful it was. Yes i like Queen. If it was more incredible it probably would have totally more or deeper words out of me. And sorry thats not to your liking.
