It’s a 2 week minimum recovery. It happens to me every couple years. It’s terrible, anti inflammatory doesn’t help, ice didn’t help, heat didn’t help, just time and rest.

@@The_Internet_Is_Overrated rest and light stretch. I would start PT to prevent future flare ups. Diet is key as well.

This is great info...curious about how you are 4 years after initial injury? Mine 1st flared up in the summer this year...couldn't even walk. After a few flareups and research, I landed on IAT. I started wearing a night time achilles splint and that helped immensely...as well as load modification and shoes that elevated my heels. I know what caused mine...I went through a season (in the spring) of trying zero drop shoes...bad idea.

Hi there, I have insertional Achilles tendinopathy and I have a heel spur. My foot turns outward when I walk and I read that this could be caused by a twisted calf muscle. I have been off for two weeks from work. I started wearing a airboot and I'm using crutches. I see my doctor tomorrow.

Hi. I’m suffering right now with insertional achilles tendonitis. What do you think of corticosteroid shot? My podiatrist suggested about that treatment. Thank you

mine seemed to come on when I walked on incline on treadmill. But it was tight before that. Seems to be slow to heal.

No longer working out? I can barely stand, no less walk without excruciating debilitative pain. I'm going to need a Cortisone shot, crutches, and maybe a therapudic boot to get through this. Seriously, the pain is unbearable and I am no longer ambulatory.

Its no joke! I have been suffering from this(insertional + retro calcanial bursitis ) in booth feet for almost 6-7 years, due to poor diagnosis of the condition at the earlier stages i avoided it. Im having stabbing pain at the meeting point of achilles tendon and heel bone, although im using heel raises and ortho shoes, the pain is persistent, what will be my way forward doc?

There's not a ton of info online but knowing that you have insertional vs. others is the first key and I think biggest key.. This guy is not accustomed to the pain. Him consistently saying it's a "DO NO WANT" injury isn't all that inspiring as far as getting information to healing it. I've battled with insertional tendonitis as well and the things that have helped me most is avoiding eccentric heal drops and sticking primarily with calf raise holds in different problem positions. I try to max out time at about 2 mins for however many reps and sets (working your way up to that time of course). Slowly adding weight to the holds so your achillies can get used to being under extra loads and the remaining fibers become stronger. The thoguht is once those remaining fibers are stronger that what you need the pain will go aand then you slowly work your way to light stretching. Make sure to roll the calfs out. I'd also recommend single leg bosu ball squats. They were tremendous in strengthening in mobile positions for me. The heel raises or just wearing shoes with a natural heel ie. good running shoes are great when inflammed and agitated. Once the pain drops and is lower on a consistent basis I switch over to my birkenstocks due to them being orthopedic in nature to kind of get my Achilles back right in a more flat state. Try to limit your ibuprofen use to when you really need it or when you know you're about to work it hard. Get more vitamin C in the diet. Follow that for 6 weeks and I feel like you should see some form of improvement that'll make you more confident in the rehab and keep you positive that you can get rid of the pain eventually. It's a long process but videos like this really aren't helpful. He's new to the pain in this vid, once you've had it for a while you just want solid info on what can help. Hope this helps you.
