All art goes through an “ugly” stage! Thats why it’s so important to invest in the process over the product because if you push through the uncomfortable bits you end up with amazing artwork like THIS! It looks so beautiful ❤ I’ve made art with trash before but it never looked this awesome 😂
It was so good seeing your process, hearing your thoughts and the parts you struggled in. We all do this to ourselves. It was refreshing to see and totally looks AMAZING at the end. I love it! I want to do one now hehe
Hi Sarah, Merry Christmas to you, Shane and the rest of the your family 🎄 Thank you so much for so many great videos, love watching them all and looking forward to what creative chaos you get up to in 2024. Maybe for your next challenge like this you should collect little bits for a while, maybe things like leaves, crumbled paper, crumpled bin bags/plastic bags etc. This challenge reminds me of how my mum once used crumpled carrier bags to texture our living room walls as a child, it turned out really good too. I really appreciate how you show us so much of your progress and what you think of your pieces during the journey as it lets us know we’re not alone in having times when we’re not sure if we like what we’re creating, not sure what to do or even if its pretty. My mum used to always say all art has an ‘ugly’ stage or a stage where we question what the heck are we creating!😅 It’s always been a difficult thing for me to accept and get used to. So often we’re only shown the beautiful end product and so we doubt we can do anything as nice. My mum’s favourite words of wisdom are: ‘Never give up, never be so hard of yourself and to always see each piece of creativity as a chance to improve and practice’ - I’m slowly getting better at taking this approach, especially the not being so hard on myself! Anyway just wanted to let you know that I appreciate all the hard work and thought that you, Shane and the rest of your team put into everything. All the best for the next year Amy from Scotland 🏴💝
I came back to watch this video after watching today's yt livestream. I am impressed with your results, as always, but I am even more impressed with your willingness to risk making a fool of yourself in the name of personal growth. I too am on an art discovery journey, and I can't wait to see your upcoming deep dives in 2024. Thank you for caring, and please keep making content that feels authentic to you!❤
You truly bring a sense of wonder and delight in this video! Creating with trash, bringing beauty into throwaways! This is wonderfully creative and permission giving! Thanks Karen Dirmish, learner!
I love when you try different art challenges, I was wondering if you would try the endless picture trend? If you do decide to try then I would recommend the endless paper app. I love your videos. Keep up the good work.
I think this is gorgeous!!! The crazy background makes me think of big cities and the way they are spreading out into our forests while the mighty buck stands tall to protect his home land.. You set put o make an outstanding piece of art that invokes emotion, you succeeded because this piece makes me happy, makes me mad makes scared for the future of our wildlife and makes me hopeful that we will see what we need to do in time@ Thank you sarah!
Hi. I was yesterday years old when I discovered your channel, and I've watched 12 hours or more since then. All of the lovely trash you brought home will make beautiful gel prints. Especially the bubble wrap, netting, binder coils, and all the circles (the jar lid, the kids' sneaker, a bottle top, that drinking glass, etc.). Love the finished project and all of your content!
I'm amazed! I have never considered such creations as a real art but you, Sarah, and your approach, have changed my thinking. I'm happy I have broaden my horizones since I found you here on YT and started to be a part of your FB group (about 2 years ago). Greetings from Poland, Anna. 😊
I just want to say, I love the videos of your content that I've watched so far and I'll definitely be watching more! Your colouring videos have inspired me to pick up adult colouring for 2024 to manage my anxiety and hope this year will be better than my last 4 years full of struggle! I also love that you are based in Melbourne just like me and so I can find the supplies you have locally - will definitely save up money in working towards buying the more quality coloured pencils! Finally excited about something though still lacking in supplies and pretty much having no artistic talent, I am just going to take a leap of faith! Thank you for your wonderful videos and please keep up the good work! ❤
Fantastic stuff! I know exactly how it feels when a painting is in that ugly phase and all that self doubt creeps in. I just remind myself that some of my best work, I nearly threw away when I was half way through, but I trusted the process and came out the other side with better art and as a better artist. Well done, love what you you created. Merry Christmas from Adelaide, SA xx❤
Howdy and happy day!! Laughed at the look on Shane’s face with your haul! Trust the process 😄 I think anyone would be happy to have that piece hanging in their home. What a beautiful piece of rubbish art. The deer you drew looks great! And I’m super excited about the drawing series in future. Fun! Be well all, have a Merry holiday, and chipper cheerios!!
