This was a great summary of the important changes! Even though I read through them myself it was nice to have someone more knowledgeable point out the most important changes.
@@TulpaPlays I actually completely missed the spellslinger headshots when I wrote this since it was at 3 in the morning for me and I was a bit out of it. I think it could kinda work but would be more of a personal preference pick Soul snatcher is obviously gonna be really good, but arcane surge is gonna be big-good since stamina is good for chase and getting in close with Abrams and the bonuses are real good with his kit. Extra range and duration could help keep people in the leech aura to secure kills and stay alive, duration is really good for the pin so you can land the pin-heavy combo, and the ult range and duration helps make sure people can't escape when you come in from the side lane with a steel chair
I love the new soul shredder upgrade and dash since i often built both my geist builds, it's helped a ton with her mid game scaling! No longer do I need a early reach buy.
I feel like arcane surge was a move because valve saw mostly spirit focused builds taking kinetic dash. It's a high mobility item that saves stamina for you. Now it upgrades into something that takes up a spirit slot but provides more. Plus with this, you'll have bulllet builds taking it more often. Since they want kinetic dash early and might sell it later when they get to the point they need other items. I don't like it though. High range/radius builds were already an issue and they're just bringing it back.
arcane surge gives a bigger damage increase to (for example) a mo ult than any other single item regardless of price. for builds who use a couple purple slots to increase damage then get real tanky, surge+torment pulse is roughly equal if not slightly more damage than boundless spirit AND escalating exposure. for about 10k fewer souls. what?? (theres some weird variance in measuring mo ult damage for some reason lol. even if u have no items it is inconsistent, seems like every other even numbered ult does like 8-10% more damage)
Removing ranked is kinda bad, all the sweats will now tryhard on casual. It was fun to play more experimentaly/trying new things on casual bc no one was tryharding that much
Yeah, i don't know what Valve was thinking with this decision. I was mainly playing ranked, because i enjoyed the competitiveness and people were more likely to be using comms. I also liked casual play, because it was a good less stressful mode to practice characters im not as good with.
Yeah like some people I'm not a fan of some of the changes to ranked. I do think the separate rankings for characters is a good idea. If you're best character is Pocket, and you're a Phantom rank with them, but you draw Vindicta, and you're Archon with her, but playing bad with her doesn't effect your rank with your main, that's good. However, merging casual and ranked is HORRIBLE idea. So horrible that i feel the need ti emphasize it. Now the people who don't care about rank will be in ranked games, and the people who do care are mixed in with casual players who don't want to play ranked. Also if you want to test characters you're not familiar with that will go towards your rank with them, whereas before, at least for me, casual was a good way to experiment with different characters without worrying about rank. Hopefully Valve walks this back and separates the two gameplay modes. Having ranked be open all the time is great, but we need to have separate modes.
If you don't care about ranked, you'll be placed with people who play around the level of someone who doesn't care about ranked. If you want to test a new character, you'll be placed at a level that might reflect how you'd do with a new character.
Not a huge fan of the cross tree upgrades, not cause of their actual effects, but because you "lose" the base stats of the old one. Enduring Spirit > Slowing Hex makes you lose the 11% hp from it being a t1 green. Plus some weird inconsistences with upgrades (soul shredder > its upgrade makes you lose 2% Spirit lifesteal for some reason)
people when they realize you can combine decay+duration extender+magic carpet+ arcane surge + Diviner's Kevlar: Now grants +7% Ability Duration to get 7 Seconds dynamo Ult or 6 Seconds krill Ult [ Lmao]
I think most people prefer shorter games, and Valve seems to understand this, as they're clearly aiming to shorten the average game length to 20-30 minutes. That's why I believe they'll continue tweaking the soul-sharing mechanic. The changes to walkers and respawn timers were made specifically to prevent excessive snowballing. If they decide to revert the current soul-sharing mechanic, I imagine they'll develop another similar feature.
A good like 60% of my games were around there anyway. But I kind of like the shift of some of the souls from soul orb to minion kill. Reduces how much things snowball early off one death.
I personally really like the ranked changes. I want to try new heros but was always afraid of throwing at my rank, so now it's good. I can't wait to see the rank displacement take effect too. I got placed oracle 5 when I was previously phantom 5, but I'm always winning and doing well mostly. I think the new all in one mode with more frequent rank updates helps me more mentally too, as I get quicker feedback as opposed to waiting so long and sweating 😭
I can't help but build weird. So I was playing combat medic Haze the last time I played. Interesting that she can now use items without breaking invisibility. And my Vindicta can no longer shut down healing or do % damage quite as hard with Crows.
