Yes, it was allowed in 2009 - as you can see and hear. Her both stunning entries in 2011 ("Nótt") and 2013 ("Þú") has Yohannas sung in her native language Icelandic - because of the rules of RÚV at this time. In my opinion a godsend, because the Icelandic language sounds uniquely beautiful ... :o)
David Miiro Bresson well they always preform in icelandic first but in the last episode of söngvakeppninni you can choose in what language you'll preform
I know Fairy Tale won ESC 2009 with big lead but for me this should have won and I can’t help listening it even after 11 years, always in my mind
Exactly what I thought back then (as I do today). This was the winner.
What a cracking voice❤
Who would have told her at that moment, that this was going to turn out as the best Eurovision song EVER !!!
I love this song❤❤❤❤❤

Still my favorite. With love from Russia! I had been admiring Iceland on ESC before “Fire Saga” :)

Maravillosa, hizo historia en Eurovisión. Mi ganadora con diferencia.
Great song!!! 😘😘😘
When people tell me that their favourite Eurovision song is Fairytale, I tell them it's not even my favourite of its year's contest.
Win unjustly taken away

This song is in my favorite until internet die, even then i'll sing it.
Best Icelandic entry to date. Not hard though.
Ah oui la célèbre queen godness
This was my winner that year. I thought Reykjavik 2010, but it wasn't to be. Islande, douze points.
Should have been a nailed-on winner
Singing the same sing at each stage of a contest can kill you
I like this ending way better... Too bad they did not keep it in the final version.
This arrangement is best though the sound could had been better.
Agreed, this do not do well enough.
Was it allowed to perform in English in 2009 in the Icelandic Final?

It`s a shame she didn`t won Grand Prix, Rybaks voice was and is still awful :(
