Here are my initial thoughts about NBA 2k23. I've had a full day with it and wanted to share the things that I love thus far. - กีฬา
I'll be out of town for a few days, bad timing, so I wanted to get as much 2k23 in as possible to start off. Here are my thoughts so far!

This AI has been completely revamped and it makes this game feel and flow beautifully. The AI no longer has a negative IQ, and they are capable of hitting shots. The game feels amazing and I am loving the balance
literally just bought the game and downloading it now, so hearing the AI has changed for the better is very good to hear 👏
FAX all the AIs actually feel like they’re playing with the play style of the real player if that makes sense

🤣 I always read comments like this every year around launch time. Then a few months later after the constant tweaks and patches, the game is ruined. Hopefully they keep it balanced and don’t mess it up per usual.
2k is actually good RIGHT NOW but I have no faith in them to keep this up .. I know they gonna break it soon lmao

The problem is everyone only wants to judge this game on all the extras like my park,and my player playing online etc…..for me it’s playing on the couch against someone using real teams,and for me that’s where the game of basketball should be measured
Facts people act online only matters lol I like to play franchise mode and edit the attires and play 12mim quarters close to real life experience
But this ain’t the game of basketball, it’s a video game. The mechanics need to be good

I’m 26 but I started playing basketball games I’m 02-03 Nba live and it was fun then.. so y’all youngbucks are just spoiled smh frfr

That's what most active 2k players spend most of their time on. Park, MyCareer, myteam, etc.
The only things I care about is realism in modes. I wish plays were ran quickly like in real life and I wish my teammates didn't shoot 18% from downtown on HOF 😅

I’m also going on a trip tomorrow so I feel you and I also noticed and loved the rim reacting to the ball missing. It’s beautiful to see and adds so much immersion.
I’m glad 2k is good again this is the most fun I have had with a 2K since 16 and it brings me back to when 2k cared about the game yes bad patches will come but overall I think that the my league and the Jordan challenges are enough to make this one of my better 2ks so far
I feel the same exact way this is most fun i’ve had since 19 and before that 17 but all of the changes that have been made are working their favor, like Dom said with the park environments I’ve noticed it a great amount how much it brings me back to being in the 16,17 parks like with being Rivet City or the Ballers.
when I see people bring up 16 it's like heaven because it's the only one I've kept. I really enjoyed one on PS3 enough to keep but can't remember which.

I disagree when you said that good 2k players don't play play now online, it's a fun mode especially player control, I wish they brought back all star team up publicly, that's way more fun to me than grinding imo, but there are a lot of bad players that play that mode too (I guess the same goes for rec etc tho)

Only thing I didn’t like about play now online was some of the way they tiered the all time teams like why tf were the all time bucks a tier 2 team I hope they changed that

Same, I spend more time playing player control than MyPark or MyCareer. Don’t have the time or energy to wanna grind my player. I just play “player control” and MyNBA
I don't know how many of you notice the new "offhand layups", those animations are so smooth and satisfying to use
I play as a big and one of the things I love the most about this one is a 6'4 guy isnt going to block my shot when I back him down. It really makes them pay for messing up their assignments in the Rec. Also you can get a better feel for whether or not you should take the shot or pass with the new body animations.
Gonna fully get to dive in this weekend hopefully, but so far it's fire

Besides every layup going in, this years gameplay is amazing. Maybe the best ever
i love the attention to detail in the jordan challenges.
I played around 13 hours so far and I can definitely feel a difference between this year and last. I like how smaller players shoot faster in the paint if they are wide open, last year a lot of times they would just take their time with shots and get blocked or contested. I'm satisfied so far. Not gonna cap, I really fell in love with the mechanic of this game within 2 hours. It feels like the AI actually behave like NBA players. This game is soooo refreshing.
I said the same thing even the historical teams play like themselves and not some generic player that resembles them. I played with lakers with Eddie Jones and nick vanexel and I was cooking them. I felt like in the past these players didn't play like themselves outside of Shaq and kobe. Would be nice next year if they did a greatest game moment for each team and see if you could replicate the stats of that particular game.

@@brandonh9016 I’m trying to win the title with the SuperSonics in the Jordan era and the suns in the Kobe era. I’m also playing with the lakers in the Kobe era. Still don’t know what team to play in the magic v bird era though
I still think the defense around the rim is incredibly inconsistent.
Sometimes I am able to teleport block the most ridiculous shots I shouldn’t even be able to contest, let alone block.
Other times people will jump through me and get uncontested layups when I am smothering them.
It is because this game is EXTREMELY animation dependent, even more so than prior years, but it doesn’t play that well.
However, it FEELS really fluid. Its really fun to experience the fluidity, so I think a lot of trash kids are enjoying it so far.
I also think the shooting feels really janky is completely release dependent. Shooting rating barely matters.
Bad shooters with good releases can easily outshoot amazing shooters with difficult releases. If you don’t green, its an auto miss.
It reminds me of college basketball 10, it is impossible to stop some animations around the rim

Appreciate the positivity. I love 2K23. It still frustrates me sometimes, but it's really good overall.
I haven't played since 19 but I just picked this up yesterday and started playing on PS5 and I think it's pretty good. One thing that is super impressive is the sound though. I have a sound bar with a pretty powerful sub in my living room and playing this game with that set-up is awesome. It really feels like you're at a live event.
Surprisingly jumpshot is rewarding. The ball feels like it has weight in trajectory and the delayed greens are kinda good too

