Nah Awi some times it’s better to part ways. Look at the state of Somalia right now, your country was artificially created by western powers, and it’s caused a lot of issues quite obviously, it’s made a country with a highly divided population that’s easy for us to continue to exploit (which I am against that exploitation but I am just one man who is very knowledgeable about my country’s actions) if Somalia had formed together under more natural circumstances (not necessarily ethnic lines or anything) then this issue wouldn’t exist, but because the west forced a bunch of people to live together who don’t want to live together, you get what we see today.
Thank you for covering the story. I am Somalilander and I as well as many Somalilanders do understand what is at stake? Because of the volatility of the region as a whole Somaliland tries to keep peace through dialogue. Somaliland would have been even more perfect had it had recognition. Its a hurdle that hampers its ability to help provide its people what they need to support a better economic opportunities and hope for better life. Also, the need to defend would have decreased and thus ability to be less concerned to threats to its people and their aspirations.
When I saw the title hitting the play icon was the next thing I have done, coz I am always very enthusiastic about to hear what a third party says from my limbo country(somaliland), absolutely I enjoyed this master piece especially the way you have narrated both sides of the story. You reminded us that it is ok “ not to be perfect” in order to be statehood. Iam glad you have mentioned the inadequacies somaliland is dealing with, and answering those questions will help us to add this country to the map. Thank you sir!
This was a great way to remind us all. That the greatest experiment is still struggling to become the more-perfect union we all deserve. Love your work!
It's actually insane how we are acknowledging territories by gut feeling. The definition of a state is crystal clear: the land belongs to the entity who can enforce their laws in a given region. Is taiwan part of china? - >Who takes taxes from that land? Is somaliland part of Somalia? -> Can somalia enforce their laws in said territory?
well Somalia can't enforce any law in Somaliland but they try by writing complains to UN, African union, and Arab union, and they fail LAMO. Also, NO one in the southern government including so called president can come to any somaliland territory leave alone collecting taxes.
@@mayasmayas1689 LAMO are you serious? Somaliland president was in tukaraq itself so buhudle isn't even a conern. Also you can't compare president Muse who his guard is from Somaliland and can control everywhere to xaarmajo who is guarded by AMISOM in 2 km

I am Citizen of Somaliland and I know my Government needs to do way better job for it’s Citizen..#JSL Thanks Rare Earth for doing this from inside Somaliland
When it comes to recognizing a nation, I don't really feel the need to look at what they did in the past. If atrocities make one ineligible, then we couldn't recognize Germany or Russia or Turkey or China or Japan or nearly any other country. Most have done terrible things to become what they are now. That's not what matters. Remember the past and learn from it, but look forward, move forward. Every nation that wants to break away from a larger entity should have that option. Most people in Quebec would rather stay in Canada, and they prove this every time. If they voted to leave, then I'd be willing to let them. But they haven't, and so they shouldn't force that on the majority who don't want to leave. Catalonia is not Quebec. Artsakh is not Quebec. Somaliland is not Quebec. And the same goes for so many others, ones that most people have never heard of. When the people want to be free, they should be. When the people don't want to be free, they should at least have that choice.

i refuse to grant the right to kill to my government. i reserve the right of self defense, but there can be no right to kill by a state. states dont have any rights, aside from existing if the people want it. rights are inherent in sentient beings, nothing else. not companies, not states, not ideas. a death sentence is always a failure of imagination, a failure of will, a failure of conscience, that we cannot restrain ourselves from enacting vengeance on those we hate. Powerful stuff. I was born in the GDR and if Germany can overcome the consequences of its history while superpowers actually caring about it, then I hope it is also possible for the forgotten Somali people, whichever state they live in, to find the freedom to make their own choices and live in peace.
Somaliland and somalia could never reconcile, somalia is terror hot bed. They prefer corruption and lawlessness over governess.

Wonderful! The best video I’ve seen about Somaliland so far. The last part was beautiful.
This is what I always hope to find in my youtube feed - powerful documentary work.
Conversations around independent statehood are often swept under the rug for fear of raising ruckus.
Great respect for your work and the stories you share. Thank you.

Wow powerful video. Ethiopia stand with Somaliland and know soon enough we will recognise the fact that you're independent.

You reminded us that it is ok “ not to be perfect” in order to be statehood.
Iam glad you have mentioned the inadequacies somaliland is dealing with, and answering those questions will help us to add this country to the map.

@@zibongo6720 Yes it does
It's actually insane how we are acknowledging territories by gut feeling.

3. Only country there was no bloodshed or argument when two presidential candidates separated ONLY 80 VOTES unlike what happened the presidential election in America between Al Gore and Bush. Rare Earth-Thanks for your documentary and facts about our country keen on recognition of the world. Keep going!
What an accurate and fair coverage of my country! Thank you!

i refuse to grant the right to kill to my government. i reserve the right of self defense, but there can be no right to kill by a state. states dont have any rights, aside from existing if the people want it. rights are inherent in sentient beings, nothing else. not companies, not states, not ideas. a death sentence is always a failure of imagination, a failure of will, a failure of conscience, that we cannot restrain ourselves from enacting vengeance on those we hate. "vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord". could that be true?
