Poi una sera, Mr. Gold le fa visita e getta un'ombra di mistero su Emma Swan. Regina decide di fare della ricerca. Regina Va in camera di Emma e trova una lettera con uno strano cigno nero disegnato. Poi scorge uno strano corridoio con una parete. In basso sul pavimento dei segui le fanno capire che è più di una semplice parete. Muove l'unica cosa possibile: una delle luci e la porta si apre. Dietro una stanza con armi, libri e ancora armi. Torna a casa, Emma continua a guardarla come persa, risponde a monosillabi alle sue domande, ma quando Regina la vede così rotta e triste decide di aspettare a chiedere spiegazioni. Intanto al laboratorio di ricerca Cora Mills, si lavora allo sviluppo di cellule rigenerative. La formula ha avuto successo e una strana società chiamata "Philia" vuole acquistare il farmaco. Ma la richiesta viene rigettata. Nessuno sa che una risposta negativa comporta una tecnica di persuasione su Cora Mills più efficace dei soldi. La vita dei suoi cari. Emma è con Henry, lui è preoccupato per lei perchè la sente distante. Le mancano le loro escursioni al castello e le frittelle per colazione dalla nonna. Emma cerca di rassicurarlo, quando uno sparo fende l'aria e un istante dopo Henry cade a terra davanti a lei. Il ragazzo respira ancora, ma è grave. L'ambulanza arriva a suono spiegato in ospedale dove dottori e infermieri sono pronti a prendersi cura di lui. La situazione è critica. Emma corre a cercare Regina e arriva appena in tempo per salvarla dalle fiamme nel suo ufficio. Regina vuole delle spiegazioni e non ha più intenzione di essere paziente perchè suo figlio sta lottando tra la vita e la morte. Emma decide di dirle la vertità.