Coming from a strictly myplayer gamer to now playing rec and park with my friends my biggest adjustment has been the level of Comp in this game! The guys who are good compared to the bad or average players is mind bowing,to see how deep the skill gap is crazy

As someone who's taken essentially a 5-year hiatus from the franchise, I can say that the game has improved. However, the improvements aren't nearly compelling enough considering my time away. I really like The W added game mode and it's where I spend most of my time playing with my created player. The grind in MyPlayer is too and I don't plan to spend any money on VC to improve my character. The W has the perfect balance for building a new character without making it feel like I have to open my wallet to actually enjoy the game.
The A.I. is better, but as someone who has barely touched the franchise since 2018, It still feels like there is a long way to go. Quit passing me the ball with 2-3 seconds on the shot clock. It's also weird how I'm dinged for attempting a "bad shot" which is wide open, but the CPU can take ridiculously contested shots with no problem. There also feels like there is a delay in me pressing the button and my character reacting to that feedback. I can see a pass coming from a mile away and will go for the steal, only for my character to react 2 seconds later. Or when I'm going for a block and rebound and my character is incredibly slow to move towards that action. It's very awkward and frustrating, however, it does feel as playing defense is significantly less animation based than previously. My last gripe is how I have to fight with the CPU to run the P&R effectively. They still haven't gotten it right all these years. Sometimes it can take 5-10 seconds to get the CPU to set the screen properly.
Overall, the game is solid. Doesn't really feel like franchise has made any truly substantial leaps in the years I've been gone. I don't see myself spending countless hours into the online modes I used to frequent. The enthusiasm to play those game modes just isn't there any longer. MyPlayer is still cringe despite some of the changes they've made. I'll rather just create a character, give him all the tools I wan, and start a new career that way. Saves all the grinding and obviously microtransactions that purposely stall the progression. In the meantime, Michaela Jordan is about to take the WNBA by storm.

Same here. I played 2k18, played a couple months on 2k19 less frequently because it seemed too similar, went back to 2k18 after I hit a 99, and played 18 until the servers went off. I got 2k20 late and barely played. Spent about an hour on 2k21, and about 30 minutes on 2k22's myplayer mode.
I'd still play 18 if the servers were online. Took forever to get to 99, and I was used to the play. Grinding on these new releases just to repeat the same experience isn't worth it.
At some point, maybe the next gen will revamp the whole thing. Whether that's next year or in 5 years, that's when I'll check back in. Until then, I'll just wait until it's free on gamepass or $5 somewhere else, and then I'll run a myleague in search for that elusive perfect season.

I originally complained about the shooting but the game is really balanced. I like it. The improvements are subtle but it feels really good. The spacing is great.

I like 2 see hand checks or forearm checks for the Blacktop!

I've enjoyed current gen so far and I consider my build to be trash lol. I focused mostly on my physicals as a 6'6 SF but with a 86 mid and 3. Basically im spot up shooter that can rebound but I use shot creating take to be as versatile as possible. I've seen a lot of people say the builder is limiting but I've felt like I have infinite possibilities and quite frankly havent had this much fun on a 2k game since 2k15
I had to stop spamming R2 on current Gen, it allows me to play more fluidly instead of running my MyPlayer out of breath constantly. That’s what I like in 2k23 Current Gen, and of course the two takeovers.

Like the Rec environment this year felt like I was playing in an aau tournament the last couple 2ks 😭
Idk why the coolest features to me is the rim moving realistically and being able to actually save the ball
Regarding the subway feature, Skate 1 had a great version of that back in 2007 lol. Idk what took them so long to make a decent subway system
I actually like how they made it harder to get badges. You have to be more strategic and pick n choose carefully.
This 2K will really shine bright on people who are great at creating for their teammates

As a casual I still can't truly enjoy the shooting. I know, for the 2k skilled player, greening is a must and makes sense. Though that takes time and practice and repatriation. For me, I just play 2k for a time kill but never seriously. Being able to hit whites gave me some hope when my teammates were pretty much carrying me. I hope they give us SOME leniency there.
I’ve been on next gen and I’ve felt the same.. Idk if we’ve been playing sweats or dudes with high steals, but it seems like dudes steal at such a higher rate than me and my squad.. regardless this is the most fun and challenge I’ve had in a 2k game and it’s fun W game

Any tips on how to get better at mypark. It has always been hard to play through the delay and i memorize my shot only to forget the timing 5 minutes later.
Also you get random air balls by the computer. I don't really play online but this is really a good game.
Keep it 💯 the spamming and baiting isn’t going anywhere stealing is too easy this year even worst than last I have a 28 steal and I’m averaging 5 steals a game it’s ridiculous no matter your passing attributes or anything the passes are too slow and instantly picked off other than a few other things the game is fun

I'm a big fan of the game so far however the scoring in the paint is absolutely ridiculously OP for both you and the AI. Small guards are consistently scoring layups right on top of huge defenders like they aren't even there

The only way to play "Play Now Online" is broadcast camera angle. Turn auto zoom off
2k is robbing people. You pay for the game then if you wanna be competitive you gotta spend more money for VC. No 1st round pick ever was a 60 overall.

the adrenaline boosts and dribbling changes shouldn't be in single-player game modes, i think the changes will make rec/park a significantly more enjoyable experience for everyone, but playing mycareer/single-player myteam where you actually want one guy to do it all makes the incredibly infuriating and much more negative than posotive

Nice. Ultimately, im still not seeing a reason to rush out and spend 70 + dollars on a game they barely put effort into truly improving. It's been like this for a while, but im truly not motivated to play this new one.