Played a couple of matches and I can say the game has instantly become less fun for me now that everyone treats matches as ranked matches. I never wanted to play ranked but now I am forced to
My 7 win streaks just gone today after they removed rank and I been on losing streak currently lmao, worst decision valve ever made. Got pair with teammates that fight 24/7 instead of farming despite our farm is so much more behind and only unlock a single flex zone 30 minutes into the game, so far the most miserable game experience I ever got
@@raey2960 yeah that's the problem, unranked is now ranked and now ranked plays like unranked with less balanced matchmaking and people that don't try very hard.
I aint playing this patch. Literally making is easier and easier for 1 button pricks to win the game. Now the only counter to haze is CC, oh wait, unstoppable, now her smoke bomb stops abilities she has so much more than other champions is horrid
@@cpulevel2 oh most definitely, but then enlighten me on how to improve my skill that would let me avoid an auto targeting ult? if metal skin cant do it anymore, then i gotta get at least 3 more items for either shields for both bullet and spirit to defend myself against it. let me guess, DoNt LEt hEr SnoWbAlL. easier said than done when she has built in dodges, insane fire rate, stacking damage, insane movement speed. The only option is to 6 man hunt them down before the fight even begins.
what was motivating you before? because if it was chasing a rank you can still do that, and if it was just playing the game not worrying about rank you can do that. if the only reason you were playing was to chase a rank and not because you like the core gameplay then you leaving is good feedback to the devs that they need to improve the core gameplay loop.
@@spazalicious5208 well for starters, the matchmaking was already fucked and they just made it ten times worse, but the big thing is that there's no distinction between casual and competitive game modes now, meaning that i either have to sweat every game or just give up on climbing. i can't even learn new heroes without tanking elo now. as for the core gameplay, it's only fun to me when the matchmaking and the gameplay itself is competitive. i've barely played standard lately because of how bad the matchmaking has gotten lately; every game was a stomp in standard, and now that's gonna come to "ranked" too. getting rid of solo queue also sucks; now i have to use a console command that may or may not work or i have to play vs stacks. anyway, the bottom line is that i'm probably going to take a pretty big step back from this game overall and go back to playing it for fun and take other games more seriously. deadlock is just not competitive right now and i don't want to grind or deal with it in its current state.
This is how you should do it in alpha. Try out all sorts of variables to see which one is the best. I'm sure they will separate ranked from normals in the future. But for now they want to test how individual ranks for each character works is my guess.
I keep these pretty short so her changes didn't really make the cut but here they are: Vindicta: Crow Familiar now also reduces spirit resistance by 6% - Vindicta: Crow Familiar T3 changed from "+3% Bleed and -40% Anti Heal" to -12% Spirit and Bullet Resistance - Vindicta: Stake radius increased from 8m to 9m - Vindicta: Stake now sucks enemies 3m towards the center (and limits movement to 6m from center) - Vindicta: Stake T1 changed from +0.5s to -40% Fire Rate - Vindicta: Stake T3 changed from Disarm to +0.75s - Vindicta: Assassinate min charge up increased from 25% to 50% - Vindicta: Assassinate bonus damage on low hp base damage reduced from 135 to 120
I predicted this change months ago. Deadlock at a high level is/was way too deathball heavy. It felt like playing League of Legends almost: you get mid, then roll the enemies' base in 1 swoop
Any time I'm near a walker they die pretty much instantly. Might be because of when I choose to be near them, rather than wasting time too early fighting near it like a lot of people do.
I think they should give buff to make them more sturdy during early game but remove the buff later into mid game like after 25-30 minutes or else it might be too hard for the losing team to wipe out walkers even after winning a big team fight since getting rid of walkers meaning getting flex zone which is extremely important for losing side
This was a great summary of the important changes! Even though I read through them myself it was nice to have someone more knowledgeable point out the most important changes.

This update is the biggest one yet imo and might be my favorite
I think it will be good long run, but this first week or two is going to be rough with all the balance issues
people can now use abilities in Ivy ult, idk if its bug or not but its awesome
ENEMY AC-130 ABOVE!
i saw a flying seven ult with ivy, was funny af
This has been in the game for a while, it's just the ability user gets a flat percentage decrease to their ability damage while in flight.
