    Lots of folks wondering about how to do the 6 button mapping correctly. I messed around with it and got it to work perfectly. Start a Genesis game (I chose Mortal Kombat 2 to be able to easily test the controls with)- bring up the retroarch menu, scroll down to controls, and then for User 1 I selected "MD 6 button" (I'm using the 8bitdo M30 and the official 6 button wireless for player 2), then scroll down and map the buttons accordingly: (Follow the same for player 2 and on if using more than 1 6-button controller)
    B will need to be changed to A
    A changed to X
    C changed to B
    Y stays at Y
    X changed to Z
    Z changed to C
    ***Be sure to "Save Core Remap File" to save this
    Have fun!

    I just wanted to clarify some questions I initially had but was unable to find answers to. I purchased the Bluetooth adapter patton suggested in the links. I WAS successful in pairing a PS4 controller but was NOT successful in pairing a Xbox One controller. Once I had the controller paired I closed hakchi and unplugged everything from my PC and hooked the mini up by itself with nothing but the tv, Bluetooth adapter and a jump drive plugged in. After turning the mini back on and turning the PS4 controller back on it remained paired and works great.

    I need to know how to remap or configure buttons on the 8bitdo SN30 Pro to the SNES Classic for N64 games. Do any of your videos cover that? Thanks, Patton. I don't have an adapter.

    So I tried the Retro-Bit Bluetooth six-buttons controller (officially licensed by Sega). Officially, it supports a discrete number of devices (Android, Amazon, PC, Mac, vanilla Genesis, etc. but not the Genesis Mini) using different modes when pairing. The only mode where anything but the D-Pad works is Mac (holding X+Home to pair), and then the button mapping is wrong. I'm very surprised that your controller has the mapping right the first time.
    Does anyone know how to do button mapping with BlueZ (the linux Bluetooth stack)? The documentation is very scarce but if I figure out how to do this on a plain linux box it might be doable on this too (even without a bash shell).
    Thanks for the tutorial btw.

    Hey Patton, thanks for the great videos, I just decided to hack my Genesis Mini, and your guides helped me more than others. Just a quick question, did you tweak your RA settings in order to play N64 games smoothly? I'm struggling with SNES games :( and even with the overclock mod, the games still struggle (mostly sounds, sometimes stuttering) with the defaul hakchi's RA settings. Could it be my USB flash drive?

    • @PattonPlays

      It really user preference. If you like having all of them on there for convenience then go for it. If you only want a catalog of games you feel you will play, then go that route.

    Hello Patton, I'm having trouble trying to setup my M30 bluetooth controller to my genesis mini. I am using a TP Link 5.0 bluetooth adapter. I have it plugged into the console that is hooked up to the computer. Bluez has been downloaded and detects the adapter. When I try to turn on the controller and press the sync button it is not detected. I know the controller works as it connected to my PC. I am not using retroarch on my mini, just hakchi. I have tried to start the controller up as windows, android, switch, and macOS. I am on a Windows 11 PC. I am not sure if it is because I bought a 5.0 adapter and should have purchased the 4.0 you had linked in the video. If anyone knows how to fix, please let me know!

    • @spencerenderle7978
      @spencerenderle7978 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Answered my own question. 4.0 works, but not 5.0. I only had to remap one controller's dpad. Make sure to boot up the controller as a Windows device, and it syncs the right way.

    Patton, is Hackchi backwards compatible? What I mean is - Can I use an older version of hackchi to restore snes to original state? I was using 3.x, now using 2.x (have to use a win xp machine right now). Can I restore my snes with hackchi 2.x if that snes has a 3.x custom kernel? Or will I brick it? Thanks!

    how much space do save's take up? I am trying to figure out how much memory I should take up with games, and leave for saves on my genesis hack (no USB). any help would be appreciated

    • @brokensprites
      @brokensprites 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For older cartridge based systems, saves usually only take up a couple kb and even save states are around that as well. The snes classic save states were bigger because they incorporated a gimmicky rewind with each save. I think it was like 5mb or so. I can't imagine the m2 save states being anything higher than 1mb.... if that.
      The mini consoles come ready to fully use every in game save and save state without bogging the system down. If you left 20 to 30mb free, you'll be fine.
