    For everyone bashing the crowd for laughing, laughter is often a response invoked from discomfort. It's a natural response to morbid or disturbing news.
    I gotta give Misha some credit for surviving such a psychologically damaging role and coming out of it relatively normal. It's a miracle that this role didn't turn him away from acting.

    Wow. I agree with others in the comments that it was incredible Misha was able to openly talk about the things that he felt and thought about while filming, as they were pretty dark. He was also really insightful and honest at the end, that we all probably have the potential to be cruel and messed up. I agree. I found this while looking for a couple clips from Karla to see if I wanted to watch it, but now I'm not so sure I want to.

    I was bored and thought it was some cheesy horror movie and I saw Misha was in it so I got excited. I watched it was far more disturbing than I thought. it was so violent and I was shocked at the end when finally I caught on it was based off a true story. for those who want to watch it beware there are many scenes I couldnt watch. it makes me even more freaked hearing Misha talk about it. never again will I watch Karla its sickening.

    I saw the movie, and Misha is an extremely good actor, scary good! But it didn't change the way I see Misha one bit, I just feel bad for him because the role of Paul obviously put stress on Misha. I definitely prefer Misha as Castiel though :3

      you could see it in his face how hard it was for him to portray Paul. it just shows how amazing of an actor Misha is, bc he's NOOO where near to that character he played and he did it so good. Misha is truly amazing.

    It was a great questions.

    I love how candid he is about everything, particularly Karla. Not a lot of actors admit to how difficult it is to portray a different person and how when you act as them, you somewhat become them in certain aspects. Sounds like a nightmare. I could never be an actor.

      why does your heart break for him and not for the three real victims of the real serial killer? I do not understand why people are up in arms about movies but not up in arms about the fact that these things happen in real life.

    As a Canadian, I think the movie Karla is a story that needs to be told. We need to be reminded about the evils in our society. Being Canadian we often forget that there are people out there in the world who have evil intentions. We often live unaffected by crime and live a sheltered existence. Movies like this make us look at ourselves and define ourselves in a realistic way instead of the fantasy we have created in our minds regarding our present society.

    What gets me most about this is that this whole thing was based on a true story... And that's what made it one of the most disturbing horror movies ever. It reminds me of the quote: "Truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn't."

    Going by his description of the dreams, the leering, and the director's actions, I have a feeling that there was something seriously spiritual going on during the production of that movie. People can mock me if they want, but that's what I believe.

    Seriously, if you haven't seen Karla, please don't. I'd seen it a couple years after it came out. I had a vague awareness of who Misha was (which is why I watched it) but I wasn't super into him yet. Misha is obviously quite a lovable guy but I think that movie turned me off of him until SPN. I rewatched it once I became a fan, and ugh. I severely regret it. It doesn't leave you with a good feeling. Please, listen to him when he says not to watch it.

    I watched the movie and I still see Misha as the adorkable actor he is. I watch shows like Law &Order SVU so this movie wasn't scarring. I can certainly distinguish Misha from Paul. Misha is a good hearted man while Paul was a deranged rapist. Actors play roles, that doesn't mean we should look at them differently for it.

      I tried watching a clip of it and when i saw misha put on that psychopathic deadly smile after a few minutes of threatening the girl with a knife under her neck I immediately stopped. Although I agree how Misha is a great actor, I cannot see him play such a horrifying role. But putting on some clips of castiel and seeing misha's videos with his family made me feel better :)...

    i just watched the movie today, it was very well done, maybe scarily so... the actors/actresses did a great job and it is unfortunate the things they had to deal with because of this movie (the creepy director, the rude interviews in canada, not talked anout in this video but in others, etc.)

    I literally JUST watched Karla (it ended about 20 minutes ago) and I feel really weird now when I see Misha. I know it's not /him/ in the movie, it's a character, but he played that character so well. I'm really happy that he can give an honest and insightful look into the film, and not just say "Nope. Never happened. Don't watch it." I think I just need to see some Cas and I'll be fine again.

    This is pretty shocking to hear, definitely to the extent that it affected him. It always is really interesting to hear his take on things, and his honesty is remarkable.
    That director just sounds disturbing.
    Thanks for posting. Strangely I would say that it is even harder hitting because Misha seems to be looking directly at this camera for a lot of it. Did you realise that at the con, or not until after?

    I know, he's obviously not making jokes, he's really disturbed about it. I don't blame him.

  • @eileenhurley8012
    @eileenhurley8012 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    People thought he was joking at first. It took a while before they realized he was being serious. And people do giggle sometimes when serious subjects are being discussed especially if they aren't expecting it. With a largely female audience, statistically many of them have must have experienced rape and physical abuse themselves. I've had this happen myself when talking to groups of women about rape. It's just a defense mechanism.

  • @lexilou989
    @lexilou989 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    (cont'd.) but i agree with another comment i saw “There was nothing wrong with the movie. There are lots of movies that represent real life serial killers or based on the events. Jeremy Renner played Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer. There's also movies on Ted Bundy, Ed Gein, etc. I think the only issue with 'Karla' was that the incident was still relatively "fresh" when the movie came out so it's one of those "too soon" issues. “

  • @KateRipley

    Out of pure respect to the families of the victims and to Misha, I myself am not going to watch Karla, and whoever wants to watch it to see Misha's acting, DONT. During the whole time he was talking about what he had to do, he looked very tense and disgusted almost. Even hearing what he had to do makes me disgusted too. So, I'm not going to watch it.

    Paul Bernardo raped 19 girls and raped and killed two girls. With the help of his wife/fiancé at the time, he raped and killed her sister. His wife's name was Karla Homolka. Yeah. It's pretty brutal and disgusting. BUT, I'm obsessed with Misha and even though this was a brutal and sickening thing that happened, I had to watch it. And he looked beautiful.
