9:20 that's the Pinion gear. It rides on the primary reduction gear(that your chain ring attaches to, some call it the BIG Pinion gear, which it wrong but whatever). It's driven by the Stator Reduction Gear(Nylon).
7000 miles on my nearly 5 year old BBSHD now. I tore it completely down around 3k and replaced the Nylon with the PEEK gear(it was getting noisy) back in 2022. De-greased the entire thing and put it back together with a Lekkie motor cover and used Lucas Red-N-Tacky(it's compatible with PA and PPA Nylon) throughout the whole motor. Still running super silent 4k miles after my lube and upgrade job. Also replaced the Silicon they sealed the phase wires and such with the aftermarket silicon rubber seals to make my life easier the next time I completely tear down my HD in the shop. :) One thing I'm honestly impressed with is the quality of the bearings Bafang used(aside from the weak roller bearings inside the Nylon gear). I took the time to size the bearings that are in the HD and found Timken equivalents if I should ever need to replace one.

Thanks a lot, my rolingbearing on the right was dirty and rusty. The main axle had trouble going round. I watched your video (and others too) and serviced it. The grease seems important, also for keeping the water out.
Finally a tutorial with somebody that is not in a hurry ....
Thanks and greetings from the Netherlands.

Grease is important for moving parts for a few reasons, the moisture protection, friction reducing, lubrication and to help reduce wear.

Eric i like the fact you are working on a motor thats clearly had alot if use because that drive side main clutch gear casing like the resistance you had in getting it off was like that for me. I've been servicing my bbshd's for a few years now, i look up TH-cam vids to find new methods and theirs too many new and shiny bbshd strip down and regrease vids, so for anyone reading this, its this guys vid you should watch because its relative to the condition of a used motor and the application.

i used the chainring bolts to push the steel gear out of the case bearing. they only got so far apart before the screws bottomed out, so then I slid some flat bar between the gear and the case to give the screws something else to push off of, and it went well. for reassembly I pressed them mostly back together in the bench vise, and let the case screws do the rest of the work.

Hello, I have a bike with a bafang 500 watt motor and I have traveled 2000 km. Do I need to lubricate? Also, I'm having a hard time finding mobile synthetic oil. Is there another grease available? thank you 🙏The operating range of my grease is -30 to +130 degrees. Can I use this oil

Do you not use a degreaser to clean before greasing? And what spare parts would you recommend having in stock?

    Is Mobilith SHC100 comparable?

Not sure as I've have never used it. Some say yes. Others are just rude on Reddit about it.

I bought Mobilith SHC100 it's supposed to be the exact same thing. Sure looks the same anyhow.

It's actually better I believe, at least in the technical specs.

aircraft grease is pretty toxic and carcinogenic. Definitely not the same stuff that's in standard greases for bikes. Absolutely shouldn't be handled without gloves under any circumstances.