I have never related to another artist as much as I did with you while watching this! My confidence always drops so low during “the ugly phase” of my art and I have to keep reminding myself that there’s no mistake so bad that it can’t be fixed by taking a break, clearing my mind, and coming back with fresh eyes to try again. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and that 2024 brings you all the joy and success you deserve ❤
This was a neat process and I'm happy to see how marvelous it came out in the end. I think I could transform this concept into smaller card fronts especially as mixed media with cardmaking is a fun technique to try! Also, a canvas would be fun to do as a family project. Maybe there wouldn't be a detailed animal, but abstract shapes would be great to do. Thanks!
I think you were correct about the paint viscosity working against you while trying to use the found items for stamping the canvas, I believe some of them could have worked really well as stencils though :) . Be brave enough to make a mess & trust the process. Your willingness to think outside the box is really inspirational, that's one of the greatest gifts any creative person can give to the world, thank you!
I love that artist, Alex (from Quebec Canada). Im so happy to know that you see her work as inspirational. Thanks for trying it, it looks easy, but it isnt. I hope to possibly buy a piece of her's sometime
2:55 I love Shane’s expression as you show him your treasures😂! Don’t worry Shane, I’m certain she knows what she is doing 😅!! 14:50 Trust the process… AWESOME painting!!
I resubscribed after this video. I'm excited to see you challenge yourself as an artist and create some original work, rather than just coloring pre-drawn pages. I'm happy to give it another go for 2024, great work. 🦌🖌
6:33 if your hands are messy, you're doing it right! As someone who paints with weird objects for fun, I loved watching you explore all the marks you could create with the items you found! Sometimes it's difficult to use the object as a vehicle for the paint because objects don't hold paint like a brush. Sometimes you have to uses globs of paint and build layers. The secret is letting each layer dry before applying the next. Once you get into it, the repetitiveness is kind of relaxing and challenging at the same time. I think you did an awesome job! If you ever want to try painting with objects again, let me know. I think we could come up with a fun collaboration. I'm in the States, but I'm sure we could work something out.
❤❤❤Sarah Needs: 1. Acrylic Medium(s) = thin, thicker, and/or lengthen drying time. 2. Gesso: texture and body, as well as PRIMER (comes in clear too) 3. That's a loooose canvas, lol! {If you can't restretch or remove from frame, throw some cardboard in the back so your surface doesn't warp during application. } Love your channel! Long time sub. 1st comment . & I'm sure others have already said this. Sorry if it's a repeat. ❤❤❤❤
Also, IMHO your channel is superior (the "S" in tier ranking 😅) ! I appreciate how much and Shane (sp?) put into ALL the details production. I am always inspired by you guys. Even when Im not super 'into' a subject (I.e. I couldnt care less about Disney stuff, BUT your vids always EXPLORE MORE aspects and go FURTHER with whatever theme/idea was your jumping off point. Oh, and THANKYOU for all the hard work, time, and effort you guys put into your channel. I am sorry it took me this long to TYPE SOME APPRECIATION at you, rather than just THINKING a bunch of
Yes I liked all my comments, bc I shamelessly want other ppl to read all my typed appreciations, and start typing some more at you. It atleast think some of it at you 😂.
This looks great! I think the format of abstract background and then, realistic focal point and finally the abstract marks pulling it together could be a project I do with students.
