A friend of mine played as supporting act for Deep Purple here in Argentina many many years ago. He had the chance to visit DP room after the show. My friend is keyboard player and the biggest fan of JL I have ever met. During his moment at the room, he served drinks and attend the band , at some moment Jon said to my friend - in a very kind way- , "please stop serving us, we can do it ourselves". My friend respond as a fan, saying "you are my maestro, I play music because of you," and treated him like a god. Jon response was; "nah, we are mates, the only difference is I started playing before you" . A true clever, humble gentleman
Jon Lord was such a gentleman. Aside from seeing one of the latter appearances of Deep Purple, I had the privilege of seeing Jon Lord play one evening at my local pub, The Crooked Billet, near Henley-on-Thames, in an evening with novelist and playwright, John Mortimer. I also used to see Jon Lord around the area, even standing right behind him one day in a queue at Henley Waitrose. As much as I would liked to have introduced myself, I figured that he was entitled to some privacy whilst grocery shopping!
I’ve played with many Hammond players/pianists, and most of them were wonderful, but nobody sounds like Jon Lord. His sound still brings me back to 1972.
I'm a keyboardist - classically trained. Jon taught me that one need not choose between rock or classical, that one can do both and do both very well. I have followed his career since 1966 (yes, I listened to some of the Artwoods). Listening to his brilliant orchestral compositions, to his amazing work in rock, his amazing solos, he is the epitome of what constitutes an outstanding, superb musician. To say he is a hero to me is a gross understatement. He has had the most substantial impact on me, one that is immeasurable. His passing was a gut punch, one I am still not over 12 years later. He is sorely missed.
My dad had tickets for him and me to see Sabbath's 1983 Born Again show in Vancouver with Ian on vocals but Geezer got bronchitis and they cancelled it. I never did get to see Sabbath play live, the tour picked up a week or so later and my dad took his girlfriend to Vegas for a week just to see them, they were his all-time favourite band, I had school so had to stay in Vancouver. The opening act for the Born Again show was Quiet Riot, I saw them live in 1984 with Whitesnake and Kickaxe, I lost my virginity that night. I started taking drum lessons in 1983 and when Piece Of Mind dropped I was an instant fan of Nicko, I played along to that album too many times to count. I started out trying to learn guitar and listening to a lot of Tony Iommi and Eddie Van Halen but I really sucked bad, drums were so much easier for me.
The love and the camaraderie between these guys is really something to behold after all the years of Performing and going through the ups and downs of life it's wonderful to see them together like this. RIP Jon Lord
Who else thinks John Paul Jones would have made a great addition here , then it would have been Sabbath, Zep,Purple and Maiden, hard to beat a combination like that!!
Of course, nobody could ever replace Jon Lord in Deep Purple, but somwhow I've always thought that Tony would be the only fitting guitarist to replace Richie. Same goes for Nicko and Ian Paice.

John Lord influenced me so much that I started playing the piano at the age of 37

Seeing them meet in the mixing room like that, the genuine happiness and how they were excited to see eachother again. All of them, legends, the best!
Living history of rock music in just one room.
That video in the not that distant future will be played in music schools all over the world as an example of what music is about.
Come on.... wish to be seatted on the corner of the room, in silence, just watching this guys. Would be the time of my life.
You’re not stupid
Man.. Seen Jon Lord & Tony Iommi together was like Two great worlds gathering!!! It's great to see that! RIP Jon †
Absolutely! Two gentlemen, the "high society" of hard'n'heavy rock.
Hi, how do you get the cross you've put on there ? My keyboard doesn't have that?
Jon Lord. Always remembered as one of the true greats.
Centuries of legends gathered in the same control room!
And spirit of Ritchie too... so sad he didnt play
This is fucking awesome! Ian still sounds just like he did on Perfect Strangers and before, phenomenal!
Great! But this is 12 years ago at least
That’s a great album I remember having the tape I was like oh shit this tape kicks ass from deep purple band .
RIP Jon, way too young, one of the greatest!!!!!!
Rip Jon Douglas Lord, the greatest of all time.
Ian Gillan, he is unique, no one could and can replace him. The singer is who make a band recognisable and loved.
Legends. Absolute legends with hearts of gold all for the love of music. How wonderful when they did this.
Damm, some of rocks icons in one room. They all had such an impact on our lives - since the late 60s till now still.
So good too see Mr Lord. Such a gentle and wholesome man, bless his soul. Maestro

Historia de la música
Repose en paix Jon .
Imagine that.... Ian was the connection between Tony and Jon, since only Ian has collaborated with both Tony and Jon.
DEEP SABATH ❤❤❤
Lord of the Keys
Составчик классный.
♥️🤘🔥🥁

GODS.....
🥰
The mix is awesome. Blackmore's guitar is faded in the most cases.
Какая связь между людьми... Самое сложное препятствие это найти свободное время для встречи
Светлая память Лорду

Que cuarteto LPM los Iconos del Heavy 💪🤘🇺🇾
Shame Jason wasn't there.
What's the meaning of Jon Lord in this kind of music???? :-)
Ian’s voice sounds like Joe Walsh here
What's the point of Re-Posting when it's already on UTUBE..

To get more people the chance to check out something actually worth the time spent.

Purple Black Maiden, the supergroup of all time.
