If there’s one nice thing you can say about this move, it’s that Leslie Nielsen was the best choice to play Mr. Magoo. Yes it’s a horrible screenplay but Leslie Nielsen can make even the worst screenplay a little better. Not a lot, but a little.
The line the wedding “It wouldn’t last-I’ve never loved you!” Actually made me laugh. Admittedly I didn’t have to sit through the whole movie to get there, but I did think that was funny.
6:18 Actually Mr. Magoo does preformed in the cartoons. Especially in the TV specials. The great example would be his acting of Scrooge in the Christmas Carol special. and the best part was that Mr. Magoo is very good at being Scrooge.
I actually love this movie. It's a way better Inspector Gadget movie than the Inspector Gadget movie. Think about it, The Main Character bumbles into something way over his head, while the crime is taken care of behind the scenes, or indirectly by the Main Character.
I grew up with the Christmas Carol version so I just assumed he was clumsy. During the show he doesn’t have sight problems. It makes sense why he’d touch the Ghost of Christmas Future’s robe though
Wow.. after seeing this review, I think I finally get Nostalgia Critic. Fun fact: Back in 1993, Steven Spielberg was trying to get the rights to many cartoons to adapt into live action. (Including The Flintstones and Casper.) But he also attempted to get the rights to Inspector Gadget and Mr. Magoo before Disney got a hold of them around 1995/1996. And he apparently wanted Danny DeVito for the title role. Shame we're not in that timeline. 😞

What I can't believe is the movie was directed by Stanley Tong who directed Jackie Chan movies... like some of the really good ones: Supercop, First Strike, Rumble in the Bronx
"I guess Disney finds it funny when women are hurt" Why wouldn't it be? You think just because they're women they're immune to slapstick? That only furthers the 'women can't be funny' stereotype.
Nate Well, I don't mean seriously hurt, more like a prat fall or 'harmless' physical comedy, nothing that would lead to serious injury. I can't be the only one that heard the NC's Skype go off at the 11:38 mark, am I...? I mean you hear it loudly slightly under his voice, it's hard to miss.
I think the comedy of Mr. Magoo comes from the situations he’s in. In his perspective, you don’t know what’s gonna happen, and yet the bad things you think are gonna happen, don’t. The joke is that usually someone blind would get hurt in these wacky situations. (No offence to blind people)