Sarah, The experiment turned out fabulously! Believe me when I say, I know how you feel and can most definitely relate to those feelings if I’m trusting myself in the process of a painting project. It’s great and should be on the wall to remind you, “ That you more then capable and you can accomplish whatever you put your heart and soul into. Best wishes to you and your family in the New Year! ❤ Warm Regards, Martina
HI SARA, IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO TRY AND PAINT WITH MANY OBJECTS, EXPERIMENTING IS A GOOD WAY TO CREATE SOMETHING UNUSUAL. HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS WITH YOUR FAMILY, BYE FOR NOW, LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT VIDEO, MERRY CHRISTMAS, BYE MARIA
This is definitely unique way to do multimedia. There's a creator who made a sculpture out of chipboard packaging by blending it up and kinda paper-mache with it. I think thia is kinda fun. You get to experiment with things and let your creativity flow and the result is just pure fun and enjoyment knowing what you used to make it with. They do say one person's trash is another's treasure. You took that literally
Wow! I saw the same artist on Instagram and was similarly blown away. You have captured the style really well and created something stunning. I could totally see this as a print for sale in Spotlight or IKEA or something.
Your Deer is stunning! I wasn't sure you would pull it off at first but you most certainly did and it definitely has the "WOW factor! You can be very proud of yourself for using junk and turning it into a Masterpiece! Keep up the great Art!!!
Sarah! you get the gold star, not only from trash to museum quality, but for all your great reviews. Today I wanted to know about the Kalour 520 and the first reviewer person continually used terrible language. She was shameful. Then I saw another to compare a few wih the Kalour pencils. OMG if I ever needed to be bored to DEATH and have her whole descriptions in her worst most muddled and muffled voice. I gave up. You are my clearest, most enjoyable person to learn from. Keep it up, there’s so many art supplies and techniques that you will be very old and not too decrepit to happily do your incredible and family oriented videos. Thank you thank you!!!!!--Sheri W.
What a stunning job! Such a gorgeous deer, dear😊 But a wedding dress? Hmmm, I could do that with mine actually 😅 You really looked like you were having fun, Sarsh. I hope you do hang this .. it's beautiful! xxx😊
I really love how the drawing turned out, just when someone in the video asked you, how you always pulled your challenges off, I was literally asking myself the same thing. You're so talneted! I just wish you'd have left the wedding dress at the shop and not destroy it with paint. I feel like someone donated it because they loved it, wanted it to used to a second wedding and maybe help someone who couldn't afford an all new and expensive dress.
I'm looking forward to the video you mentioned about learning to draw. Especially the tutorials or classes that you used. Your sketch book looked really great makes me want to do something similar!
This is amazing! It turned out beautifully! Honestly, I think my favorite part was watching your feelings and confidence change throughout the process, then to see you be so happy with it at the end. I love watching your progress and hearing your thought processing
‘Trust the process…’ PREACH!!! 🙌 Every painting I ever do has that phase where I have to trust in the process, even if that phase is just the transfer of the template. 😅 When transferring sketches to a canvas, I’ve taken to printing my sketch out and then take a pencil to the back of it and transfer it. Not a perfect technique but trust the process.
This actually reminds me of a LEGO Friends scene before this reboot. Ethan and Emma were making art, and Ethan was making art out of trash! Anyway, this is AWESOME and I love your art sooo much!!! It's BRILLIANT!!!! ❤❤
OMG Sarah! Thank you soo much for the heart! I don't want to sound tooo over the top, but I can't even stress on how good your art is, and how you keep stepping out of your comfort zone! I could never step out of my comfort zone
I have to say that I think you are a brilliant artist! The painting is amazing and anyone would be proud to hang it. I don’t want to come over as patronising but well done for pushing through your doubts/fears and doing a fantastic job! Merry Christmas, deer!
I love this. I was worried when you started applying the white paint toward the end, but you stopped in time. Now you have a lovely, unique piece of art. Thank you for sharing your process from beginning to end. Happy Holidays to you and your family from ours here in Salem Oregon.
