The concert was from the 1983 'Alchemy' gig at London's Hammersmith Odeon Theatre. All the band members were at the absolute height of their game at the time, with Mark Knopflers' genius on lead guitar and Terry Williams especially, on drums. Just absolutely awesome

You guys must check out Tunnel of Love Live from Wembley by Dire Straits. You'll hear one of the most beautiful gyutar solo in the live version. The studio version's outro is much shorter than the live version which is why I recommend the live version. Mark Knopfler is one of the most talented guitarists out there and many rock guitarists consider him one of the greatest.

I agree. I think quite a few have used hybrid picking where they use a pick but also pluck with the free fingers. That was something which I believe is/was more common with Country/Rockabilly players and picked up by Rock guitarists who were influenced by them, but unless you have a fairly close, high definition view and are looking for it, it isn't obvious.
