New to the channel, nice video. Any tips to get started on manual engine controls? I understand the basics of supercharger gears, pitch, mixture and radiator controls, but had never seen that HUD with the thrust and other data before.
Welcome, thanks! There are tutorials on how to set up MEC on TH-cam. My advice is to leave what you can auto in the beginning except radiators. Radiators are straightforward, and provide the most of the performance difference when compared to automatic. Simply close the radiators to go faster (running away/chasing someone), and open them to cool down the engine. Often supercharger is automatically manual when you switch MEC on, so you need to learn both at the same time. Use the same key for radiator and oil radiator, they go together well enough.
You know, I don’t think that you have ever made a vid on the F84 (both variants). Could you make a video on either please? I love the way I can just rush in, hit low alt aircraft, and then rush away at super high speeds lol.
Surprisingly enough it’s really a shadow of its former dominance for a multitude of reasons but it still manages to be a great airplane. It used to climb like a mk 22 till it hit 4K, it’s engine overheats real quick and is incredibly fragile, it locks up at high speeds and rips more easily now, you used to be able to deploy combat flaps at 300mph (~500kph) and consequently turn like a God. Now it rips at about 240mph. Used to be so nice for surprising the hell out of bearcats by turning on a dime. On the bright side however it’s still just as fast and dives like a motherfucker. Truly a magnificent airplane still!

Is that the reason why you don't zoom or is it just a habit you never got into?

I do not get how you do it. You handled those high-energy bf109s so well in your spitfire Mk. IX LF video, I still don't get how you do it. 10/10 great job.
F4U-4B now. It's similar to the Tempest Mk V, except it's a bit better in nearly every aspect (climb, speed, turn, roll), except in MER and it has limited WEP. Tempest Mk V was my favorite before because the F4U-4B didn't exist, and it was a bit better back when I first flew it (flaps ripped at 480 instead of 400, barely any control stiffening and back then the German planes had a lot of stiffening, memeing Germany aircraft was fun).
hey Adam, can you take out the Seafire FR 47? i'm having a hard time using the propeller pitch on that plane, idk what's the best propeller pitch positions to make use of all my engines power while/not using WEP
Hi adam , how do you get your enemies spotted ? Maxed out crew ? I cant see my enemies sometimes 500m away from me their marker will literally disapear
If this thing has control stiffening worse than Tempest V, Gaijin should read this: Rates of Roll 51. During the trials carried out, the Tempest II proved definitely superior to the Tempest V at speeds up to 500 m.p.h. I.A.S. As the two aircraft have the same airframe there appears to be no aerodynamic reason for why the Tempest II should be better. It is therefore assumed that the ailerons on Tempest II MW.754 are above the average, and may not be truly representative of a production aircraft. This means the Tempest II should be equal to Tempest V in controllability.

Alternatively for an easy solution, check out "Void Mei" on the WT forums which overlays a part of the local host information over WT.
I'm talking about in WT always, and in WT 109s have a smaller turn radius. I doubt the Tempest had a smaller turn radius than the 109 in real life though.
Adam514 the British tend to use the word “radius of turn” when they mean “rate of turn”. And the Americans as well. The Tempest has a lower wing loading than the Bf 109 but I don’t know the critical angle of attack. The Tempest stalls at 90 mph I.A.S. according to a USAAF testing although there’s no indication of whether that is power-on or power-off. Bf 109 E stalls at 152 kph I.A.S. according to Il-2 Sturmovik, and Bf 109 G-2 at 158 kph, and Bf 109 G-4 at 165 kph. Maybe the Bf 109 turns better at low speed, but the Tempest’s much lower wing loading can certainly give better sustained turn, and its high-speed control means it turns better at high speed.

Question: as-tu essayé le vb 10-02?
Hello Adam. I love your videos and all, but I'm always afraid to ask... what's actually 'MER''?
Thanks! No need to be afraid to ask!
It's Maneuvering Energy Retention. Essentially it's a measure of how much energy (speed) an aircraft loses when turning. Different aircraft will lose speed at different rates depending on their power, weight, wing, geometry, etc. I did some tests and made a video explaining it if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/wLA8cspXbbE/w-d-xo.html
This was the first plane I reached almost 900 kmh. I was mad ecstatic and is still my best performing British plane
TAS?
Adam514 I don’t remember to be honest with you, I remember it was on that map that only the British and Americans fought on and was from 6500 meters
This and the la9 are my fav planes in game. Absolute joy to fly them
Yeah I warmed up to the La9. Received a buff a few months ago too.
Once again, another great video! You should try some of the captured planes (unless you don’t like spending money ;)
Thanks man!
Ye I have, I did the German Tempest Mk V which was costly for example.
Gotcha. I’ll have to check that out!
"Rare Max Uptier"
Uh what do you mean?
@@AdamTheEnginerd Uhh, i mean that max uptiers are far from rare and seem to be the norm, 80%+ of the time!

I probably won't any time soon.

I do not get how you do it. You handled those high-energy bf109s so well in your spitfire Mk. IX LF video, I still don't get how you do it. 10/10 great job.

It's seems like Tempest early model about Playing style!(Tempest mk5)
Thank you for review about tempest mk2!
Hmm this is a lot more running since it can't turn as well as Tempest Mk V.
@@AdamTheEnginerd oh.....
Hey Adam, are we going to get a p-61 video? My friends and I were in a game with you and you were flying one
Meh, I already did a P61 video. We'll see.
3:20 being in past tense kind of begs the question, what is your current favorite and why has the tempest V lost that spot?
It's on my list!
Prop pitch = THR for most planes.
Awesome stuff dude💯
Thanks dude!
Hi adam , how do you get your enemies spotted ? Maxed out crew ? I cant see my enemies sometimes 500m away from me their marker will literally disapear
I have essentially maxed crew, but that happens to me sometimes too. In clouds especially.
was about to say "you see, bombers can be useful to distract the enemy" but then the B29 dies instantly... my dude you're not helping your case
Haha indeed, and a B29 attempted to carrier land instead of distracting the enemy too.
still waiting for the mk.24

Can you take a look at the Sabre F25/30/35 and the F40 please?
Thanks!