I really appreciate you sharing your challenges as you create your beautiful artwork!! ❤💖 The roses on the dress looked like it would have made a cool print, too! 🌹
aww there i always a point where that is called the ugly fase before it comes together dear one just has to keep going and it is just paint dear the great thing about acrylics is one can just paint over and restart. Love your painting dear 💖
The end result was fine, but I loved the abstract part :D I would probably stopped after finishing that part, because those coulours and textures, it was amazing! What shocked me the most, was actually, what was in the bin. To mmy eyes (and camera could make it less disgusting), those thing, they threw away were completely fine. I just couldn´t throw away the pillows in the bin like that, because they aare not selling or that have small hole in it... I know in stores there is a huge waste of food, but until now I couldn ´t imagine they will throw away stuff like that. Donating it to charity or something like that would be more resonable, than throwing that in bin... just some of my thoughts Anyway - very good idea on video, next time it would be awesome to paint with the trash or things you have at home and you can´t find use for them :D
This was really cool. Thanks so much. Could you maybe try to do a video sharing the reference books you plan to work from to improve your drawing skills this coming year? I’m really wanting to do the same thing but my disability limits my ability to take classes in person so I’m relying on self guided practice and learning using various books and you tube etc. I’d really love to see what books you are using and how you are going about your learning journey. Thanks so much Sarah 😊
Well I just woke up (French Canadian here !! HI !!!) and im already in a very lovely artistic chaos AND I LOOVED IT !!! Waking up siping my morning coffee with you makes me feel so happy already !! I love your virtual space ! I love being with you ! Great video again you made me giggling with you !
Really great job! I loved how Mosco approved of it. I know my cat always wants to "help" me with my projects.😺🎨 Keep doing a great job and Merry Christmas!🎄😁
That’s so funny, I just discovered Alex this week on TH-cam and her art is amazing! And so is yours! I love that deer so much! Please make a teacher calendar or a sketchbook next year and use the deer as cover! Or sell print! And definitely make more!!! Merry Christmas!🎄🎁
Absolutely loved this and if it wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg to ship it to you from the states; I’d be sending you my wedding dress that’s sitting in a box. I’m imagining all the creative ways you could use pearls and lace and paint?! 😅
Haven't watched any of you videos recently and when I saw this I really hated it at first. Using ao many clothes and even the picture frame which could be upcycled into something someone could use was a bit painful. But as you went on and got the hang of the process I did really love what you did and how you learned what was best to use. Did you know some artists even incorporate pieces of the trash into the canvas as 3d elements and I thought this was what you were going to do at some point. Maybe that is something you could try for next time. Good luck with your new years resolutions. Its always fun to go back to basics again.
Really loving the idea for this video! It really brings to life the chaos that we tend to associate with art.. plus it's a fun process! Next time you should let your children pick your supplies for your next art project hehe.. Happy Holiday!

Congrats
"trust the process" truer words have never been spoken in terms of anything creative. Well done with the deer it looks great
Trust yourself Sarah, not just the process. This is beautiful.
All art goes through an “ugly” stage! Thats why it’s so important to invest in the process over the product because if you push through the uncomfortable bits you end up with amazing artwork like THIS! It looks so beautiful ❤ I’ve made art with trash before but it never looked this awesome 😂
Please do a mixed-media artwork with the remnants of that wedding dress!
this is such a random idea! I love that the shop worker was so chilled about it all 😂
"Push through the horrible feelings, and keep going"
Sarah is my shoulder angel when I don't realize I need one.
It was so good seeing your process, hearing your thoughts and the parts you struggled in. We all do this to ourselves. It was refreshing to see and totally looks AMAZING at the end. I love it! I want to do one now hehe
Hi Sarah,
Merry Christmas to you, Shane and the rest of the your family 🎄
Thank you so much for so many great videos, love watching them all and looking forward to what creative chaos you get up to in 2024.

I don't usually comment, but the end result just absolutely blew me away. It looks STUNNING. I would love this on a tshirt.
Man it looks so good.
I came back to watch this video after watching today's yt livestream. I've never seen anything quite like this--what a cool project!

