The "Captain Korea" thing is real though...
In 2010 he gave up his American permanent residence visa.”
He had a physical examination for drafting but received a physical body status sufficient only for enlistment as public service personnel, due to his poor vision and a dislocated shoulder back in 2008. In 2012 and 2013, he underwent surgery to correct the disk as well as to remove pins in his upper arm from a serious break in 2013. He was cleared for active duty in December 2013 but delayed his enlistment due to busy workload.
In 2017, he enlisted as an active-duty soldier and began his mandatory military service.
After he completed his basic military training and was placed at 9th Infantry Division in Gyeonggi Province as a military instruction assistant.
2018, he participated in various 2018 Winter Olympics events as one of the volunteers under the command of the Ministry of National Defense (South Korea). He hosted many cultural shows and concerts and performed as a member of 2PM at the Olympic Headliner Show.
On October 1, 2018, he led the future combat system demonstration in the 70th Armed Forces Day Celebration. One of the event officials stated, “Corporal Ok Taec-yeon gave up his American residency; he set a great example, as he received surgery for the discs in his back and accepted active duty despite the fact that he had previously approved for alternative service. He's currently faithfully continuing his military duties. We actively recommended him to participate in the Armed Forces Day event as we believed it would be meaningful for him.
In February 2019, he received an early promotion as a Sergeant for his exceptional conduct while serving as a military instruction assistant at the 9th Armed Forces Division in Gyeonggi Province.[48]
Due to his superb records, exemplary character, and great performance, Taecyeon was appointed as a 'Special Class Warrior' by his division commander and was awarded as 'Model Soldier' by the Ministry of National Defense. He also earned the nickname "Captain Korea" from people online, because of his physique that mirrored the famous Marvel superhero, Captain America. The nickname has been used as headlines to describe the actor on many news portals and broadcasts. In one interview, he expressed the pressure of having the nickname, "It was a nickname that brought a lot of pressure but it also made me want to work that much harder. I'll continue to work hard to fit that nickname.
Ok finished his military service on May 16, 2019.

It made more sense for him to give up his green card since his career is mostly based in Asia anyway. The military service thing has been an extremely sensitive topic, especially so after Yoo Seung-jun switched to US citizenship and avoided conscription, something that made him unwelcome in Korea even to this day.
Additionally the general public will look more favorably on you if you gave up your green card to serve. Some Korean-Americans/Canadians still get flack for holding on to their foreign passports and get called the derogatory term "gyopo" instead of "dongpo". Guys like Joon Park, Son Ho-young, Brian Joo, Eric Nam, Tablo, etc who have been based in Korea for years are called "Korean" when things are good but when the public sentiment becomes nationalistic and anti-western countries (i.e. when people protested against US military bases in Korea), they get called "foreigners" for being ethnic Koreans who hold a foreign passport.
That's why celebrities like actor Yeon Jung-hoon (cast member of 2D1N) and some Shinhwa members decided to give up their green cards even though it meant sacrificing nearly 2 years of their careers. It's a win-win for everyone at the end of the day.

FYI, the generations are determined by the year they debuted (example: debuted from 1990s-2000 is 1st generation kpop like Rain and Seo Taeiji and Boys),
but second gen is like Big Bang,BtoB, Shinee, etc, and third gen is the more commonly known kpop idols/artist like BTS, Block B, EXO. Fourth gen is the new kpop groups like TXT, Stray Kids, Enhypen (I believe, I could be wrong about that one), and other groups that are still relatively new. The generations don't have a fixed determination, but some fans like to define them by when the music changed/new trends were introduced to create a new type of kpop. Big Bang's GD is known for introducing a lot of trends and being one of the most influential/popular kpop idols. Thank you for the reaction!

Is this what 4th gen consider fan service? 😂 Cute

Things like "ending fairy", making ASMR clips, doing aegyo, making finger heart gestures, etc are foreign to the 1st and 2nd gen. Korean fans have made compilations of the 1st/2nd gen veterans doing these things and most of the time they are cringing until they crack up or so totally clueless that they crack up. 😂 2PM often tell everyone that they don't do aegyo/cutesy things because they aren't naturally cute in the first place (they are taller than the average Korean adult male and 4 have big physiques).

I have two 2PM videos for you to review:
    1) "Abracadabra" by 2PM and 2AM. It is a homoerotic parody of the original song by Brown Eyed Girls. You will NOT be disappointed! (the one called "clean version" is in HD)
    2) "With Me Again" by 2PM... just remember: leather and a mechanical bull... (pick the music video rather than the special live performance)