Adam is overpowered 💪
Haha thanks.
I always wanted a video like this, damn the MK 2 is sexy AF!
Glad to have delivered!
Wait a minute, what kind of Tempest is this?
The only Tempest that I know is the upgraded version of the Typhoon which is the Tempest Mk.V
It's right after the Tempest Mk V, 6.0 BR.
Who's that mad lad in the stock I-225? Handsome devil. Not as handsome as that Tempest, unfortunately.
Falling to greedy R2Y2 hands.
He got what was coming to him, not much I could've done anyways.
Nice bait though.
Instantly liked this video when I looked at the descriptions
Which part of the description earned your like?
The mention of the infamous general who leads the 9 year-old army against the big bad T-series
Ohh hello fellow 9 year old.
Hi adam love ur stuff and would like to humbly request a video of you flying the p51H

@@AdamTheEnginerd haha idk man it just seems fast cause it looks like ur multitasking pretty well.
Always multitasking ;).
@@AdamTheEnginerd kewl ÷)
If this thing has control stiffening worse than Tempest V, Gaijin should read this:
Rates of Roll
That's in roll. In roll they seem similar. I'm talking about pitch.
Great video full of drama love it👌
Hahaha good rewatch!
Finally tempest 2 ! Thanks
Kikka and r2y2 are overpowered at 6.0~7.0 so it was so closed fight.
I feel hispanos became stronger recently.
My pleasure!
Yeah I've had that same feeling, but I changed convergence to 500m at the same time so I can't say for sure.
Can i Ask ... How can you add that Chart over there on the Top left side ?

It's called the "local host".
How to access the "local host":
You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!
Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT:
-Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila.
Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
What I do is I record the local host on my laptop next to me at the same time as the gameplay and combine them during editing.
I am curious.. what's recording software are you using?

I've got a question: what do the terms "MER" and "spaded" mean?
Maneuvering Energy Retention. Essentially it's a measure of how much energy (speed) an aircraft loses when maneuvering. Different aircraft will lose speed at different rates depending on their power, weight, wing, geometry, etc. I did some tests and made a video explaining it if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/wLA8cspXbbE/w-d-xo.html
Spaded means that all the modifications were researched on the aircraft.
What game mode was this? I want to try game modes other than arcade.
Realistic Battle.
Ah I see there was a F4WRD shitter in your game. Must have been tough to deal with his insanity
I suppose not all of them are bad.

They play fairly differently.
@@AdamTheEnginerd At least it's against jets

Always!
oh there's that plane too
Which?
Holy crap this plane barely looses speed at 700+kph while slightly in a climb
Yup energy retention is good.
Second fastest? What's the first one?
Great vid btw
P51H (approximately 10km/h difference at sea level).
Thanks!
Nice play, bro could you make someone whit the French Yak-3 ✌🏻

Probably not since it's a premium that I don't have.
To be fair with a correct flight model the hr 162 would be a decent 7.0 jet. But since its gaijin were talking about, it wont happen.
Lots of people have different references and definition of "correct". As always my opinion is what is presented in WT at that moment.
@@AdamTheEnginerd well the company certainly has its right to do what they want, its their game after all. But i dont get why, according to them, the test flight results of the he 162 are too unreliable, but at the same time they added the i-185, of which there is little to no confirmed data about its flight characteristics. Its things like these that spark the fire of russian bias.
Pretty sure with that performance he would have unlocked the Vampire lol

Are you sure about that?
F-82E goes 666 kph on deck and way faster on optimal altitude.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it has infinite WEP.
Tempest Mk II does 670 on the deck. Also F82 has less than 15 minutes of WEP.
@@AdamTheEnginerd With or without manual engine control?
Oh, didn't know that it was limited.
With MEC.
@@AdamTheEnginerd F-82E does (or, should I say, at least did) 666 without MEC. And hey, it is a 5.0=)
Since you are saying it's WEP is limited, your point, of course, still stands.
My top speed spreadsheet has top speed on the deck with MEC for props, f82 is indeed in the 660s.
How useless really are bombers, doesn’t gunshipping work?
Negligible usefulness compared to fighters.
Now play it against props :)
People are never satisfied.

@@AdamTheEnginerd Thanks, i follow those steps and all the things appeard in the page, but there is any way to display it on the game while i'm playing like in your videos?
What I do is I have it open on my laptop next to me and record it at the same time as the gameplay, and combine them during editing.
There is a way to overlay it, but I've never done it. It requires playing WT in windowed mode, and using a program to overlay part of your browser over the game. Alternatively for an easy solution, check out "Void Mei" on the WT forums which overlays a part of the local host information over WT.
British also claim the P-47 rolls same below 300 mph I.A.S. and this thing rolls better above that speed
I don't complain about the roll.

Lol mine is stock, don't worry about that.
Adam514 half the video done then...
Wait... if yours is stock... then you hate the plane you almost never played it (pikachu surprise face)
Hey Adam! What do you think was being tested for this April fools joke in War Thunder?
People have been saying VTOL, apart from that I don't know.
How can a Tempest have poor turn rate if it out-turns a Bf 109 G as the British report claims