Excited to watch another one of Sarah’s great videos! 😊
I love love love this project! Seeing you work out of your element gives me courage to try something new with my own art. More of this, please!
Wow! I saw the same artist on Instagram and was similarly blown away. You have captured the style really well and created something stunning. I could totally see this as a print for sale in Spotlight or IKEA or something.
I love the painting. You are very inspiring how you push yourself out of your comfort zone and try new techniques and mediums. Thank you Sarah!💕❤️💕🇨🇦
I'd love to see a breakdown of which trash items worked the best for painting and which weren't so great.

I love the way this turned out! If you just looked at the finished painting, you would have no idea there was trash involved lol
This is amazing! It turned out beautifully! Honestly, I think my favorite part was watching your feelings and confidence change throughout the process, then to see you be so happy with it at the end. I love watching your progress and hearing your thought processing
Sarah, I love your deer 🦌 art work in the end! So cool! Great job! 🥰🤗💖
‘Trust the process…’ PREACH!!! 🙌 Every painting I ever do has that phase where I have to trust in the process, even if that phase is just the transfer of the template. 😅
When transferring sketches to a canvas, I’ve taken to printing my sketch out and then take a pencil to the back of it and transfer it. Not a perfect technique but trust the process.
Wow I love this! ❤❤❤
Hey ! I am also a lego friends fan
Love this thumbnail !! It made me giggle straight away! Thanks Sarah for the wonderful video! Enjoy them very much!
In Sarah I trust 😂😂 Shane u shouldn't ever doubt her!!
So very creative, keep teaching us Renee
Loved this sarah - Merry Christmas from australia xx
I have to say that I think you are a brilliant artist! The painting is amazing and anyone would be proud to hang it. I don’t want to come over as patronising but well done for pushing through your doubts/fears and doing a fantastic job! Merry Christmas, deer!
Thank you!
I didn’t have much success with the roses unfortunately!
@@SarahRenaeClark Bummer!! 🤗😍
I’m glad you trusted the process, and it turned out great. Happy holidays to you and your team ❤
It looks amazing!
This turned out amazing! I'm excited to see your art explorations in the new year! Merry Christmas to you, your family, and your team 😁🥰
Loved this !!!!
aww there i always a point where that is called the ugly fase before it comes together dear one just has to keep going and it is just paint dear the great thing about acrylics is one can just paint over and restart. Love your painting dear 💖
That was totally amazing. And it's gorgeous!
Donating it to charity or something like that would be more resonable, than throwing that in bin... just some of my thoughts
Anyway - very good idea on video, next time it would be awesome to paint with the trash or things you have at home and you can´t find use for them :D
Thank you for sharing this! I love your painting!!!
Yes I’ll be sharing all the books as a part of a video next year!
@@SarahRenaeClark awesome thank you
Well I just woke up (French Canadian here !!
Love this! You do amazing work.
So much fun!
Good job 👏🏻
I love your videos so much
That's great being creative is so good love the painting, well done and thanks you
It looks AMAZING, so great too watch, have a merry christmas!
Thank you! You too!
Really loving the idea for this video! It really brings to life the chaos that we tend to associate with art.. plus it's a fun process! Next time you should let your children pick your supplies for your next art project hehe.. Happy Holiday!
I wouldn't call thrift shop purchases "trash", but I LOVE how your final project turned out
well, she was referring to what she got out of their trash bin.
@@lisamiller8174 absolutely. I get that at least SOME of the items were actual trash.
Great project! And i think i learned a bit about creating art. :D
This was brilliant 👏 love it ❤
So so beautiful!
I luv abstract realism❤
I love it!❤
I love this video ! So much fun. Your art is amazing! Happy Holidays to you, your family and followers!
Same to you!

Love it, thanks for sharing.😍👏👏
Always an inspiration ❤❤❤❤
Loved this!
At last ..... justification for my keeping random old pieces of " tatt" ovet the years. I can make art with it. Thanks Sarahs Justification Fairy 😂
